Is anyone actually surprised? They will literally try anything to get into the UK.

I don’t believe they are all mentally ill.

Oreo Thu 16-Apr-26 13:52:30

Now that the BBC have done the job of going undercover to bring this to public and government’s notice, the big question is what will be done to stop it.

Wyllow3 Thu 16-Apr-26 14:00:37

No they are not "all" mentally ill.

But I totally, utterly, agree with twaddle

"In layman's terms, I don't think many people would accept that somebody who murdered 13(?) women for no reason was sane".

Wyllow3 Thu 16-Apr-26 14:04:19

Thank you to the Beeb - I imagine solicitors or lawyers should be struck off unable to practice? There may be laws I'm not aware of on top of that?

I imagine the press will now be very on top of it to "out" those concerned, and quite right too.

As long as they get it right and those who are fighting the corner for genuine gay people are not struck off.

There are evil people who just have no conscience and do whatever pleases them.

They're called psychopaths.

No need for the press to go looking, the footage is all over social media.
The woman solicitor proudly claims she has been doing this for 17/18 years.

I don’t think we can hold our breath for this bent lawyer thing to go away.It will have been known about for years but nothing done to stop it.

All? Which all?

To be honest, it doesn't matter much what you believe.

There are certain legal definitions of mental illness and there will always be people who have conditions which don't match the definitions exactly. Psychiatrists themselves disagree about some of the categorisation of mental illness.

I think the latest word is sociopath 😁
They don’t need a label tho, they have a reason for doing what they do, it’s because they enjoy it.

Oreo Thu 16-Apr-26 14:19:24

It matters to me what I believe twaddle just as am sure what you believe matters to you.

I agree

When they’re eventually caught ( serial killers) they usually all plead the MH card.
I think the definition of a serial killer is more than two people are murdered.

Wyllow3 Thu 16-Apr-26 14:25:34

I really have problems with using the term plead the MH card

because its a real down on those with genuine and benign MH issues

and is frequently used as such

and has now become an insult which does no favours to those with genuine MH problems

and I think its well time to stop using it thus.

Please.

Oreo Thu 16-Apr-26 14:32:17

No, I shall use whatever phrase I think fits Wyllow3 and if you have a problem with it then so be it.

Wyllow3 Thu 16-Apr-26 14:56:01

I have seen grown men cry because of such taunts, because they cannot work: mocked in pubs: women who are blamed for not doing this or that properly in the home

and it cuts deep, which is why I asked.

I agree.

It does a huge disservice to those who genuinely have problems with their mental health. Unless someone has a proper diagnoses, they should not be allowed to use that as an excuse for bad behaviour.

Not all people who have problems with their mental health would behave badly or carry out criminal acts, so it is totally unfair on sufferers if it's used by some as an excuse for breaking the law.

Allira Thu 16-Apr-26 15:22:59

I agree with Ore, quoted wrong post, sorry.

But yes, I also agree that those accused of criminal offences should stop pleading MH problems unless they have been diagnosed
because its a real down on those with genuine and benign MH issues.

Wyllow3 Thu 16-Apr-26 15:42:23

Allira, the phrase is frequently well used in many contexts and has been for some time, and that is why it is now offensive and outworn.

Is anyone honestly surprised?
We have so many dodgy solicitors, never mind those who were never qualified in the first place.
I know I was shocked when I googled a neighbour, who I knew had been struck off for fraud and money laundering, to see his name among the list of so many others - dozens and dozens - who had also been struck off.

MayBee70 Thu 16-Apr-26 16:06:19

I’m thankful that I don’t live in a country in which gay people are executed. Just imagine living under that burden.

So am I.

But I do not like the thought of heterosexuals lying about their sexuality, claiming to be gay in order to claim asylum either.

Galaxy Thu 16-Apr-26 16:18:37

And of course it is quite possible that those people are involved or support what is happening to gay people, many seemed quite homphobic to me.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-Apr-26 16:52:44

Farage must be thrilled at the amount of oxygen threads like this give Reform.

A total of 2% of applications in 2033 (latest figures) claim sexual orientation as the reason for seeking asylum. Presumably this includes those doing so falsely.

I can think of a lot of other things that my energies can be put towards worrying. False claims - now being investigated are not one of them.

TerriBull Thu 16-Apr-26 17:00:17

That may be so! but this thread is equally about bent manipulative lawyers.
