Good Morning Friday 8th May 2026
(54 Posts)Good morning from Malta where the forecast says it will be dusty and windy with a high of 27°C.
I am off to the boys’ Sports Day this morning so need to be up soon as I’m going with my son in law.
Later there is tennis to watch and the ironing to do! I still haven’t done it🤦🏼♀️. Why I procrastinate I just don’t know as it will probably take less than half an hour to do it.
Yesterday was spent cleaning and doing laundry, nothing exciting.
Lovely photos yesterday. Glad Ashcombe and Oldd are having an enjoyable cruise.
Enjoy the cycling, Mick. I may take a look myself as I enjoy seeing them race in Italy. 🇮🇹
Wishing you all a good day. ☀️
Good morning from a grey Bristol.
I hope it doesn’t rain this morning, although we desperately need it, as I’m walking to my Spanish class. 30 minutes in the rain isn’t fun!
I was looking through the “meet up” threads and someone wants to have one near Bath. Bath is about 15 minutes by train, but nearly 2 hours by bus, but the meeting is somewhere outside the city.and being carless is difficult.
Anyway, another respondent suggested I started a new thread for north Bristol, etc., to meet in the very large Cribbs Causeway. I only have one response so far. I can wait!
Nothing much today.
May you all have @ safe day free from pain and sorrow.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from Morecambe Bay where again the day promises to be mainly dry and cool with the sun showing its face now again.
Early walk in the woods, where the deer were active yesterday, and the squirrels are busy stripping the beech nuts. Then on to the dog groomer.
I’ll ’groom’ DH’s hair while Crazy dog is away.
I’ll try and get a few more young plants planted then I’m off for an overnight stay with a friend in Yorkshire.
Thinking of all with difficulties and cares. Take care everyone
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather cool, grey South Yorkshire. The extra layer I wore was welcome on our walk yesterday too. I had lunch with DD and coffee with my niece then came home and walked down to the polling station.
Today I have an engineer coming to investigate why the pressure keeps dropping out on my boiler, then a short session at school this afternoon.
I have it on good authority that it is Cornergran’s birthday today. A Very Happy Birthday to you. There will be cake, I’m sure😊💐🍷🎂🎉.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Happy birthday 🥳 🎂 🎈 corner
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where rain is forecast. I have an appointment at the hair salon at 10am for highlights and a trim, typical eh? I shall wear my raincoat with a hood it’s a half hour walk. I could get a bus easily enough right to the door as it’s opposite the hospital where I used to work but I feel the exercise there and back does me good.
Actually I then have my bereavement counselling at the MacMillan unit at said hospital mid afternoon so if I walk home I’d have to go back out again in under an hour. Hmm. The hospital has a restaurant but I don’t fancy sitting in there. I think if it’s still there, a very nice deli/cafe is just 10 minutes walk up the road. I shall Google to see if it’s a possibility for my lunch. I shall have my Kindle with me - it’s book club on Wednesday night and I’m only 60% through “The Lion Women of Tehran”.
Fish and chip Friday! Excellent by the time I get home and wrung out from my session.
Happy 100th Birthday to David Attenborough a national treasure for sure.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry. It stayed dry most of yesterday with only one short shower. Happy birthday to Cornergran. Have a lovely day. Bellasnana I havent done the ironing either!
Yesterday I was very pleased with my haircut. In the morning I did some housework (not ironing) and generally faffed about. Then I voted before picking up my friend to go to our other friend's house. The lady who lost her son came too and it was nice to see her. She didn't stay too long but it was good that she felt able to leave the house. I dropped my friend off at her house and came home to a thoroughly unhealthy dinner of sausage, beans and chips.
Today I will go to the school library for a little while. I have a form to drop off at dds for dgs2 that I had forgotten to give her. Then I might resume the weeding which is endless. Have a good day all
Oh many happy returns of the day to you too cornergran! x
Good morning from a bright S E Essex.
The 11 yr old has just woken up, so I need to get myself downstairs and into chef mode and wait for his breakfast order 👩🍳
Off to the gym and then a cup of tea and catch up.
Have a good day 🙋♀️
Good Morning all from a dull-so-far central south coast. Happy Birthday Corner and I hope you have a very good day
My thoughts will be on the Isle of man today as my big brother goes under the knife again.
I have had further information from the regimental museum about my relative whose medals and WW1 paraphernalia I have donated to them. It has been such an interesting and worthwhile thing to do.
I persuaded DH that we needed to replace our 24 year-old patio table and chairs yesterday and we have ordered a new set which is being delivered today. In these parts, if you want to give something away you just put it outside your house and someone usually takes it away pdq. So we have placed the old items - including a parasol - outside the garage and hope somebody might take it all.
I have a Tesco delivery this morning too so things will be happening which will keep me from brooding on my brother's situation. Your kind messages yesterday were much appreciated. Thank you.
May all with troubles of any sort find some relief today.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I did little yesterday apart from make a batch of lemon icecream and put fruit to soak for a Barmbrack which I’ll finish today.
I spent a lot of time sneezing yesterday. A new type of pollen? I don’t know.
So I’ll pop over and see my friend today and ask if she can feed the cats at the end of the month.
OH will be visiting his bees for the second day in a row. He is worried about one of the hives. Tomorrow he will attend a meeting with his Beekeeping Association about Asian Hornets which are apparently becoming a nuisance.
