Good morning from a close Bristol. I shall “melt” today.
The morning was a bit busy yesterday, with bed changing and laundry, making gluten-free biscuits, tidying up and preparing lunch for DD when she arrived.
The usual 3rd degree with the bank to move money and buy some premium bonds, as some bonds have matured, etc. I find this very wearing and hugely triggering every time, so ended up in tears. Again.
As we sat down to lunch, my doorbell went. It was the supply manager who wanted to test my fire alarm and alarms in all the rooms. As it was the first time in absolutely ages (certainly not the 3-monthly test), I helped him…
I had a teeny rest before my friend picked me up to collect the fruit basket from the greengrocer. It wasn’t just one box but two boxes full of apples, kiwi fruits, satsumas and bananas! Such generosity!
Once in church, we carried the baking to the kitchen, the fruit to the raffle area where it was decided that this’s was fa4 too much for one prize, cue hunt for smaller box and split the fruit.
Today, I’m in church again to set up. But I can only do half the stuff as there will still be coffee and chat. I have to wait until it’s over before transferring most of the china, the coffee machine, etc. as there fete starts at 2pm, I won’t have too much time…
I hope I have more than the 2/3 helpers coming; all the potential ones are on holiday. Most church people don’t offer their assistance, which is rather annoying.
May you have a great weekend, stay cool and safe.

Good morning from Mallorca where another hot, sunny day is dawning.

Yesterday’s visit to the Rafa Nadal Academy was a dream come true for me! The facilities there are so good, lots of students still staying for summer school and many of them out on the numerous tennis courts.

The museum was amazing as well. The boys were so good and did a lot of walking so were rewarded with a treat in one of the many restaurants there.

We then had a 45 minute drive to Palma Aquarium. Another great experience, the boys loved it and spent a long time in the play area after we had seen all the fish and watched a 3D show about whales.

Had a lovely meal by the beach. It is much cheaper to eat out here than it is in Malta and the food is really good.

Back to our accommodation and we all went in the pool which we had to ourselves. A lovely end to the day.

All is quiet now so I’m drinking my tea before the two Treasures wake up, then we will plan our day.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

Sounds like the perfect holiday for one and all, bellas!

Good morning, it’s beautifully cool here on the hillside in south Glos; we had a brief but very welcome thunderstorm yesterday late afternoon. We watched it slowly approaching, hoping it would reach us! All too often the rain splits to either side of the hill, bypassing us.
What a great time you are having Bellasnana, I do love reading about the places people visit.
Another very busy day for you grandMattie, I hope your fête goes well. You put so much effort into everything you do, I hope it’s appreciated.
As it’s supposed to be a bit cooler today I will do some gardening first thing, there’s always something to do, deadheading, brushing up debris etc.
Have a pleasant weekend x

Good morning from the NE Mids. Looks like another warm day here and I fear we may need to resort to using tap water for our veggie garden and greenhouse, most of out water butts are empty and we had well over 1500 litres, if not more, in reserve in the spring!
Have a good day one and all!

Good morning from s somerset, another hot day here

I did do a lot of heavy work yesterday, allotment and garden stuff, dismantling another hefty old blueberry from its pot. Two are remaining to be dismantled next year, to provide some berries for one more year. The photo shows one, both are now sparse and showing their age

The pots are nice, look like half barrels and have a lip all around the inside but it was impossible to get plants out. It is a shame but the plant lifespan was ending and they did very well for 15 years. I have to get these things done while I can lift and carry

Meantime I ordered 6 new, practical planters with outside lips, almost the same dimensions but I will be able to slide plants out every 3 years to refresh their soil. They hold 90 litres each, 4 new plants are on the way so they can begin to establish in the new planters and I will re-plant the 2 young plants during autumn, I might have to cut those small barrel pots to remove the plants without damage

Two tip runs yesterday and I left the barrel planters on the ground, I was pleased to see that they were all taken. They were good planters but just not practical

I did recline outside in the shade, late afternoon and read my book and my watch said I had a nap. More relaxing today, I will be sitting to enjoy the ground cover garden, the butterflies and bees, otherwise this special time will come and go

No allotment today, just perhaps a walk and me time, to recover

Good morning all from a misty North Leicestershire.

We are off to the theatre this afternoon to see Abigail's Party. It is one of our favourite plays and we see it whenever possible. I think there might be football on tv later too.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from sunny South Lanarkshire.

Isn’t it wonderful to spend so much time with your family Bella? We had three weeks with DD’s, memories to last a lifetime.

