As you seem to have enjoyed the Limerick thread and produced some great ones, I thought it would be time for something a bit different which I found on www.kathimitchell.com/poemtypes.html which is full of good ideas. I thought we would start with this type and then move onto something harder.

ALPHABET:
Each line begins with the letters of the alphabet in order.

An example - A young girl was busy working on her project for school
But suddenly she had a question.
Could this be her lucky day?
Deciding to find out, she
Entered her backyard and
Found hundreds of green shamrocks waiting for her.

"Hoist 'im up that palm tree, let's have a new Captain!" roared the crew.

ninathenana Wed 16-Apr-14 14:57:50

Kimonos must be warn at all times and life jackets.

(Rosesarered, fair enough equal opps must be observed, so men and women and anything in between are welcome aboard)

ninathenana Wed 16-Apr-14 17:01:22

Quiver me timbers thought Duffy

AlieOxon Wed 16-Apr-14 17:44:12

Righty-ho - it's the plank for him!

NanKate Wed 16-Apr-14 19:04:04

Sir Galahad waved from the seashore.

papaoscar Wed 16-Apr-14 19:20:59

That's odd. I thought we'd left him in Camelot doing the ironing.

Nelliemoser Wed 16-Apr-14 19:42:13

Unfortunately Sir Galahad was not waving but drowning.

NanKate Wed 16-Apr-14 20:34:23

Very nearly but with the help of Duffy the cat who has miraculously managed to reach the shore too, they both walk off into the dunes looking for firewood.

Ana Wed 16-Apr-14 20:48:21

With which Duffy built a fire, lit it by rubbing two twigs together, and went off to hunt for dinner while Sir Galahad sulked about having got his hair wet...

AlieOxon Wed 16-Apr-14 20:57:23

An Xtraordinary tale.

Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!

Grannyknot Wed 16-Apr-14 21:14:37

Zest, is what the rum'll give us.

Grannyknot Wed 16-Apr-14 21:18:32

Amazement was what she felt as it dawned on her what she could achieve.

Cressida Wed 16-Apr-14 21:24:15

By staying close to Duffy the wonder cat

papaoscar Wed 16-Apr-14 22:27:09

Creeping up, though, was a very smelly old Comodo dragon

ninathenana Wed 16-Apr-14 22:29:18

Cats are very intelligent creatures I'll have you know.

ninathenana Wed 16-Apr-14 22:30:47

Did someone say dragon shock

Soutra Wed 16-Apr-14 22:33:39

Eggzactly! replied our

Fearsome friend

Glad to make your acquaintance!

Ana Wed 16-Apr-14 22:38:11

Harrumphing under his breath about Alphabet Greediness as he smiled...

Nelliemoser Wed 16-Apr-14 23:05:10

Independent minded as Duffy was, this time he felt he needed some human company as he could not open his own tin of Whiskas.
