Good morning from a dry mild Bristol. It’s been weird as the diurnal variation when it was very hot could be as much as about 18C, but now it’s only a few degrees.
I had an incredibly busy day yesterday with sorting out the jetsam of the tripping fuse, the wet washing, etc.
I had promised to see the temping manager about viewing the resident manager’s house this afternoon - it was left in an appalling state of decoration and cleanliness; as for the garden, the least said…. I then brought up a couple of other items, which then snowballed into something else, etc.!
Then, I had the usual Tesco shop which takes two hours when my neighbours friend comes. Once sorted, I had lunch and a little nap.
I baked for Wednesday. Normally, I’d do it today, but I now have my new Spanish class and, today, this viewing of the house made it difficult.
Nearly two hours later, all was done, washed up, put away, I needed to prepare for my WA committee meeting. Made strictly, ate then was out just before 7 pm.
I was so tired by the time I got home, I was in bed and asleep before 10.
I’m feeling rather nervous, joining an established Spanish class this morning, need to rush back for the house I so then debrief. Throw in the delivery of my new washing machine “in the afternoon”, my day is packed!
I hope your day pans out well and everyone has a degree of contentment in their lives.

Good morning from Malta where showers are forecast with a high of 31°C.

I’m having DGS2 this morning whilst his brother is at therapy.

I will walk to the village, weather permitting. The rain is very localised and it’s still hot. I don’t like this ‘end of summer’ feeling at all. School starts next week and before we know it another year will have flown. Sorry, I’ve got the blues.😞

Hope you have a good day.☀️

grandMattie Tue 15-Sept-26 05:53:33

Sorry about the blues, bellas. Hard when it hits, isn’t it. Big 🫂 🤗 hugs

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 15-Sept-26 06:20:16

Morning all from Italy.

We are off to Lake Como after breakfast. I have been looking forward to this particular trip. Younger son attended a wedding there years ago and told us how beautiful the area is.

Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Tue 15-Sept-26 06:24:26

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16°, damp and windy. Bellasnana I'm sorry you are feeling low. GrandMattie you achieved lots yesterday! Hopefully you wont have to wait all afternoon for the new washing machine.
Yesterday I dropped off the boys at school then came home and had an early nap before making lentil soup and a steak casserole. I also organised my eye check up, car service and Internet fibre improvement. I worked in the school library in the afternoon before picking up the boys. Dgs2 closed the car door on his finger and was very upset. One of the teachers took him for an ice pack and he cheered up. It was a sore one though. Dsil came for dgs1 and was very quiet. His dad's prognosis isn't good. Then dd came for dgs2. I had some steak and gravy but the gallbladder pain returned last night, so I had an early night.
Today I will collect the boys and bring them to my house for breakfast then take them to school. I will do a washing and a little housework. I also have to do some admin regarding my car service. An online check in. The password requirement is causing difficulty. Life was simpler in the past! Steak casserole again for dinner. My gran always said second day stew tasted better. Have a good day all.

karmalady Tue 15-Sept-26 06:37:14

Good morning from s somerset, it is going to be a very pleasant bright and dry day

My tv is working very well, together with the soundbar, it was very light to carry upstairs, even in its protective box. I am now waiting for a special swivel stand to arrive and then I will take the feet off the tv and raise it a few inches. The set-up is my present to myself, to make winter more cosy

My hair is being cut this afternoon and I will cut out a dressing gown today, to save a cotton waffle blanket from landfill.

I have some washing to do later, a tip run with cardboard and will also thread my machines ready to sew the thick waffle plus a bean and veg soup to make. It is an easy and straightforward day for me

hollysteers Tue 15-Sept-26 06:38:38

Good morning from a cloudy Greece. We leave today so not too bothered about the weather.
We drove my sister to the airport yesterday and had a meal in the town. The chicken giro was enough for me for the whole day. A little gift shopping and back for a wonderful sunset.
DD’s driving on the mountainous roads was very good, rather her than me as it got dark.

My son’s cold really hit me yesterday and what with falling at the pool, I have felt better on holiday…

Sorry you are feeling low Bella, not nice, too many irksome troubles GM and thoughts to Grandmabatty💐

Ashcombe Tue 15-Sept-26 06:41:53

Good morning from a dry but dull Torbay with sun promised later.

