That's it.

That's how I am feeling at the moment. My hips are playing up leading to pain in my legs and I think I have some sort of skin infection on my face, which I think I will be driven for help from the doctor as I have been chasing it around my face since the Autumn, with no luck. Still summer is coming and I definitely feel better then.

I'm not! I am in denial about my age.

Teetime Sun 10-Apr-16 13:59:58

So do I. I have a prison pallor, my feet ache, I'm tired and fat.

Me too - looking after the GC beings it into focus remembering how easy it used to be to lift them up and run around with them.

O yes, I feel your pain!!!!

kassi Sun 10-Apr-16 14:40:24

Me too! I've just done an hour in the garden, now need at least an hour's rest! Was a time I could work out there all day. Not any more. Weary!

I dont yet Not sure how I shall feel when the time comes.
Do you feel old in body, mind or spirit?
This isnt the best time of year for me.
For what it is worth, you come across quite young spirited on here.

Luckygirl I remember the actual time that I discovered I couldn't carry DGS up the stairs anymore. Seemed to come on so suddenly.

I've been dieting, digging in the garden, and doing all this exercise we are supposed to do. It's just totally clapped me out.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 10-Apr-16 15:12:05

obieone, body. I've started to adopt hat old lady leaning forward when walking thing. It's just so tiring to stand upright.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 10-Apr-16 15:13:33

Thanks roses. smile sunshine

That's true jing brain still active. Like my mother body feeble but extremely quite witted given her age of 98. All is not lost.

obieone Sun 10-Apr-16 15:26:09

re exercise. I dont seem to agree with a lot of people on gransnet and in real life. It tires me out too, and doesnt seem to bring me more energy only less, as I have used it up!

I do think though[but could be wrong] that trying to stand upright is beneficial in lots of ways.

But since I can only talk for myself, what do I know?

petra Sun 10-Apr-16 16:17:33

Never forget that the man who 'invented' jogging, died while doing it.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 10-Apr-16 16:42:59

grin. (shouldn't laugh!)

petra Sun 10-Apr-16 17:25:29

That's the point, jings it's bloody funny. Well at least we think so.

A friend who has been going to exercise classes for health reasons was told by the instructor to imagine there was a string attached to her (my friends) head, which was pulling her up straight. This does seem like a good idea, and I think if you can stand up straight (my other half has difficulty with this,so it is not simple) then it does make you feel better I think. I am finding it hard to walk at a decent pace these days, which makes me really cross, pleases the other half, though because he can now keep up with me.

mollie Sun 10-Apr-16 17:47:41

Not me! I've got a new pair of trainers and while I don't look in a mirror or at my reflection I can kid myself I'm fit and trim and am just about to begin a run...grin

DH was servicing the ride-on mower today and asked me to 'hop on and switch it on' because he wanted to fiddle with the timing and it has a safety cut out that means it won't go if there's nobody sitting on the seat.

Hop on??? I had difficulty getting my left knee to bend enough to be able to slither between the brake and the seat so I managed it in the end by doing something that must have looked like an undignifided Fosbury Flop in slow motion. hmm

The really weird thing is that I can remember before old age and had no idea whatsoever what happened as you got older. My mother used to talk about her screws ( meaning her aches and pains) but I never appreciated what it meant in practice.

I can remember going to stay in a Blakeney Hotel years ago and there were some ancient relics there hobbling and now I realise that what they had was hips but no idea at the time.

Perhaps it is just as well but on the other hand if I had more awareness I would have been more sympathetic

Think it depends what I'm doing. 4 weeks ago at DS2's wedding I was on the dance floor quite a lot in the evening. I go to the gym 2/3 times a week, can go shopping - with a stop for lunch! - all day with my girlfriends. However, even thinking about housework and ironing etc makes feel tired! ! smile

Elegran Sun 10-Apr-16 18:18:15

Today I spent 5 hours on my feet, going round an exhibition. I can't even do any sitting-down-thinking jobs properly. I plan to go to bed very very early.

I also spent more than I intended to, but that is a different problem.

And now, just to finish things off, I have just polished off a white chocolate Easter Bunny which DD didn't want. So that's the fat cells filling up again, after five days of excruciating dieting. #allhopeabandoned
