Is this not the daftest bit of journalism to come my way? The quote below is from the current on line SAGA newsletter, on how to "Refresh your tired home". I think that by the time we get to read this magazine, that we all probably know instinctively how to " Refresh" a room. hmm

"This may not be the most glamorous or interesting start to your mini-makeover but throwing out dated newspapers and magazines, running a duster over surfaces and skirtings, a Hoover over floors and cleaning windows so they sparkle will instantly refresh a space."

How enlightening!!!!!! Must get cracking!!!!!!!

Dusting, hoovering and throwing out old newspapers and magazines! Wish I'd thought of that!!

Do they think our marbles also went in the last clear out?hmm

Ok, I'm now fully conversant with how to suck an egg!!

You learn so much on heresmile

Anniebach Sat 21-Nov-15 10:04:29

You learn something new every day,

rosequartz Sat 21-Nov-15 10:04:58

Well! I do all that regularly- I even moved all the furniture and vacuumed in every corner the other day! And I hadn't even seen that sage Saga advice.
Must remember to tell DGD2 not to leave fingermarks and snail trails on my sparkling patio doors

ninathenana Sat 21-Nov-15 11:16:25

I must look it up immediately!

Could this be another good reason not to bother with Saga magazine? I wonder what is going on in their heads when they write this stuff.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 21-Nov-15 11:26:27

That's alright! It's so true! Making a room look nice doesn't have to involve heavy housework. We need reminding sometimes.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 21-Nov-15 11:28:30

Who hasn't got an outdated magazine lying around? Or the latest House of Bath catalogue?

harrigran Sat 21-Nov-15 11:29:45

Well the young scribbler who wrote the article probably has never actually done housework, don't the younger generation have cleaners ?

Galen Sat 21-Nov-15 11:32:33

Clean the Windows? Presumably inside only. Don't clean the outside or people will be able to see in.

Bellanonna Sat 21-Nov-15 11:52:04

Oh, I must remember that excuse Galen, it's a good one grin

POGS Sat 21-Nov-15 11:52:18

Next copy will read.

Want to make yourself more presentable.

' Try Washing your hair, have a bath or shower daily, wash your clothes regularly and don't forget bad breath comes from not cleaning your teeth. grin

ninathenana Sat 21-Nov-15 12:40:18

Guilty jings grin
There's a HoB catalogue on the coffee table right now.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 21-Nov-15 12:41:55

How did I guess. grin

rosesarered Sat 21-Nov-15 12:46:26

I WAS going to do all that today, but remembered the young DGC will be here for hours tomorrow, so no point, then on Monday I shall be busy, ditto Tues Wed Thu Fri, so oh dear it will all have to wait for the next weekend ( when the DGC will be here again and.........) grin

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 21-Nov-15 12:50:28

Another thing they recommend in the article is replacing your cushions and throws. Trouble is, I get fond of my cushions, and if I do buy new ones they are just added to the ones already there. Leaving very little room to sit on the sofa. hmm

Galen Sat 21-Nov-15 13:12:56

Diet?

rosequartz Sat 21-Nov-15 13:23:11

Who hasn't got an outdated magazine lying around? Or the latest House of Bath catalogue?

I do know one or two people like that

In fact, I haven't [smug]
(it's a Cooper's of Stortford cataloge)
And a big Lidl Christmas magazine DH just brought home
And the paper and TV Times ....
The Argos Black Friday leaflet has gone in the bin

Galen Sat 21-Nov-15 13:39:43

The only magazines I've got are archaeology and history magazines, can they go out of date?

annodomini Sat 21-Nov-15 13:45:30

The only magazines I have are U3A and NWR ones. I need to get rid of recycle the oldest ones as my mag rack is overflowing.

annodomini Sat 21-Nov-15 13:46:42

Galen grin

rosequartz Sat 21-Nov-15 14:28:47

Galen grin

The ones that are hanging around fell out of the newspaper.

The rest are neatly filed in magazine holders, or in the rack by the side of the chair since I 'refreshed' the sitting room on Thursday [smug] will it last now until Christmas with just a flick of the duster?