What a busy time you’re having, grandMattie!
I’m sorry you’re affected by the changing seasons , Bellasnana.
The Italian lakes are stunning, Ladyleftfieldlover!
Your poor DGS2, Grandmabatty; I hope your pain has eased.

Early Asda grocery delivery expected here (twixt 7 and 8!) then I’m off to Props while DH will go off on a mystery train ride!!

Wishing everyone a good day! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Grandmabatty Tue 15-Sept-26 06:43:38

Ashcombe thanks. It has receded a bit this morning. Hollysteers thank you too.

luluaugust Tue 15-Sept-26 06:49:02

Good morning from W Kent where I woke up rather early, tinnitus really bad at present and I can sympathise with Bella not liking the end of Summer
We have an empty day but are thinking about a short trip out
Thoughts with those struggling along

MissChateline Tue 15-Sept-26 06:50:09

I’ve just had the pleasure of watching 150 hot air balloons fly over Cappadocia during sunrise at Goreme. Stunning. Now about to head off to ascend some mountain that I can’t pronounce in 30* heat. The hiking here is fabulous but a bit hot and the scenery amazing. Feeling lucky that I can still do all this.

Marydoll Tue 15-Sept-26 06:51:52

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

I have had very little sleep and when I did, I had very unsettling dreams.
Yesterday was not a good day healthwise, I did very little.
I constantly feel out of sorts, but can'texplain, exactly what is wrong. I have been told, this is what to expect now.

Dollie is coming for breakfast, so I must get up. Thnkfully, DH is doing the school run. I couldn't face it.

A trip to Lake Como sounds sounds absolutely wonderful.💚

Have a pleasant day folks. For those on holiday, have a wonderful time and for those, who are struggling, have a peaceful day.

P.S.My new pancake pan from Lidl awaits. DH is not amused; the results will be exactly uniform size and small. He prefers my large rustic ones.😉

Gagagran Tue 15-Sept-26 06:59:28

Good Morning everyone from the central south coast. It seems we are to have a cloudy day again with some sunny spells interspersed. It feels humid again.

I am joining you in the blues club Bellasnana. I can feel my life contracting along with my height. Even my unobservant DH has said that I am shrinking before his very eyes. I am missing choir and my social life is non-existent due to my physical problems, after my fall.

The first of two surveyors came yesterday to assess our hall and stairs for a stair lift and he said that there would be no difficulty at all. The second chap is coming next Tuesday so we will see what he has to say. It was reassuring though.

I feel so sorry about your DGS2's finger trapped in the car door, GrandmaBatty - excruciatingly painful. Poor boy. Hope it is less sore today.

GM as my Mum used to say you will meet yourself coming back! Your energy levels have to be high with all that you do and there is no wonder you were so weary last night. Hope the Spanish lesson is what you are looking for and the house survey allows a plan of action.

Kindest regards to all our GNs with struggles or worries of any sort. May the day bring some comfort and ease.

Puss Tue 15-Sept-26 07:13:41

Good morning from Belfast
It looks like a lovely bright morning. Yesterday I made vegetable soup to freeze and cooked beetroot. DH went out to a mens thing so I had a day to myself.
DD arrived last night with his new phone. It had been delivered the day before but she took it home to check it out.
Oh what a night!!! I kept out of it.
Can you imagine? What is your password? He forgot! Then he remembered I'm glad it wasn't me I am so not into phones.
Anyhow then he thought he had lost all his photos. I suggested he asked GS to sort it out.
DD went home it was way past her bedtime she works hard and has to get up early.
Anyhow I'm sure it will sort itself out.
Thoughts are with all who have bigger problems. Take care everyone.

Greyduster Tue 15-Sept-26 07:24:43

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where we had a moody sunrise. We may have some rain today. The chiropodist was complaining yesterday about the cost of all the equipment she uses. This is usually a precursor to her putting up her charges. We’ll see! The electrician didn’t turn up. He sent a message he would be here today. If you see a pig flying over, please don’t shoot at it!

