I am widowed buy I wear my wedding ring so interested strangers think I am claimed. When I lost my husband, I put his wedding ring on a necklace aroynd my neck as I cried. I dont like jewelry so I have put it all away, now. If you are not married, do you wear special jewelry for comfort or strength? Did you wear a ring every day, if you were married? If widowed, did it change fingers, other hand, or get put in a drawer? Was it sold or given to a relative? (Just bored and wanting some stories).

I empathise with those who posted who would like to wear them and can't any more for health reasons. Maybe it could be worn on a chain round the neck instead?

I don't wear one as I'm not married to OH. Prior to that I was married twice. First time I wore my wedding and engagement rings but regularly had problems with swollen fingers - had to have it cut off and made larger, Then smaller, then it snapped after being made larger and smaller. By then we were about to get divorced anyway!

Second marriage I just skipped it. Had an engagement ring as a wedding ring, which I didn't wear very often and it was a bad marriage. Since then I've never worn rings and I don't miss it. My fingers just don't seem the right size and shape for rings! I had too many injuries from catching my first wedding ring on things! I actually feel more free for not wearing jewellery. On rare occasions I'll wear a necklace or a bracelet grandson made out of beads.

Stopped wearing my ring after my divorce in 1987. Now, after marrying my lovely H 3 years ago I have remained ring-free, I just don't want to wear one. Also haven't changed my name!

DH died 5 years ago and I still wear my wedding ring. He’s not with me but he’s still my husband and always will be.

I've been married for 46 years but haven't worn a ring for about 42..... I'm quite a bit heavier than before I had my sons, but I also have an allergy to nickel.

I wear my wedding ring on my left hand and my late husband’s ring on a chain around my neck at the moment. My ring is engraved all around with flowers but they are worn now. I’m hoping to be able to have the rings combined and engraved again. My husband died this year on Valentine’s Day so it’s early days. Have you creative ladies any other ideas what to do with the ring I don’t want to consign it to a box in the drawer?

KathrynP, I will give this a creative think but havent any ideas yet. Mainly, I just would like to say I am sorry for your loss. I am so sorry. flowers

Maybe have a jeweler cut the ring and intwine it with the other permanently then creatively add the art to the borders of a picture frame that holds a dear photo. Other small random items can be added around the frame throughout the days - miniature things of the memories that make you feel blessed in knowing him.

I was obsessed with rings of all kinds when I was a child, even the tacky Woolworth ones. Nowadays I wear a plain gold wedding ring that belonged to my grandmother and a selection of other inherited rings with various different precious stones. Today's choice is neat little ring with alternate diamonds and emeralds on my left hand and a sapphire and with two smaller diamonds on my right hand.

I love rings, and earrings, even though I don't wear any really.
To me, as a child, tey were "treasure" that featured in books.
