Galaxy

I lost a full day's work arguing on the trans threads during lockdown - you were absolutely there doodledog.

Yes, I still bear the scars😂. But was I here in 2017? Not that it matters, but I'm interested.

Galaxy Mon 08-Jun-26 21:14:16

I think it must only go back so far. I can't find any information on my mumsnet history, I had 2 user names ( not at the same time) and it won't give me any info.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 08-Jun-26 22:09:16

‘Evening’ Allira I hope you’ve had a good day with your family and that any medical appointments so far have gone well.

Casdon Mon 08-Jun-26 22:51:21

It does go back to the beginning of Gransnet, but it’s a bit faffy, if you type in the name of the poster and the year, you will see the threads they were on, but they don’t all open. If you cut and paste the name of the thread and do a google search, it will open that way. Here’s an example.

Bonjour folks.

I need to buy some more Pineau today, because I'm hooked.
Well I don't need to as such, medicinally, because a few kilos of those lovely black cherries were equally powerful.

Good morning Allira.
True colours 🎵 🎶 🎵 no, they're not always beautiful.

I joined in 2019 on a long house-moving thread. A year later, I moved , (in the figurative sense), on to other threads.
Allira was one of the first to interact with me, and gently told me there was already a poster with an identical name. After a while of contacting that poster to see if she minded, I changed names which was a shame for various reasons. I changed again later in order to access the site, and once again last year. It makes no odds, one's style is recogniable.

Calendargirl Tue 09-Jun-26 06:39:54

I know my first post was a query about washing curtains on the House and Home thread, fortunately not a very ‘popular’ one, so it was easy for me to trace it.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Jun-26 06:57:58

Good morning Allira 🙋‍♀️

I joined around the time of the Grenfell Tower fire, I had a firm telling off from a few posters when I posted on that thread 🙀🙀🙀. I had a very supportive poster, who encouraged me to stay, thank you Anniebach

BlueBelle Tue 09-Jun-26 07:01:37

I ve woken up feeling disappointed and annoyed
We shouldn’t be having to do this
Allira should have been told EXACTLY what she had done wrong, each time, not accumulated months or years afterwards, and we as posters should also have been told so we can avoid making the same ‘mistakes’
Allira apparently has been given no clear idea as to why she is banned

Every time she or anyone supposedly commits an online crime it should be clear as to all what the offence is There must be a warning system three warnings and out,
Allira had no warning that she her style of posting was unacceptable

All of this takes moderation and we are supposed to be a self moderating forum ! you cannot mix the two

This post is for all of us, not just Allira

Again I will make it clear I did not know Allira, I m not and never have been part of a clique…. I am just speaking out for fairness

MartavTaurus Tue 09-Jun-26 07:07:42

You're doing the grandest of jobs Buebelle.
Allira appreciates your efforts, well everyone's actually, but yours especially.
It's a keep trying every possible angle approach to get her reinstated.

Good morning Allira, I hope you're having a lovely time with your daughters.

Doodledog Tue 09-Jun-26 09:17:47

You’re right about the lack of warning. BlueBelle. How are we supposed to know if we are on thin ice if the first hint we get is when we plunge under it?

What disconcerts me is that the standard response from GQ suggests that there has been a dialogue between themselves and banned posters, with plenty of opportunities to comply with the (incredibly vague) guidelines. That suggests that they know an approach like that is better than what happens, so why not use it? And worse, why pretend it is being used if it isn’t?

Was Allira told who reported her, and (specifically) why? Or were there more vague references to ‘the spirit of Gransnet’ or similar?

People can’t know when they are breaking rules unless they know what the rules are.

People can’t know when they are breaking rules unless they know what the rules are.

No they can’t.

And while supposedly offensive posts disappear and reporting posters remain in secure anonymity instead of admitting that they have reported and/or why, we have, for the most part, no way of knowing what we shouldn’t do.

Even in the last few days, l’ve watched posters being incredibly rude and dismissive about others’ views or knowledge and that’s allowed to pass unchallenged.
I don’t recall Allira doing any of those things.

Maybe I’d better report my post for daring to say that.

TerriBull Tue 09-Jun-26 10:58:25

Bluebelle thank you for your input, a galvanizing influence on this thread smile

Good Morning Allira, I think it was mentioned the other day that you had hospital appointments, hope they were just routine, and you're not feeling poorly.

Best wishes x

Doodledog Tue 09-Jun-26 11:06:34

Why would you report your post, Molly? It didn't say anything controversial.

I don't think that we (or HQ) can reasonably police rudeness - a lot of it is personal style, and what counts as rude or dismissive is subjective anyway. I'd rather people were forthright than make passive aggressive digs that are carefully worded so that they can be denied.

Controversial means posting things that disagree with others and I’ve been deleted and worse for not agreeing, so . . .

LauraNorderr Tue 09-Jun-26 12:20:53

Hello Allira, bit late today as I had my annual dental check, all good.
Hope you are okay and any medical appointments have gone well.
You are doing an admirable job BlueBelle, a strong and calm influence.
Come on GNHQ please treat us as adults and agree an amnesty for all. We are big enough and capable enough to deal with any issues which arise. Thank you for listening to us.

Aveline Tue 09-Jun-26 12:57:12

LauraNorderr I hope you don't mind but I reported your post as I really wanted the moderators to read it. Your plea was so well expressed.

LauraNorderr Tue 09-Jun-26 13:03:35

Not at all Aveline. Anything that helps justice to prevail.

Good afternoon all

Just returned from a lovely long brunch with a good friend at our local garden centre, lots of chat, nice food, then a wander round the centre.

Have had torrential rain whilst there, sunshine and wind!

Hello to Allira x

DamaskRose Tue 09-Jun-26 13:22:40

I’m a regular reader but an irregular poster. I don’t have a clue when people come back under a different username so Allira may have been any number of different people. But I’ve enjoyed her posts (and I know I’ve spoken about Callistemon before and I’ll probably keep doing it because I found her posts among the best) and often found them helpful. I wish I could think of a single reason why she has been banned. So please Mods, reinstate her because I have a feeling this is not going to go away. As for reporters, we are not in the playground. If you don’t agree with someone just scroll on past, I know I do!

People can’t know when they are breaking rules unless they know what the rules are.

2nd paragraph - from posts already posted, by both GNHQ and people who seem to be in contact with Allira, a number of things were said.

3rd paragraph - I dont know, but I would highly doubt that Allira would have been told who reported her. Does that ever happen to anyone? I dont know.
Going by posters who presumably dont know her as well, there were hints that she had been deleted multiple times in the years she has been on here.
Sounds like this time, they just banned her.

4th paragraph - having read all the rules[I presume all, and they are not that difficult to find], on this site, I think they are not that specific. Though I dont think rules can cover all eventualities.
But they do mention they can ban a poster if they want to.
Which seems to be what happened. And that is in the rules.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Jun-26 15:34:56

Allira can still read GN threads.

Keep smiling Allira 🙋‍♀️
