RIP Esther.
You did good girl.
And you will be missed.
Thoughts are with the family and friends. 🙏🏾💐

She did a lot of good and seemed a great character. So sad that she didn't live to see an assisted dying law brought in.

Magenta8 Wed 30-Sept-26 19:15:38

Among her many achievements was the founding of Childline.

RIP Estherthanks

‘That’s Life’ was a tv highlight of the week.

RIP Esther.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 30-Sept-26 19:25:48

RIP dear lady 💐😿

Boomer1947 Wed 30-Sept-26 19:38:48

Are we to just gloss over the hurt and distress she and Desmond Wilcox caused to his first wife.? A real lady does not climb into bed with another woman's husband.

merlotgran Wed 30-Sept-26 19:40:01

A long broadcasting career with many achievements.
RIP Esther Rantzen.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 30-Sept-26 19:43:20

I still smile remembering the ‘sausage dog’ on That’s Life. A programme that ticked so many boxes in the 80’s.
RIP Esther Ranzen.

Condolences to your family and I hope your passing was peaceful and pain free, especially as at one time Dignitas was mooted as an option.

Jaxjacky Wed 30-Sept-26 19:45:25

Childline and Silverline an admirable legacy RIP.

Grannybags Wed 30-Sept-26 19:54:44

Your comments really aren’t appropriate on a condolence thread

Well said grannygravy13.

I haven’t heard anyone, including Esther R describe herself as a “real lady””. She was a strong woman

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 30-Sept-26 20:20:41

👋 to you Iam haven’t seen you posting for a while. x

Grammaretto Wed 30-Sept-26 20:27:34

Fare thee well Esther. I'm sorry she wasn't able to have her last wish to choose when she died.
She was clever and funny and leaves a fabulous legacy of good.

sodapop Wed 30-Sept-26 20:27:58

This is a condolence thread. They may be your genuine views, but not appropriate given the circumstances.

No, but on the other hand, a real lady or even just someone with good manners doesn’t say things like that on a condolence thread.

Otherwise known as . . .
It is socially inappropriate to speak ill of someone who has passed away and cannot defend themselves

She seemed like a good person...I dunno....was there some strange connection with Saville?
