There is definitely an odd atmosphere on GN at the moment.

So many recognisable posters missing from N & P or any thread which could be classed as controversial.

I know that I am still sitting in my hands and only posting my thoughts, not getting involved with any robust debates

GN really is the poorer for Allira’s take in things

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 16-Jun-26 09:43:41

Allira told me she used the link you mention Philip several days ago but received no reply.

I find that concerning.

Be grateful if you’d look into it further for her.

AGAA4 Tue 16-Jun-26 09:43:47

I was a shy little girl and was very grateful for the perfects when I started at secondary school aged eleven. There were some big bullying older girls but the perfects sorted them out.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 16-Jun-26 09:44:45

Ops GN really is poorer without Allira’s take on things

(Note to self - always proof read, and then check again 🤦‍♀️)

Charleygirl5 Tue 16-Jun-26 09:52:01

Aveline, when Phoenix was alive around 5 of us were suspended, I forget now what we did. I was suspended another time but in fairness I had been goaded by some clown who quickly vanished. I wasn't the only person she targeted.

It is probably my rude and aggressive manner which doesn't fit in! Who knows.

AGAA4 Tue 16-Jun-26 09:56:49

Prefects of course. Thank you for pointing that out GG13.

Hi all. For the avoidance of doubt, we’ll usually remove posts that speculate about who may have reported something, criticise others for reporting, or suggest that using the report function is malicious or unfair. We've mentioned before that GN relies on user reports and why this is important.

Reporting is there so posters can flag concerns to GNHQ. It doesn’t mean any action will automatically be taken, and it’s for GNHQ to review reports and decide whether something needs moderation.

Posts that discourage people from reporting, or invite suspicion about who reported what, can make the site harder to moderate and may put posters off raising genuine concerns.

We're asking that this behaviour stops now, please.

I would like to know what the "guidelines" are.

You can find them at the bottom of your screen in the brown section called Help and Information.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 16-Jun-26 10:41:23

I have done none of the things Annie mentions. I feel safe (for now) but super cautious.

Good morning Allira
I hope Philip responds to your email soon. 🤞

TerriBull Tue 16-Jun-26 11:17:03

Late Good Morning Allira, hope you've got the sunshine where you aresunshine Slap the sunscreen on if you're out in it. x

Mollygo Tue 16-Jun-26 11:35:38

Thank you AnnieGransnet.

Unfortunately the atmosphere on GN at the moment is one of trepidation about posting on some threads.

A feeling that we’ve been policed off them because posting our opinions will be seen as controversial.

Controversial is an adjective used to describe something that causes prolonged public debate, strong disagreement, or divided opinions.

So anyone who does not agree with another poster-^any other poster,^ is being controversial.

But only some are reported and deleted. It’s worrying.

This may obviously be only my opinion, but even posting this is nerve wracking.

Hi Annie - there are some qualifiers missing from Mollys post. She cant really speak for the whole of GN can she and some of us are not full of trepidation re posting on some threads. I’m grateful for your restating the position re reporting threads because some of the posts on that on this thread were pretty alarming. Wanting reporting to be de- anonymised, lots of speculation and coded messages about who’s done the reporting including some recent posts clearly aimed at me. Anyway, of course you know not everyone is living in trepidation.

You’re criticising Mollygo for speaking on behalf of other people, then speaking on behalf of other people yourself Tuliptree. We can all only speak for ourselves.

I used the qualifier ‘some’ and she didn’t.

Aveline Tue 16-Jun-26 12:06:59

Give it time Tuliptree. Wait till some friends of yours disappear. It's very sad the GN can't seem to understand how unhappy many of us are about the forum.

I haven’t had a thread disappear but I think about 3 posts in the last week. I understood perfectly why someone had decided to report the threads without having to indulge in trying to track them down. I’d also question your use of the word ‘many’ - ‘some’ is much more accurate

Tuliptree Tue 16-Jun-26 12:15:01

Oops misread friends for threads. I don’t know how I’d define a GN friend so can’t imagine how I’d feel

Dickens Tue 16-Jun-26 12:34:31

I'm not full of trepidation but am now nervous about posting thoughts and opinions because the ground seems to have shifted somewhat.

Previously, I felt confident that I understood the guidelines - they made common-sense, obviously you don't bully or intimidate other posters nor make comments that flout the Law; and the 'report' button was simply part of the menu options - a 'safety net' to filter out any unhinged posts/posters. Just a brief trawl of Facebook will highlight how toxic it has become in places now that the professional fact-checkers have left the building and moderation is now 'light-touch', Texas-style.

But since the Allira-banning, like others - I'm wary. I've not read all of her posts but she was a constant contributor on various threads and I cannot reconcile what she's accused of with what I gleaned from her comments.

LauraNorderr Tue 16-Jun-26 12:53:31

Okay all of you Annies at GNHQ. I give up.
I promise to be compliant.
I promise not to fight my corner when I am wrongly accused of dismissing others
I promise not to argue in favour of justice.
I promise that I will follow the rules once they have been properly listed without ambiguity.
I can not promise that I will not continue to say good morning each day in order to show support for the return of Allira.

She did, however, specify that it was only her opinion.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 16-Jun-26 13:12:11

Having every word that of one’s post forensically examined and then pulled apart is another reason why some posters are reticent about GN at the moment.

🤣🤣🤣

Definition of many is now controversial.
Who knew?

BlueBelle Tue 16-Jun-26 14:22:26

Well I won’t stop speaking up for someone who is unfairly unable to speak for themselves
However . I m having to tread very carefully as I have been warned for the first time in 13 years that if I put a foot wrong in future I will have my account terminated.
Hopefully it's not against the rules to be upfront and truthful about this on here.

Rosie51 Tue 16-Jun-26 14:26:52

BlueBelle have you been told what a 'foot wrong' comprises?
I suppose at least you have been warned which we know Allira wasn't, but it must make posting quite painstaking to avoid any errors.
