Why shouldn't they, if that's what they want to do? Nobody has a right to prevent ugly sights from being paraded... That said, I wouldn't do it myself!

I couldn't agree more, feetle, I am not preventing them, I just do not understand why they feel the need.

Could the way Brits tend to strip off to minimal clothing the minute the sun comes out be linked to the lack of sun ? The best spin I can put on it, is that our bodies tell us they need the Vit D - strip off.

I try not to be overly judgemental , but I loathe and detest the sight of all these chaps stripped to the waist, often wearing silly trousies that stop below the knee, and swaggering about like pirates. There, I said it!

I dislike it too but I don't think it should be illegal. Freedom means one has to put up with lots of things one doesn't like.

Because they want to? Because they enjoy the feeling of being free of restricted clothing? I can never understand why women of a certain age wear sleeveless tops or dye their hair but accept it's because it makes them feel good

I'm sure it's not a first but GS asked me - very loudly - 'Granny, when is that man going to have a baby?'.

If every person that stripped off was beautiful/fit/handsome/slim/tanned or just plain gorgeous, the rest of us could feel quite inadequate!

So, I don't mind the "appalling sights" because they make me feel good!

I agree with*Lona*, we don't get that much sun in this country, and I know everything goes south as we get older, but cut us some slack ladies, summer doesn't last that long, and it makes us feel young again, to strip the shirt off .

That it was a joke did occur to me but there are some very silly laws out there already and, obviously, I cannot really know how other people are thinking or whether thay are joking when I can't see them or hear their tone of voice. The emoticons are useful to help indicate jokery.

I agree entirely about garden or beach, rosesareread. But I wonder what the reaction would have been if a grandad had started a thread about women who expose too much of themselves.

Oh I don't know grumppa my mum's 70ish neighbour used to garden in a bikini top and short shorts. She did put a vest top on as well to walk the dog.
So I suppose that's ok

What annoys me is when you see these unpleasantly exposed bodies, the large beer belly especially and they look at the not so slim me in a normal skirt and top as if I'm a freak !

I do worry about all that perspiration dripping unfettered onto things like café chairs. I saw one large man that looked as if he had just had a shower and it was trickling from his belly button down his stomach and dripping on the ground. Fascinating to watch, hard not to stare.