The new fridge was delivered and installed successfully in the early afternoon, which left me time to cut the ornamental hedge. It’s made a good come back from the devastating box moth attack earlier this year. DD rang in the evening for a chat while she was waiting for SiL to come back from taking GS and all his kit and caboodle back to uni, after which they had played golf and eaten at a swanky pub. She’s getting used to being a golf widow these days.

I have school volunteering today and should finally meet my new year three reading group. They hadn’t finished assessing them last week. I don’t know who will be the more nervous - them or me!

Have the best day you can, folks.

kittylester Tue 15-Sept-26 07:27:36

Good morning all from a rainy North Leicestershire.

I must get going and organise my music for choir and, after choir, lots of us go to a cafe in the village for a chat and lunch.

Have the best day possible everyone.

lexi01 Tue 15-Sept-26 07:29:38

hello, good morning everyone from Southend on sea
i am having an early morning in here for sure since after 5am
just to let you know all,i am very new to this website for sure smile i hope you all,are ok? smile

Gingster Tue 15-Sept-26 07:29:56

Good morning all. There’s a beautiful sky with many dappled colours. .

Yesterday turned out very warm again.

I met my friend for coffee and had a good chat for a couple of hours. It was very busy and noisy in the cafe with mums and toddlers. I would have thought there would be somewhere more suitable for a catch-up with room for the children to run around and play. A park would have been lovely as the weather was perfect.

My bulbs and compost arrived yesterday, and I’ll pot them up sometime this week.

Today I have Bridge and will pop into the surgery on my way to be picked up in town. I need an appointment for Dh as a follow-up for his recent blood test. Can’t get through on the phone.

Little pooch also needs a tooth out so must phone vet and insurance people.

I’m sorry some of you hate the end of summer . Try to enjoy this lovely time of year 🌻🍂🍁. I always look on it as a golden time after the draining heat of the summer.,

Take care all 🌻

madeleine45 Tue 15-Sept-26 07:30:45

Good morning Michael and all GN's on a dark slightly breezy morning in North Yorkshire. I can just begin to make out the tree but that is all so far. This morning I am taking my laptop to see my great techy genius at 10am. It is driving me mad at the moment. Not some great particular fault, but lots of irritating things. Some stuff it wont let me erase, another intemitent fault, which I always hate, as the minute you try to show it to someone it disappears and then later when you are on your own it starts again! He is always in great demand, so need to be there on the dot, and hope we can sort out a few things. Due to all the branches of various banks closing here, I am being forced into more online banking. Whilst I am perfectly competent to use the online I still do not like putting such information available to scammers etc etc. and with my background, I am aware that even highly sophisticated systems can be hacked etc.

I feel that I am running to stand still at the moment. Whilst (fingers crossed) there is some improvement in my leg, and in general terms my brain does seem to be working in a better manner, what I actually accomplish in a day never seems anywhere near my intentions! I absolutely must make some inroads to my ironing, as there is nothing available that I would want to wear to a business meeting or even a social meeting. I have everything washed but am down to those clean but not at all favourite clothes in the wardrobe. I am getting the basics done, as regards keeping clean and now cooking a bit and the kitchen is clean etc., but plants are languishing waiting to be planted, weeds to be pulled up, the seasonal wardrobe change over touched at all, and still annoyingly documents not found etc.

Yesterday, I made the most of the sunny but slightly humid day, by getting a washer load of clothes and towels done and out and dried on the line. Always pleasing. Went off on the yellow peril to the surgery, where I showed the receptionist the stupid text that gave me no information as to what or where this appointment was to be made, and she agreed that it was totally ridiculous and you could not tell any information from it. She made a note about it and the admin will be calling me at some unknown time today, when I shall be suggesting that someone takes a look at what they are sending out and uses some commonsense, whilst hopefully finding out who the mystery message is from and that I have not missed some important appointment!!

Then I went off to do a few more chores and ended up at Tesco, having for once , quite a successful shop, delving into the reducted basket and getting several good things including some seabass, which I enjoy, but which are usually at a price I wouldnt afford, and then there was a general reduction on some lovely cullen skink, so a fishy trip and had the soup for lunch with lovely fresh bread. Very enjoyable.

