As you seem to have enjoyed the Limerick thread and produced some great ones, I thought it would be time for something a bit different which I found on www.kathimitchell.com/poemtypes.html which is full of good ideas. I thought we would start with this type and then move onto something harder.

ALPHABET:
Each line begins with the letters of the alphabet in order.

An example - A young girl was busy working on her project for school
But suddenly she had a question.
Could this be her lucky day?
Deciding to find out, she
Entered her backyard and
Found hundreds of green shamrocks waiting for her.

King of the snow monkeys her would have to be or higher than the lower ranks. He would be left out in the cold otherwise to shiver the day away.

Leafing through his Google list of countries who don’t eat cat, horse or have a strict hierarchy of monkeys, Duffy came upon Lyme Regis, which seemed to meet all the criteria of safety.

He turned to Sir G and Xavier and explained it was time to return to the UK and recover from their adventures.

'Must get to the end of the alphabet' Duffy said 'before we wrap up this epic trip'.

Not Lyme Regis!!!! exclaimed Sir G. Whatever next, Weymouth? Poole? Axminster (Devon I know but near enough) We don't want to bump into that Hugh Fernley-Wittingthingy again. Why not try the Mill Cafe for all the toast we can eat for £2.50?

Oh what a great idea. Toast covered in lashings of butter and maybe a sardine or two - bliss. smile

'Pot of tea for me as well, please' said Sir G. 'Earl Grey preferably, but Darjeeling would be ok. Oh yes, and a slice of lemon too please - no milk'.

'Quails egg lightly boiled too' said Duffy.

Really Duffy, said Sir G, I rather thought you`d prefer the quail to it`s egg, much more filling for a growing pussy.

"Some people just do not understand the concept of toast and for £2.50 and all you can eat for that sum. Eggs are hens, croissants are extra as is the tea (bog standard builder's and coffee just the norm) What do you expect for £2.50 ?" wailed Duffy.

"Time to climb Grandmother's Teeth" said Sir G

Universally they agreed that now they had finished their excellent Brekkie it was time to go home, their adventure was almost over.

'Very nearly home' said Duffy. Sir G was quietly snoring on Xavier's back and Xavier appeared to be walking on automatic pilot.

"Wait a minute!" cried Duffy, "Why are we being followed by that agressive -looking large vegetable marrow? Wake up, Sir G, something's wrong. Gee-up, Xavier!"

AlieOxon Tue 22-Apr-14 12:08:39

Xavier gee'd up - so much that they all fell off....into the mud

NanKate Tue 22-Apr-14 12:14:56

Yonder over the horizon Duffy and friends saw Lyme Regis in the distance. They scraped off the mud as well as they could. The folk of that town had certain standards to keep up.

Zebra crossings, coffee shops, Ice-cream parlours, all the usual things of a seaside town came into view. ‘There’s nowhere like home’ sighed Duffy.

Thanks all the Gransnetters for joining in on this World Adventure.

THE END. flowers smile wine
