I am widowed buy I wear my wedding ring so interested strangers think I am claimed. When I lost my husband, I put his wedding ring on a necklace aroynd my neck as I cried. I dont like jewelry so I have put it all away, now. If you are not married, do you wear special jewelry for comfort or strength? Did you wear a ring every day, if you were married? If widowed, did it change fingers, other hand, or get put in a drawer? Was it sold or given to a relative? (Just bored and wanting some stories).

I have never had a wedding ring though I have been married and divorced. Talking of wedding rings my mother had hers stolen while she was in hospital. There are some wicked people out there. I recommend leaving yours at home if you have to go into hospital.

My first husband died, I remarried and wear a new ring, my daughter used my old ring as her wedding ring.

After my husband died I wore my wedding ring but took it off when I met someone else ... as a sign that I was ready to start dating

GrannyGravy13 - now you've awakened a memory and the whole song is on replay!

And yes, I wear my band of gold - a slim one moulded at one point with an arc so that my engagement ring nestles into it - every day and night. For baking the engagement ring comes off but that's not often.

Never worn my wedding ring at night, and often don’t in the day, certainly if I’m just at home.

Usually put it on if going out.

It’s a wide 70’s ring, very fashionable when we married nearly 54 years ago, but if I were getting married now, I would choose a thin band and wear it all the time.

Wide bands can be uncomfortable as your fingers age, have had to have mine stretched.

Me too! I take my ring off at night like you. When my fiancé and I went to buy my engagement and wedding ring in 1975, I chose a matching set of wide band and diamond solitaire set into a white gold daisy. However when I tried them on together I couldn’t bend my finger so I had the wedding ring cut in half.

Yes, I still wear a wedding ring in my widowhood.
I’m not remotely interested in another man, although friendship would be pleasant. Besides, at my age, a man would probably be looking for a nurse!

That's me as well even if I could get it off I won't.
I had my husbands ring made into a solid gold small heart I wear on special occasions, I don't usually take it on holidays or any valuable jewellry but, decided he's walking the Camino Ingles with me tomorrow!

Yes I always wear my wedding ring, a symbol of the love that DH and I shared.
The only time I have taken it off is when I had a severe allergic reaction underneath it just after we.married, but luckily it cleared up never to return.

I only take my rings off when I am gardening. I've never thought of myself as wearing lots of rings, but I have 6 that I always wear since I was given them. Wedding, engagement and eternity. A Celtic knot band DH gave me for my 60th birthday, my mother in law's engagement ring which she left me and a sapphire and diamond ring that my great aunt left to my mum but mum's fingers we're too arthritic so she gave it to me. I don't see them as decorative but they all mean a great deal to me.

I’ve always worn my wedding ring 56 years now. Did take it off a few years ago as my husband bought me an eternity ring which I now wear all the time below the wedding ring. Take my engagement ring off at night and when U clean, garden etc.

I had to have my original wedding ring cut off as it was digging in to my finger it was a 70s wide one, I had it re -modelled into two rings, one for my DD with a amethyst stone in it , I have had two more rings that I wore as wedding rings, only one DH 😂 I currently wear one like an eternal knot which I like but it has got a bit miss shaped as I have caught it and buckled the band underneath, not sure how. Perhaps another one for our golden wedding in 2 years😍

Getting married soon but won’t be having a ring.

I never notice if people are wearing a wedding ring or not, I was surprised though when my first one wore out (think it was Woolies) how many people asked if I was single, or people who knew us asked if we were divorced. Found it annoying, so I was pleased when DH got round to buying me a new one 18 months later.

I have been widowed for almost seven years and still wear my wedding ring. I wear my husbands wedding ring on my right hand

Grandma2002 Sun 17-May-26 20:36:33

Yes I wear my wedding ring I have never bothered taking it off.

Nansypansy Sun 17-May-26 20:52:27

I was married in 1972 …. The ring was my birthday present that year. I have been separated for 14 years and I do wear it simply because I really like the ring.

Eternaloptimist Sun 17-May-26 20:57:29

I never wore my wedding ring much during my marriage as I never really liked it. However, since I have been widowed I had his signet ring melted down and remodelled into a beautiful ring by a young jewellery designer. I wear this ring all the time on my wedding finger.

Grandmama Sun 17-May-26 21:35:14

Always. Years ago before I was married someone told it was unlucky to take a wedding ring off so it's been taken off twice.
Once when DD1 was born and my fingers swelled with the epidural and second time when it was cut off at A&E when I broke my wrist. Still wearing it in widowhood.

I was sentimental with my wedding ring in my first marriage it was very wide 22ct gold and I remember how he had to save so hard for it, and we were teenagers
My second marriage I’m not at all sentimental although I always wear a wedding ring this one a narrower yellow gold band.
When I mentioned to my husband on a special wedding anniversary that I wished L had chosen white gold he bought it for me along with a new white gold engagement ring and I wear whichever I feel like on the day
I know very spoilt and fickle

I stopped wearing any rings when I took up karate thirty years ago. We're not allowed jewellery for safety when sparring and also because we don't allow personal adornment. We're supposed to practise humility! 😎 It became too much faff to keep taking rings off and putting them back on. It's academic now because I can't get my rings on, let alone get them off!

FranP Sun 17-May-26 23:39:48

Cannot get mine off.

Kartush Sun 17-May-26 23:42:56

I wore a wedding ring for probably the first 10 years of my married life, then we bought a working farm and jewellery was too dangerous to wear around moving machinery so I stopped. My husband never wore rings so he didn’t care we are both of the opinion that you don’t need a piece of metal wrapped around your finger to feel married, but that is just us.

KathrynP Mon 18-May-26 02:29:46

I wear my wedding ring on my left hand and my late husband’s ring on a chain around my neck at the moment. My ring is engraved all around with flowers but they are worn now. I’m hoping to be able to have the rings combined and engraved again. My husband died this year on Valentine’s Day so it’s early days. Have you creative ladies any other ideas what to do with the ring I don’t want to consign it to a box in the drawer?

MickyD Mon 18-May-26 10:20:20

I always wear both. They’re only taken off for cleaning or being redipped then they’re straight back on. I’ve lost a little bit of weight and the engagement ring is swinging a little so I took it off recently for gardening then straight back on. My husband wears his all the time too.

Estrellita Mon 18-May-26 12:54:37

I wear mine all the time night and day. In and out of water. I used to wear my late mum's wedding ring too but sold it to get some much needed cash which I regret to this day.
