As you seem to have enjoyed the Limerick thread and produced some great ones, I thought it would be time for something a bit different which I found on www.kathimitchell.com/poemtypes.html which is full of good ideas. I thought we would start with this type and then move onto something harder.

ALPHABET:
Each line begins with the letters of the alphabet in order.

An example - A young girl was busy working on her project for school
But suddenly she had a question.
Could this be her lucky day?
Deciding to find out, she
Entered her backyard and
Found hundreds of green shamrocks waiting for her.

Help - keep rowing as fast as you can!

DebnCreme Wed 16-Apr-14 08:43:23

In my heart I fear we are doomed!

ninathenana Wed 16-Apr-14 09:04:17

Just man your stations and we should be ok.

NanKate Wed 16-Apr-14 09:07:48

Komodo Dragons are on the shore - holy moly !!!!

Nelliemoser Wed 16-Apr-14 09:11:32

Lift the oars! Quick! lift the oars and stop.

AlieOxon Wed 16-Apr-14 09:29:40

Many a mariner would give up at this point, but

Soutra Wed 16-Apr-14 09:37:40

No!

Oars safely shipped and

Panting for breath they looked to shore

AlieOxon Wed 16-Apr-14 09:52:43

Quite dangerous - and there are pterodactyls overhead!

AlieOxon Wed 16-Apr-14 09:53:11

(I wanted 'P' !)

rosesarered Wed 16-Apr-14 10:48:21

rescue yourselves men!

shrieked the Captain

Cressida Wed 16-Apr-14 11:01:44

Tucking the ships cat safely in his
Underwear he released the lifeboat

AlieOxon Wed 16-Apr-14 11:01:57

Too late.

AlieOxon Wed 16-Apr-14 11:04:01

Very much too late....

ninathenana Wed 16-Apr-14 11:33:27

Which way is the shore ?
'xtra rations need to be loaded

HollyDaze Wed 16-Apr-14 12:10:48

Yes Cap'n sir said the first mate, lifting a box of salted fish

NanKate Wed 16-Apr-14 12:20:08

Zut alors ! I thought we were going to be saved by Daniel Craig. Where is he when you want him in a crisis?

Rosesarered what's all this about 'rescue yourselves men' I thought from the first line women were aboard, or are we going to be the bait ? grin

HollyDaze Wed 16-Apr-14 12:23:23

Arrr, we won't be needin no Craig to save us, said the captain with a wink

NanKate Wed 16-Apr-14 12:57:21

By the way Captain you promised us girls a man in Lycra swim shorts, are you denying us that pleasure ?

papaoscar Wed 16-Apr-14 13:09:49

Zebadiah! Fetch me a clean truss and tell the crew to prepare for Chapter 2 of this maritime saga. Now go and prepare my morning bath under that palm tree, after which I will address the crew. Off you go!

papaoscar Wed 16-Apr-14 13:11:11

And get rid of his damned cat in my knickers!

papaoscar Wed 16-Apr-14 13:18:00

(Should be 'this cat' - sorry!)

rosesarered Wed 16-Apr-14 13:26:19

NanKate there seemed to be both sexes aboard from reading the posts so made it 'men' but could be wrong.

rosesarered Wed 16-Apr-14 13:29:03

C now?
choppy surf girls, no lycra clad chaps would be safe
Duffy the cat has fallen overboard, oh no!

rosesarered Wed 16-Apr-14 13:30:38

Extra rum for those who row hard,

For the lazy scabs.... nothing at all

AlieOxon Wed 16-Apr-14 13:33:14

Guys? Who made this bloke captain?.......................
