Well what a surprise. The way ahead for modernising the royal family? Graham is a good interviewer and I bet William came over well. It's to do with his Earthshot prize.

The way ahead for modernising the royal family?

Make them more normal?
I dont think so personally.
If they dont have their mystery, how are they different to other people.
If they are not different to other people, then they are not Royal. In my opinion.

If Graham Norton decides to call it a day then look no further for his replacement............mind you, Prince Harry would be cheesed off to see William getting the job!

PW is on the show to publicise his Earth Shot Prize.

Andy Burnham is on Goggle Box tonight…

They are all just normal people, all of them, they are simply born into a different family to us.

In other countries Royals have been far more normal for decades.

I like it, others may not, that’s all fine thanks

I dont think they are.

Royal blood.
Centuries in some cases, of different ways of living.

eazybee Fri 23-Oct-26 09:58:35

The royal family has had quite an injection of ordinary blood, since the 18th and 18th centuries of marriage almost exclusively with German princes and princesses. Queen Alexandra was Danish, Queen Mary German, the Queen Mother Scottish, Diana English as is Catherine. Most of the wider royal family have married into the middle classes. Prince Philip was ostensibly Greek, the Duchess of Gloucester Danish (?), Princess Michael Austrian (?) and of course Harry's wife American. Very few from European royal houses which is good as so many were descended from Queen Victoria.

18th and 19th centuries....

The Princess Royal was on Wogan, many years ago.

Princess Margaret was on Desert Island Discs.

The Queen (Camilla) has featured in a documentary about domestic abuse, one of her projects, and was on the other night speaking about encouraging people to read.

I think this makes them relevant and interesting, but no less ‘royal’.

I agree. I suspect he'll be a terrific guest. He seems to communicate very well with people. I reckon he'll be a very good King with skills relevant to the present day but also with the dignity for big Royal occasions.

A one off, may just about be ok.

He’s got to do something to make people aware of his Earthshot initiative, there’s so little general interest in it.

FranP Fri 23-Oct-26 14:41:08

William has a burden on his shoulders, but he needs to stop being such a prig and get the chip off about his brother.

Although, the less said about 'It's a Royal Knockout' the better.

Romola Fri 23-Oct-26 14:51:06

eazybee I think you meant that the RF has had an injection of foreign blood, not ordinary. I wouldn't call all that German and Scandinavian royalty ordinary.

Ray82 Fri 23-Oct-26 14:51:13

I think William and his wife are lazy and I think he has a really big chip on his shoulder.Totally controlling and is jealous of Harry and Megan who are not lazy stiff or too formal.Long live Charles and Anne who show them up.

monami Fri 23-Oct-26 14:51:41

if you want a royal family to be as common as us theres no point in having them, we liked the queen because she was mysterious, she would never have gone on Norton

monami Fri 23-Oct-26 14:53:15

earth shot another waste of money, but he has to be swwn as a do gooder

Ray82 Fri 23-Oct-26 14:53:53

Knowing the rumours I wonder.Royal blood.Over time don't think so

Maybe have a look at all the projects around the world which are a result of Earth Shot…

Barbadosbelle Fri 23-Oct-26 15:00:31

Monami

Mmm. But she would appear chatting to James Bond' in the corridors at Buckingham Palace, pretend to jump out of a plane and have tea and marmalade sandwiches with Paddington Bear!!

albertina Fri 23-Oct-26 15:30:08

Memories of the awful It's a Knockout Royal episode come to mind. Let's hope Norton minds his manners.
William is a good man and I would hate to see him made uncomfortable in front of the nation.