Have a good day everyone. Happy birthday 🎂 corner!
I hope all goes well at your meeting FGT2.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry bright start to the day
A very Happy Birthday Cornergran 🎂🥂💐
Hoping all goes as well as it can for your brother today Gagagran
I’m heading off to the airport later for my flight down to Luton and then onward travel to Cambridge. If all goes to plan I’ll be there mid afternoon, probably a bit too late to pick up the boys from school but soon after. I’m not sure what’s planned for over the weekend but it’ll be no doubt be busy with activities
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny at the moment but I think showers may be forecast. We didn’t have any rain at all yesterday although it was very grey at times.
I was at DD1’s keeping the dog company, then had a hygienist appointment, and back to DD1’s to look after the DGDs when they returned from school.
I have a blood test at the local hospital, I’ll take a taxi, I don’t need the added stress of driving there and trying to find a non existent parking space!
My hairdresser is coming this afternoon, so a relaxing afternoon, catching up on any village gossip!
Happy Birthday cornergran, I hope you have a great day with cake! 🎂🎉
gagagran I hope your brother’s surgery goes well today and that he recovers well.
greyduster I hope the plumber can sort out the problem with your boiler quickly.
Thinking of all those who are climbing mountains at the moment, and hoping life improves for you soon.
Have a good day if you can everyone - it’s Friday again!
Happy Birthday cornergran 🎂🎉🍾🥂
Chefs hat now firmly on, his order is two soft boiled eggs with marmite toast. Yes I still spoil all the GC 💙🩷
Brook safe journey to Cambridge later
Good morning from a dry NE where the sun is starting to shine. Forecast is for thunder this afternoon.
Off to Yorkshire today to spend some quality time with DD and SIL.
Happy birthday Cornergran.
Thoughts are with poorly people.
Good morning from Shropshire.A dull start with rain forecast for later.
I had a lovely few hours with my friend yesterday. When she had left I did some admin then settled down to read and promptly fell asleep for a couple of hours.I have slept all night too so feel much better than I did this time yesterday.
I have a hair appointment this morning.DH will drop me off and then go to Sainsbury’s where I will meet him after my appointment. The grandchildren have their usual Friday night sleepover and like GG we like to have their favourite foods for them.
Happy birthday cornergran 🎂🍾🥂have a lovely day.
I hope all goes well for your brother Gagagran🙏🏻
Wishing everyone the best day possible🌷🦩
Good morning from Wiltshire.
Off to Specsavers (again) this morning to collect varifocals. A couple of returns at the retail park then home to household tasks. We have GCs to stay overnight tomorrow while DD and her DH are at a wedding. Snap with your dinner last night Grandmabatty. Only difference was we had mash but that had butter and cream in so no more healthy. 😂
Happy Birthday to you Cornergran. 🎂🍾.
My thoughts are with your brother today Gagagran 💐
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from.Bucks where we are forecast a dry but dull day .
Happy Birthday Cornergran.
DH is off to golf and I am planning a baking morning. Victoria sponges, fruit cake and Millionaires shortbread.
We are out for dinner with friends this evening at a local Indian restaurant.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.
Good morning from cool and grey South Lanarkshire.
Happy birthday cornergran.
Yesterday went well until we left DS’s house to do the nursery and school pick ups. Although all three children are in the same school the finishing times are spread over 30 minutes so it’s easier to take the car as the nursery child can be a bit of a challenge at times.
However we had driven a couple of hundred yards when warning lights on the dash began flashing. We had picked up a nail in a tyre. The Green Flag man arrived and had it changed within an hour of DH’s call.
Later, when DDoutL went out a neighbour told her that they hah had the same thing happen twice recently and that other people in the street had also experienced the same. They were convinced someone was deliberately strewing nails on the road. Very odd.
Today I’ve a podiatrist appointment and DH will have to get the tyre mended and swapped for the emergency tyre.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Off to the optician this morning as DH has developed a misty eye. See how that goes and may have lunch out
Art group yesterday was very upsetting , during our long Easter break two members have been diagnosed with cancer and one has developed other serious health problems I am not sure if the group will survive now.
Happy birthday Corner
Best wishes
Good Morning from sunny Spain. This low key week is just what I needed.
Happy Birthday Corner and others celebrating. Safe travels to those on the move.
Best wishes to all. X
I’m a regular reader and popping in to wish cornergran a Happy Birthday 🎂 💐
A happy Friday to all 🦋
Morning Mick, morning All from a grey, damp corner of Somerset.
Thank you all for your birthday wishes, much appreciated. There will definitely be cake.
No major plans for today. Had hoped for a trot along the coast to a pier I love, there’s still a chance if the weather bucks up. Otherwise I’m happy to let the day unfold as it will. There is a family meal tomorrow to look forward to.
Yesterday’s eye clinic went well, all positive until the injection. The needle wielder could do with a refresher course in both technique and manners. I’m left with a sore, swollen eye along with relief the next bout is at least 14 weeks away.
Rat-gate is getting me down now. Baby rats are having a whale of a time playing chase round our plants, next week can’t come soon enough when there should be clarity over management of the whole family or indeed families.
TiB time here. There may also be breakfast, I’m very lucky with the Butler.
My thoughts go to all with challenges today. Wishing everyone the best day it can be.
