Frankly, I would never spend time doing anything other than washing and drying myself, file nails, shaving my legs and doing my hair.
I can no longer see to thin my eyebrows. although I can still manage to quell my beard and moustache.
If you enjoy a beauty regime that's fine. I was brought up to think it a shameful waste of time (vanity was a vice in my childhood), so I tend still to feel guilty if I spend a lot of time on my appearance.

Self care/ pampering do you have time?
(69 Posts)This morning I have managed more than a quick shower, I have exfoliated, used a hair mask and face mask.
My serums and moisturiser have all been applied using a little electrical device that makes my skin tingle, I am covered in an oily body lotion and am about to tackle toes and fingers before I blow dry my hair.
This seems to have taken up a lot of the morning and I am not finished yet!
I would love to say I am going to build all this in to a daily routine but honestly I do not think I have the time.
Do you spend much time on self care or like me are most mornings a quick shower and some moisturiser?
I can’t stand facials. They make me claustrophobic.

I’m always an early bird so I make the time for myself. I am lucky enough to have a lovely lady come to my home to do my manicure and pedicure as well. In between her visits I do look after my hands and feet as well
For me self-care is about relaxation and rejuvenation so I have a little more energy. It doesn't include wearing make-up, most of which contains carcinogens and other chemicals, or having false nails or eyelashes applied - also using chemicals of some kind or other. I go to sound baths for the benefits of the vibration, for massage for the feel-good factor and the stimulation to the lymph system, and I use my breathing exercises to keep regulated. All of these things are for me to experience and not to promote some reaction in others.
I am very wary of putting 'products' on my skin. I might use a bit of unperfumed E45 lotion if my face looks dry and I used their sunscreen this year. That's it really. Hand cream in the winter when I tend to get horrid cracks around my finger nails from biking in the cold. I went to a spa with The Girls once - never again. Thank goodness it was only a day trip. Expensive, minimal healthy food in a buffet. Never been so bored.
Good for you, Im so glad you took the time to look after yourself. It seems we all care for others but forget ourselves. Bring it on!
I've started using a hairdryer, does that count?
It’s a daily shower for me. I wash my hair every 3 days, unless I’m going out for lunch or dinner when I make more of an effort. I rarely have a bath these days. I shave underarms, legs and personal bits regularly. Visit hairdresser every 6 weeks and have highlights about twice a year. I do enjoy a pedicure, but only during the months I wear sandals or am holidaying in the sun. On special occasions I have a manicure with gel polish, which isn’t particularly good for the nails. I cleanse and moisturise daily and exfoliate every couple of weeks.
I only wear blusher and lip gloss and occasionally mascara.
The days I love are when I’m gardening, with comfy clothes and no makeup!
Every few weeks I give myself a facial and I have to say it does feel nice afterwards. I use a facemask, soak my feet in a bowl of water while it dries, and remove dead skin, cut toenails dry and moisturize my feet.
Then remove face mask and cleanse and tone my my skin using a small silicone face massager. I rinse off in cold water and it feels SO good, I do it regularly. It really brightens my complexion.
I paint my toenails, then give myself a manicure and apply polish to fingernails.
It doesn't take long but for me, I get a boost and feel good. It's a little routine which is worth the effort.
Nivea and a crystal file for nails and hair removal 🙄👍☘️
They are called an everything shower in the influencer world on social media.
After watching Panorama I think I am only going to put perfume on clothes and only use skin products on a rare occasion from now on. I hope at nearly 69 to last a lot of years yet and don't want to give bowel cancer an excuse to move in. 🤞🤞

I do have the time - but I really can't be bothered!
Never had the time until I retired, then began to do some, but since HE retired, I barely have time in the morning before he is dragging me out somewhere.
He huffs and puffs about my hairdresser being half an hour away.
Exactly
I do love a bath but rarely indulge as it's a lot of water and we do try to be "eco", but when I do that's when my feet get the attention - pumice stone, nails cut, cuticles done etc.
I think when you only shower your feet tend to get neglected unless you do the whole soak-feet-in-a-bowl-of water thing. I don't see looking after your feet as an indulgence anyway, it impacts on your health.
I'll often just wash the pertinent bits at the sink and forgo the shower - it takes longer cleaning down the shower screen etc afterwards than it does cleaning me! (We have very hard water so it's even more hard work if you don't do it straight away).
Never use anything but water on my face and nether regions, exfoliate body regularly with those exfoliating mitts whenever I shower.( I wish I could get OH to do the same instead of leaving flakes of dry skin in the bed, his socks etc!)
Whatever's on offer at the time on my face, Tesco Aloe Vera body lotion. Body Shop White Musk for special occasions, ditto eye make up but never foundation or lipstick.
OH and I cut each others' hair (I hate hairdressers) but I do wash it or do dry shampoo regularly and use mousse and hairspray as it's very fine and now getting thin too.
Keep my nails medium length - I've found having them really short they seem to get dirtier - and use hand cream when I remember and when I'm not about to use a phone, tablet or laptop!
I wear makeup every day. I do my own nails, colour my own hair but do have it cut every six weeks. I shower most of the time but just love to have a long warm bath for about an hour and read my favourite magazine. The most annoying thing is I still suffer from acne at the age of 74 which drives me nuts. Any advice on this would be welcoming.

I’ve moisturised my face and neck ever since I was in my late teens after a friend advised me to do it. It fared me well for a long time until gravity took over. And I’ve always pampered my hands but they too now have breaking nails and are disfigured with arthritis. But I never thought about pampering my feet until I decided that, with a knee replacement on the horizon, I needed to clear up any fungal infections. Can’t believe how much better my grotesque toenails look after being oiled daily. I’ve become quite obsessive about doing it. And I decided recently to stop putting strengthening varnish on my fingernails so cut them short and started applying No 7 Nourishing Nail and Cuticle care on them. It’s so old they probably don’t make it any more. I was surprised to find that they stopped breaking so badly. I’ve always used hand cream but didn’t concentrate on the nails themselves. As for pampering the rest of my body, I don’t think there’s a part of me that doesn’t need attention of some kind. When I go away, which I did recently, I take a bag full of potions. My nighttime procedure takes forever ( when I remember to do it). Going from head to toe
Regaine to stop my hair falling out
Eye cream
Dry eye drops
Serum
Night cream
Toothpaste
Interdental sticks
Various creams for my shoulder acne; seems to be a post menopausal thing
Hand cream
Nail cream
Skin firming cream on my thighs ( doesn’t work cellulite still there)
Voltarol on knees
Nether regions…
Anusol sometimes
Replens sometimes
Athletes foot cream
Fungal nail treatment varnish
Tea tree oil on smaller nails
Skin softening cream sometimes
I’m exhausted by the time I get into bed…
I feel exhausted just reading this!!

Me too!!! Cleaning my hands, face and teeth is about the limit of my usual pre-bed routine, and I find even that a chore!!!