I did a M&S food shop yesterday, picked up lots of nibbles as we are having friends round this evening and I’ve become rather lazy.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is set to be a little cooler today. I had a second physio appointment for my hand arthritis yesterday and he gave me a splint for my thumb. I have small, very slim hands and this thing feels like a boxing glove but I suppose I shall have to do my best with it. I did a short session at the gym which is in the same building and then came home. Most of the rest of the day I had what felt like neuralgia in one side of my face and ended up taking pain relief last night as it kept me awake. DH rang in the evening for a chat. He’s not had a good week.

Today, I shall do a small shop and then it will be a ‘suck it and see’ day. Yesterday I started a wardrobe cull. I think there will be more of that!

Have the best day you can, folks.

Ashcombe Sat 18-Jul-26 06:43:37

Good morning on another fine day in La Sarthe but it’s definitely becoming cooler which is welcome.

Yesterday we were in the garden for all but the afternoon when it became very hot again. I admire DH’s energy in making the garden look more presentable. He soon disposed of the large hanging branch, brought down by the wind using the chain saw then he trimmed several other untidy shrubs. He does well for 77. I can only watch and provide drinks periodically!

Perry has to go back to the cattery today in preparation for our journey back to the UK tomorrow. Typically, he hasn’t appeared yet this morning!

Your holiday sounds perfect and the pictures are gorgeous, Bellasnana.
I hope the support is forthcoming after your hard work, grandMattie.

Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

Good morning from the east coast. We have another lovely weekend forecast.

We need to do a big shop this morning. This afternoon my sister and brother in law are arriving from Kent to stay for a couple of nights. We are out for an Indian meal tonight.
Tomorrow they are visiting mum at her holiday home and uncle in hospital.

They took my uncle for a scan on his chest, abdomen and pelvis as we were leaving him yesterday. All his blood tests, ECGs have come back with no concerns. No one can understand the rapid decline we’ll see what the CT scan says.
We had lovely fish and chips at a little fish and chip restaurant called the Tunny club on the seafront in Scarbrough. Mine were gluten free and very tasty.

Wishing everyone a lovely Saturday 🌼

ginny Sat 18-Jul-26 07:07:31

Good morning.
We had a super Golden anniversary celebration meal ( belated as we were away) last evening. All arranged by our 3 daughters. All our close family, delicious food , balloons and photos and an amazing cake.
Today we have friends coming to visit so must get going.
Wishing all a good and kind day.

Good morning Mick and all from a b&b near Edinburgh. It’s cloudy but I’m sure it will be another warm day as we make the final leg home. Yesterday we called at Glamis castle. My friend and I had a conducted tour while DH and Crazy Dog explored the grounds. I’ll post pics tomorrow - they haven’t come through onto my iPad yet. Take care everyone 🌸

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s currently 13°C with a ‘chance of showers’ and a high of 22°C.

I’ve just watched a train pulling out of Platform 1 on its way to Manchester Oxford Road as the kettle boiled for my TiB.

L’il Miss is coming over this morning. We will do our usual chatting, playing then a mooch around the cheap shops Home Bargains and Poundstretcher before we nip into Greggs for chicken goujons, chicken poppers and potato wedges which she takes home for herself and the Boy Wonder. Their mum says a treat of a ‘beige lunch’ won’t do them any harm occasionally. 😁

At 5pm I’m meeting my newly widowed friend (neighbour too from next door but two). We’ve decided to have a wine in the bar we like on the corner before going over the road for Lebanese food. Birds of a feather comes to mind. I’ve been widowed almost 5 months now, she only 2. We both find it tough at times, various triggers press the grief bruise.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and sunny. Much cooler this morning. Bellasnana these are such lovely photos. You are having a wonderful time. GrandMattie 💐 probably tears of frustration. Ashcombe safe journey back.
Yesterday I had a busy morning. I nipped to aldi to pick up rolls and milk etc for the family returning later in the day, dropped the produce at their house then headed home to put a washing out and tidy up. Then I went to Stirling to see my son. I duly admired all his DIY improvements while he made a lovely crisp salad with additional bits and pieces. We sat and blethered for a couple of hours before I headed home. Dd messaged to say they had gone through passport control at the same time as the Rangers first team and dgs1 was beyond excited. He was too shy to speak to any of them though. I expect that will be his best holiday memory 😂.
Today I'm meeting a friend for breakfast at the garden centre. I will need to get petrol at some point. My local garage looks to be having work done, so I'm not sure where I will go. Firstly I will have another cup of coffee and contemplate. Then strip the bed and wash again. It would be good to get it hung out before I leave for breakfast instead of after. I might see the family at some point this weekend. Have a good day all.