On the way back I decided as I was passing the library, I would call in and confirm that I wanted to be on a course they are running at the end of the month I think. I came in the back way of course, bumping over the horrible yellow lines which always hurt my back but you cant get round them. Then the tiresome hassle of the slopes and the 6 point turns etc. Finally got into the library. Coming in this way you arrive at the first floor level. This is both a reference level section, but also a meeting area , which is what we usually use, where there is a space I can park the buggy and then hobble into the room where they make sure that I have a seat with arms so that I can get up and down. There is a lift to the ground floor and usually a member of staff at the desk for enquiries etc. Just my luck that after negotiating the doors, there was no member of staff there and a notice stating that books should be taken down to the ground floor where a member of staff was available. However there was no camera, or phone that I could use to contact someone, and as I was in too much pain to struggle off the buggy and go down, and in any case could not have been sure that the person I wished to speak to was there, I then had to reverse the whole procedure and start to go home, in rather an annoyed state of mind!

Fortunately for me, but probably not for them, there were three women sat out in the sunshine having their break with a drink, so I asked them if they were library staff or were in touch with them etc. and they said they could pass on a message etc. I regaled them with my trip and told them that I would be writing to the library later but would like them to inform them that day, especially regarding the total non availability of any communication with staff etc, and that I would be in touch re the course etc. That I would not be put off by this experience, but how many other people might have had similar experiences and just not come back!!

I then finally got home, somewhat later than I had intended, and dumped the shopping in, and then off to retrieve my beautifully dry washing. Felt too weary to make any effort to do the extra jobs I had intended, and just got the shopping put away, enjoyed the chowder , and plodded through a few more things, managing to stay awake for the final part of Vigil, which I thought was very good, but yet again, somewhere around the news headlines I fell asleep and woke about 1.30am! Very annoying, that I cant get to sleep when I want to , and yet manage to drop off just where I dont want to,!

So today will be hopefully sorting out the laptop, then I shall be sending emails to the library, and also to the council about the state of the roads and paths ,and to the hotel that purports to have disabled access but hasnt checked it out etc., and then I think if I dont get some sort of satisfactory answer from them, I may contact the fire brigade to check that the rules regarding the fire certificate still stand. I used to know them off by heart when I ran various departments in companies. Firstly because that was my job, but fire is ,for me , the worst sort of thing, that I cannot control.

When I was travelling abroad a lot, I used to do some temping work in London, often in the city etc., and I always made sure that I checked on the fire exits for the department I was working in. People do not realize that when you work somewhere permanantely, you are shown the fire exits, have local knowledge and would naturally have that immediate ability to know where you should go, and the safest exit etc. As a temporary staff member, I often found that I had to ask where the exits were, as it was not the usual way to tell people, then sometimes you would see casual slapdash things such as boxes blocking fire doors etc, and so I was always very cautious about such things. It was always a tight line, as I worked for a very well respected company, and so you had to think about how their clients would feel if they knew you were informing on them. I did once have to go out on my first morning to a call box (no mobiles then!) and ring the fire brigade , asking if the place I was working in had a fire certificate, knowing that they could not be working without one. When they said of course, I asked when the regulations had changed that allowed them to pile boxes against a fire door!! By the time I had walked back to the office, surprise , surprise, there was an unannounced visit by a fire officer, and an office manager was being given a dressing down, reminded of the rules and obliged to send all the staff outside until the said boxes had all been removed and it was safe to go back to work. I made no comment when a member of staff said that was unexpected, they had never had such a visit before!! Well I must be careful today, as am obviously in a sorting mood and in particular feel that I have given various people enough rope to hang themselves. They have had sufficient time to sort out things and to let me know that they have dealt with the problems. Now having had no response they will see me in sterner mode. I shall not be backing down, on the contrary if I dont get any satisfactory action or at the least some effort being made to deal with problems I shall be stepping up into my next level, where the local papers will be getting letters, council meetings will be visited and I will be gathering as many other people to also join me so that they will realize that things will not go away if they just keep quiet!!

