I've got used to the red herrings and implausbible plots; as for tv cops doing daft things, remember how often Scully [or was it the other one] used to go into dark houses without a torch? These are 'lead you up the garden path' programmes. What did amaze me was how distraught the S.O. and I were when Saga was shot, and how incredibly fond I had become of her character. As a detective series it was full of inconsistencies but it all came down to what 'truth' actually is and, when it came to 'goodies and baddies' was Martin the real baddie because of the way he had treated people throughout his life? It was eye opening to see the world through someone who didn't know how to lie. Agree about August, although it did bother me that I kept thinking I was watching Jonny Wilkinson in a change of career; as someone that tends to suffer from claustophobia the latter part of the programme left me feeling drained; it was real 'watching through my fingers' stuff. The girl on the bridge would have been ok; police in these programmes seem to know just where to shoot people so it doesn't kill them. Something I have missed out on [I read this in a review] was the humour generated from the fact it was both a Danish police force and a Swedish one; as I never had any idea which country they were in from one minute to the next I didn't pick up on any of the culture clashes that caused.
