Self care/ pampering do you have time?

This morning I have managed more than a quick shower, I have exfoliated, used a hair mask and face mask.
My serums and moisturiser have all been applied using a little electrical device that makes my skin tingle, I am covered in an oily body lotion and am about to tackle toes and fingers before I blow dry my hair.
This seems to have taken up a lot of the morning and I am not finished yet!

I would love to say I am going to build all this in to a daily routine but honestly I do not think I have the time.

Do you spend much time on self care or like me are most mornings a quick shower and some moisturiser?

My Mil had lovely skin in her 80s. She put it down to washing with oatmeal.

I have never owned any makeup! - except maybe white lipstick in the 60s.

I wouldn't know where to start with it.

I have black eyelashes so mascara would be a bit superfluous and olive skin that would make me look like a clown with makeup on.

I rub in a bit of Garnier face cream in the morning and that's it - Bob's your uncle!

I cut my own long hair - hate hairdressers - they do what they want and leave you to "style" it somehow back home. Easier for me to just let it grow and sweep it up in a clip on hot days.

Thinking about it I don't have any friends who use makeup - and none of my DDs do either.

Creatures of nature out here in the wilds!

I’m very into caring for my internal health, skin, teeth, nails, and hair. Self-care looks different for everyone. It’s a subjective term.

Not often enough. I pamper my hands and feet as they are the worst to keep smooth and soft, but my face often gets just a splash of cold water .
I shall try and make more of an effort.

Well I have to say I had a spring in my step today after my little session.
I went out without make up on and my skin was definitely glowing, I also had a zoom meeting this afternoon and only put a bit of lipstick on.
I am going to try a bit harder to spend more time on myself.

Go for it 👍🏻

We should all have the opportunity to care for ourselves in whatever way suits us

MT62 I had liposuction on my neck. Brilliant, I have a jawline again!

Can’t be bothered with creams etc., they don’t work, it’s just temporary so I have Botox and fillers.
Love my makeup, but hate things which take a long time. Hell would be a spa weekend. Yawn..
Hair coloured, but stretch it out as long as I can with root spray.

I suppose I’ve always done self care . I’ve had a skin care regimen since my teens as I had oily skin and suffered from acne . I cleanse , tone and moisturise every night , and always remove make up . I use serums am and pm and use a roller thing as recommended by Trinny .
I shower daily and moisturise. Exfoliate and shave when needed. Wash hair every other day . I get my hair cut every 6-7 weeks and hi lights every 3 months
I have naturally strong nails and do them at home . Toes , I go to a nail bar .
I do yoga for balance and flexibility and do classes with weights for bone and muscle strength.
Listing everything seems a lot

I’ve moisturised my face and neck ever since I was in my late teens after a friend advised me to do it. It fared me well for a long time until gravity took over. And I’ve always pampered my hands but they too now have breaking nails and are disfigured with arthritis. But I never thought about pampering my feet until I decided that, with a knee replacement on the horizon, I needed to clear up any fungal infections. Can’t believe how much better my grotesque toenails look after being oiled daily. I’ve become quite obsessive about doing it. And I decided recently to stop putting strengthening varnish on my fingernails so cut them short and started applying No 7 Nourishing Nail and Cuticle care on them. It’s so old they probably don’t make it any more. I was surprised to find that they stopped breaking so badly. I’ve always used hand cream but didn’t concentrate on the nails themselves. As for pampering the rest of my body, I don’t think there’s a part of me that doesn’t need attention of some kind. When I go away, which I did recently, I take a bag full of potions. My nighttime procedure takes forever ( when I remember to do it). Going from head to toe
Regaine to stop my hair falling out
Eye cream
Dry eye drops
Serum
Night cream
Toothpaste
Interdental sticks
Various creams for my shoulder acne; seems to be a post menopausal thing
Hand cream
Nail cream
Skin firming cream on my thighs ( doesn’t work cellulite still there)
Voltarol on knees
Nether regions…
Anusol sometimes
Replens sometimes
Athletes foot cream
Fungal nail treatment varnish
Tea tree oil on smaller nails
Skin softening cream sometimes
I’m exhausted by the time I get into bed…

I feel tired just reading about all these regimens 😴

Gone are the days when it took me about two hours to get ready to go out.
I get distracted by books .
I love a bath and spray myself with scent .
I always use a cheap skin cream followed by sunblock.
My make up takes about five minutes.
I have to use bronzer or I look like a ghost .
As a child I was called Snow White -white skin ,rosy cheeks and very dark hair .
I use Nutrisse red .
I trim my hair myself.
It needs conditioning .
I think that it needs styling and perhaps is old fashioned in this bun .
My nails are short .
I use OPI to strengthen them .
I try to remember to paint them .

A shower and hair wash. Moisturiser. Hair styled and make up every morning. Do all nails myself. Hair every six-eight weeks colour and cut. Walking for exercise and a good diet, and I’m still dropping to bits. One tries.

BlueBelle Tue 06-Oct-26 15:16:25

Couldn’t be bothered with all the phaffing
Daily shower wash my hair in the shower , blow dry hair, bit of make up just eyeliner, mascara and lipstick. Puff of perfume…
I m done Start to finish 15 minutes that’s my lot for the day
Bite my nails, never had to shave my legs no hair on them , normal eyebrows never done anything to them.
Wouldn’t go out without earrings not even to the allotment
Hair trim every five weeks £19
Never ever bothered with any creams or potions. Still feel fine without any extras

No time for self care, looking after stroke affected husband takes all.my time, but envious of those of you who can indulge. Taking a shower is fraught in case he calls me just as I have got wet!

4allweknow Tue 06-Oct-26 15:28:34

Shower and moisturiser, deodorant. A slap on of foundation, eyebrow pencil (I have no eyebrows and tattoo fading). If hair washed, a spray of hairspray and occasionally a squirt of volume dry shampoo if wanting a bit more style. I cannot be bothered with the miriad of lotions and potions that supposedly keep us young looking or make us younger looking.

^I'm an atheist. I cut my nails with scissors and would not be seen dead in a nailbar. My only concession to self-care is having three nailbrushes, one at every sink^
Is being an atheist relevant to self care, Butter and Jam?

Is literacy relevant to comprehension?

Granny Gravy13; "Yes, I am a believer in self care."

I quoted the above, and replied " I am an atheist".

I used to have a facial every month when I was working. Upon retirement it was every six weeks until the cost spiralled to £60 a time. Now I use face wash every morning, moisturise with vitamin E cream and factor 30, serum every night, hand cream at least twice a day. Pointless doing manicures due to the allotment work. I go to the chiropodist every three months plus have a massage every six weeks. I don’t possess any make up at all. I do use a body lotion after showering. Keep it simple I say !

I have the time but can't be bothered with the faffing. I keep clean and clean my teeth. Some days I brush my hair.

Norah Tue 06-Oct-26 16:01:07

Yes I've time.

I shower, wash/blow dry hair, face lotion, lippy.

Silver hair balayaged and trimmed every few months.

No nail salon, I varnish toes and buff finger nails.

Emeraldforest Tue 06-Oct-26 16:51:55

I haven't been to the hairdresser since before Covid, one of my daughters cuts it and I colour it. I just keep my nails short. I pay more attention to my feet as it's getting difficult getting down there and I'm determined to keep them acceptable! I like doing face packs and also those foot pack sort of sock things.
I don't really do make up but put on serum daily, lipstick and perfume.
I am the oldest of a bunch of ladies that clean a big office. They are very well turned out!