Ah well , there is more daylight if a bit grey and I have the mornings entertainment of tow pigeons wandering around having a peck about, whilst the agile squirrel is having a morning dash about up and down the tree and along the fence. Time for some coffee and to begin making notes and packing up the laptop, with fingers crossed that I shall come back from the meeting with some improvements. My hair could really do with cutting. As I have very fine hair, if it gets to that irritating level, too long for a short style yet not long enough to put up, it is hard to keep it tidy, but I havent seemed to find a space to get it done. Maybe today. will see if the hairdresser has a space when I am down the town.

I hope that you have a pleasant trip Mike and meet some friends. My goodness GrandMattie you had a day and a half of it didnt you? I hope you found your new spanish class people friendly and enjoyed the morning, and got a little rest after your exertions yesterday. Sorry you are having a down day Bellasnana. I think that there is that first regretful time when we look forward to darker days and colder weather, but then I think the joys of autumn can kick in, when there is pleasure walking through the leaves, putting on a warm jacket and not having to look for the shade. I still love kicking through the dry leaves and have been known to pick up handfuls and throwing them into the air just for the fun of it. You see, I know that I am only 9 really and still enjoy conkers, and autumn leaves and bonfires etc. This slowpoke old lady with white hair is just a disguise! I am sure the grandchildren will soon have you enjoying a walk through the woods or making bonfire toffee. Hope so anyway.

May you all have a pleasant day, and achieve at least one target - even if that is to keep breathing - by tonight. So on with the armour and into the adventures of the moment with hopefully time to draw breath and enjoy a decent coffee.

EkwaNimitee Tue 15-Sept-26 07:32:11

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle.
A change from warm, sunny yesterday when I sat outside in the afternoon with my coffee after a busy housework morning.

I finally got round to trying out my powerful new smoothie maker. I first thought it wasn't going to happen as the bag of frozen fruit I thought was in one of my freezers wasn't!. I made do with a pear, frozen spinach, seeds and almonds...and it was yummy! Now to get rid of the little under-powered one that struggled with frozen stuff and whole almonds.

Today I wanted to get out to the garden centre for things I need plus I've been home alone for 2 days and need to see human beings. Like others, I think autumn is getting at me, I'm always glad to see December 21 when I can look forward to the days getting longer. DH and I used to avoid the dark days by escaping to Spain for the winter, Christmas dinner in our usually sunny awning was very pleasurable.

If I don't go out, I'm going to have to find something useful to do....!

Wishing you all a cheerful day, I'm going to kick my a**e and get on with things!

Redcar Tue 15-Sept-26 07:32:17

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Mild with high cloud this morning. I think a fine day is forecast, yesterday was sunny in the afternoon. I managed to dig some holes in the garden and planted up some of the perennials I bought in the summer. I ached for the rest of the day but was happy to have been able to do it.

bellasnana I’m sorry you’re feeling down today.

grandmabatty I hope your pain eases soon and that your dgs’s finger is better today.

llfl I hope the trip to Lake Como doesn’t disappoint! We had holidays at Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore but didn’t get to Como. A beautiful area!

gagagran my sympathies for your loss of height and activities. Height loss brings all sorts of unwelcome physical problems which have such an impact on one’s ability to continue enjoying life as it was!

Have the best day you can everyone.

NannyJan53 Tue 15-Sept-26 07:33:47

Good morning from a damp Black Country, where it rained overnight.

Walking group walk this morning, it is an extra one we do on the first and third Tuesday of the month. Today the starting point is the village where DD lives. So afterwards I am taking DGD2 for lunch in the cafe there as she is still at home before University starts next week. Then she has asked if I can take her to a Pharmacy for a Menigitis jab.

After that it is home, to get ready for the theatre in Birmingham tonight...phew!

Wishing you all a lovely day

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 15-Sept-26 07:38:58

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s wet out. It rained heavily in the night but apparently we have sunshine along with the showers today and 19°C.

I have an appointment for a manicure at 11am. Five weeks since I last went so my nails need snipping right down again. They grow so fast and obviously the gel polish keeps them strong. I’ve had this done regularly for well over 25 years now!

No other plans which is nice, no calls on my time today. I shall just potter taking things at my own pace.

I’m binge watching 7Up and thoroughly enjoying it.

I see signs of improvement via your writingMadeleine your feisty self is coming back and I am glad.
