bookdreamer Sun 10-Apr-16 19:33:09

It's so difficult isn't it?

harrigran Sun 10-Apr-16 19:33:23

Oh you have just reminded me I too have a white chocolate bunny GC gave me.
I feel old too and everything is aching, sore or itchy. B****r this chemo.

Cherrytree59 Sun 10-Apr-16 20:33:40

flowers to you all who are not feeling like spring chicks.
My issue is the skin on back of my hands has gone very thin all of a sudden (over this winter) I am using more and more hand cream and bio -oil that I use on an op scar. But have got ageing handsshock

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 20:40:11

My skin everywhere has gone all wrinkly like a deflated balloon in the space of about a year. Veins on my legs too but not swollen. It's shocking how suddenly this happens. Also become covered in age spots! Oh, you've got to laugh though. My left hip,s very painful all of a sudden. Bl__dy hell fire.

Just had a letter from my godmother who must be getting on for 99! Suddenly I feel much younger grin

Ah! Dear lady!

Cherrytree59 Sun 10-Apr-16 20:48:01

Wot. got age spots and swollen ankle

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 20:49:15

Harrigran, I really hope you feel better soon. What matters a few wrinkles and veins etc etc if we are reasonably healthy and pain free??

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 20:51:46

My sister's got "cankles" haha!

annsixty Sun 10-Apr-16 20:52:32

I am in constant pain which has been ongoing for about 6 months. This makes me feel very old and I didn't before it all started. To get in a car seat I have to lift my leg into the car. I feel I have aged in a year and I DON'T LIKE IT.

whitewave Sun 10-Apr-16 20:52:36

How many more sessions have you got to go harrigran?

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 20:57:52

It's a damn shame and I feel for everyone who,s suffering.

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 20:58:54

It makes me realise that my problems are miniscule.

NanKate Sun 10-Apr-16 20:58:58

You have all made me laugh with your description of your aches and pains. I too have many of them. Laughing with you, not at you.

As I have my last few months in my 60s I am trying to think how different I feel from almost 10 years ago.

I am slow getting out of the chair but can manage without pushing myself up.
I walk for about 20 seconds with a slow slightly stooped gait
Then I seem to get my motor revved up and can walk quite quickly and straight, or so my friends say.
The aches and pains seem to have a rota and appear in different places in the body on a daily basis.
I go to say something and it flies out of my head, if I wait long enough it flies back in smile
I swear more under my breath with exasperation at the whole sodding business of getting old.

Beam me up Scotty. grin

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 21:07:54

I make the most awful noises when. Climbing the stairs and rising from a chair!

shysal Sun 10-Apr-16 21:13:06

Nankate, your post could have been written by me. I am also approaching 70, and suddenly there is always something that hurts!sad

annsixty Sun 10-Apr-16 21:23:22

I am being very silly and feeling sorry for myself. I will be 79 in July what DO I expect?

wot Sun 10-Apr-16 21:26:02

It's not silly to feel sorry for yourself. It's perfectly understandable.flowers

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 10-Apr-16 22:16:38

Nankate your post has got me grinning!

I'm sort of glad it's not only me. grin

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 10-Apr-16 22:17:31

Harri hope you are all better soon. x

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 10-Apr-16 22:18:36

Eat the bunny. It did actually make me feel quite a lot better, eating mine.

Galen Sun 10-Apr-16 23:26:27

I AM OLD.
I'm 71
I'm also very disabled.

SO WHAT?

My brain still works, I can still do some things.

I've just booked more cruises!
I'm going to enjoy what I can.

(Even though the MOJ think that at 72 I'll be to old to perform adequately

wot Mon 11-Apr-16 00:17:31

Hurrah, Galen! What is MOJ though?

rubylady Mon 11-Apr-16 01:54:20

Well I've just had to move the blanket covering my seat due to an accident. I never had that when I was around my toy boys! (thank goodness)

It just tends to creep up on you and I'm only in my 50's, although I don't think age has anything to do with it, it's the state of your health that counts. I'm sure some kiddies who suffer from long term illnesses sometimes feel old. And healthy older people still feel young.

Been looking at mobility scooters, one for keeping in the car and one for using locally, I might as well enjoy what I can while I can instead of being a domestic prisoner. It's been nearly 4 years now since I actually enjoyed being outside.

flowers for Harrigan and Annsixty and everyone who is feeling rough. flowers

I know I am getting old when I am sitting for over an hour looking for embroidered towels and getting a little excited about it! confused