Marzipan22 Sat 18-Jul-26 07:19:14

Good morning from my cool, calm patio in Cornwall where the sun has still to emerge from behind the trees.

A quick coffee and then a bus trip to do some freezer food shopping before the heat rises. Yesterday my flat was two degrees cooler so I was able to get on with some denim reconstruction - two tops which I'm turning into a waistcoaty/jacket thing (still very much in the emerging stage 😀).

Later I'll be joining my family at Wetherspoons to celebrate my eldest son's birthday before we take up a whole row in the cinema to watch Toy Story 5. My granddaughter especially will love the horsey parts of the film.

Even later I may watch the last England match of the World Cup.

Gingster Sat 18-Jul-26 07:20:32

Good morning all.
What a lovely day we had yesterday. A coach journey to a huge garden centre where I could have stayed all day. So many lovely things.
As I was heading towards to tills and exit which was a long walk, a man fell into step behind me, didn’t speak just followed each way I went . As I stopped to look at things, he stopped too.
Arrived at the tills and there he was but with nothing to buy.,
I left the building to look for my friend and he called out to me ‘Trish, over here’. As I looked round. He said ‘where are you going’. ?
I said ‘I’m not Trish’.
The look of shock on his face as he said ‘Oh bluddy hell’. 😂🤣.

I later saw his wife ‘Trish’ . I’m nothing like her.

Back on the coach and caught the boat for our trip along the River Lee. Fish and chips were served as we meandered along.
Perfect weather and idyllic scenery. We went through locks and we’re headed towards London through nature reserves with lots of wildlife. Good company, with a very knowledgable lady telling us the history of the canal. A really lovely day.

Today I have two brothers, one sister in law, two nephews and one neice in law from Bratislava arriving for lunch. DS1 , DIL and Dd will pop in later to say ‘hello’.

Lovely pics Bellasnanna.sweet little boys.
Don’t work too hard GM , try to delegate .

Must get on. Take care 🌺

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny with a cool northerly breeze, a slightly cooler day is forecast. Bingo yesterday lunchtime was fun, even though I didn’t win anything. I was fairly busy in the afternoon, clearing out a small chest of drawers holding lots of shopping bags! The chest of drawers is in the garage awaiting disposal and there are a lot of paper and plastic bags in their respective recycling sacks.

No plans for today, DD2 and family are off to Italy for a week, not sure if I’ll see DD1 as they’re usually very busy at weekends. The 11 year old had an enjoyable but emotional last day at junior school.

grandmattie another busy day for you today, I hope you have some help this afternoon at the fete, hopefully you can have a rest tomorrow?

bellasnana a busy day yesterday, but it sounds such fun. I’m sure the pool was very welcome at the end. Have a good day today whatever you plan to do.

What an amazing cake ginny, I’m pleased you had a lovely celebration.

ash I hope Perry puts in an appearance soon!

Safe and delay free journeys to everyone on the move today and tomorrow.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. After a busy day yesterday a bit quieter today. Plumber coming at some point to sort out taps and I have a small amount of shopping to do.
Lovely anniversary photos Ginny
Best wishes

Good morning from S E Essex it is sunny and glorious, after a local shop I will be in the garden with my kindle enjoying the summer.

Yesterday was a mix of emotions, I am so proud of our 11yr old, but oh so sad that the era of him being in the little primary school next door but one. It’s time for him to move onwards and upwards 😿👍

Sounds like you are all having fun Bellasnana

Safe journey Ashcombe

FGT2 have fun with L’ll Miss

Hope Marydoll is feeling better 🌸

GrannyGravy13 Sat 18-Jul-26 07:49:00

Oops lovely photos ginny that cake looks scrummy

Gagagran Sat 18-Jul-26 07:49:00

Good Morning everyone from a cooler, central south coast. The forecast says max. temperature 24 degrees today which will be just the job.

DH has his coffee and cake ride with his cycle club this morning and I shall attempt some chores now it is not so hot.
I even had the summer weight duvet on my bed last night for the first time in ages and slept better for it.

Has anyone else noticed that their finger nails have grown more quickly with all the sunshine we have had? Both DH and I have noticed that and think it is the sunshine causing it.

Hope the day is a good one for all those with plans, a restful one for the weary or unwell and a happy one for us all.

brook2704 Sat 18-Jul-26 07:52:43

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright with light grey clouds

Lovely picture of you both ginny and wow - the cake!!!
Just housework and gardening for me this weekend, oh and a trip to Tesco, mustn’t forget that!
Oh Gingster so funny!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
