Good morning from Sheffield.
I’m up about this morning, have been for my walk and tended to the garden on this nice cool morning.
I’ve even cleaned up a few outside windows. I think I will just carry on pottering outside this afternoon.
We are out at teatime, going out for tea and then we’re going to see Derren Brown in the city. It was bought for us as a present for Christmas by our son and daughter-in-law .
He went last night and said it was very good but wouldn’t give me any details to keep the surprise.
Take care everyoneflowers

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A pleasant 18°

I began to bake my usual lemon drizzle cake for the Saturday open house but no lemons.
Ah well it can be plain with an icing. Then I found someone must be the French helpers have broken the weighing scales.
Never mind I can guess the amounts roughly.

I usually make the cake the night before but I was invited to supper with DS - a long journey of 2 buses away so I went but no supper materialised!
He acted surprised but pleased to see me, poured me a glass of wine asked if I wanted some bread - I did. The family were packing to go away to various camps. I left as soon as I thought sensible. DS was yawning.

The Scots expression "ye'll have had your tea" springs to mind.

I'm viewing yet another a house this morning
It's quite nearby and a friend is coming with me. It looks an odd layout on the brochure. You seem to enter through the kitchen but there is grass and a nice looking garden. So many places have gravel or concrete.

I'm invited to a friend's party to celebrate her late DH this afternoon. This time it really is happening. I know because I have lent her glasses, cutlery and chairs!

Gingster that made me laugh. I would have been a bit worried to be followed like that.
Lovely photo Ginny
Happy holidays to all who are away.
Hoping everyone has a nice weekend.

Good morning from a cool breezy Co Armagh.
Watered and fed the tomatoes and peppers and cucumbers in the greenhouse , the tomatoes are slowly ripening , so tasty off the plant
I have to cut my nails today , Someone else has said how quickly theirs are growing , ( sorry can’t go. back to check )
I have really bad nails , they break and split , taking vit D3 really helps , but I’ve run out and it looks like the natural stuff from the sun is much better !
We have a big tank in the top yard for rainwater but it is getting low , watering is cut down to new plants and favourite pots , the hydrangea got a drink last night , hope it’s not too late !!
Thoughts and prayers for the poorly

Good morning Micheal and all GN's from a slightly cooler and still greyish sky in North Yorkshire - for which I am grateful!

Still rather struggling and taking ages to get up and going, and waking up in the middle of the night so the pattern of the day seems to be stuck in later mode for now. Yesterday started off in similar fashion, which did not please me.

However the grey sky continued and so I risked going out later in the morning, and hoped to get back before the sun really got going. So I was pleased with my efforts, as I had a big bag of books promised to the charity shop a while back, but the weather had been so hot I hadnt been up to doing anything but basics. So got the yellow peril out, shopping bags, book bag etc and set off. Arriving at the shop I knew I couldnt lug it in and had to ask someone going in to speak to the staff and ask them to come to me. A lady came out and seemed very pleased with it all and so she humped the bag into the shop and emptied it and brought the bag back to me.

I then went on to do a small amount of shopping and then home, with the bag ready to attempt more of a sort out later.
Somewhat weary but glad to have done something. I was galvanised into sorting out my car tax, checking MOT , and my tv license. Somewhat shattered but it definitely lifts the spirits mentally to accomplish anything however little. Then I sat with the local paper and had a rest. There are various things going on, and a couple of gardens I would love to visit, but at the moment, it has to be governed by the weather and what I can manage to do. If it stays cool , and the painkillers give me some relief, I shall go out for the Yorkshire post and a short look round the market, but at the moment cant manage it.

GrandMattie , I am amazed at how you manage to carry on in this weather. Karmalady you too seem to carry on doing so much. As they say "I will have a little of whatever you are taking!!"Well I need to move about a bit and see what I can manage to do. Will come back to read all the other posts later. Wishing you all a cooler day, that will let you accomplish your plans.

Good morning from a cooler Stockport, it is also cloudy but I expect that will soon break up.

I went out last night with my friend for a meal at an Italian restaurant new to me.
It was good and I shall go again, I had one course of chicken in a mushroom sauce and my tum behaved itself.

It is Carnival day here today, only a few minutes away from my house.
I may venture down on my scooter but will be limited to the paths as I feel unsafe on uneven grass.

I am fairly sad today as my GD and her BF get the keys to their new home on Monday, she has lived with me for seven and a half years but we have always been very close as we looked after her from three months old and almost every weekend when her parents marriage broke down before she was even two.
She has had a tough ride and I am so proud of her.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all. We had a very brief shower yesterday early evening. The next town had a full on thunderstorm. We desperately need a prolonged soaking.

We met up with the other GPs and went for a lovely Indian just after the rain stopped. They are very good company.

Not much planned today. We will be watching g England v Argentina play this evening … at rugby this time. I read that the last time they played some English players were subjected to particularly vile racism. The English captain said if it reoccurs this year they may walk off. I expect a dirty match.

The pictures of your family are lovely Bellasnana. Sounds like you are all having a wonderful time.

Another very warm day beckons.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

The usual Saturday morning is in store, bulletin and Website to do.
I have not been at church all week, I am trying to be sensible.

Yesterday, I tried to get out early, to go to M&S foodhall, before it got busy. By half past nine, it was heaving. Many people were buying nibbles etc., obviously planning to entertain. Baubles 😉

Some of you may remember my disastrous hair cut, which left me looking like a convict. That was eight weeks ago and I haven't been brave enough to find a new hairdresser after thirty plus years. I was quite depressed about it.
I popped into Superdrug and noticed they had a beauty salon and on a whim, asked if they did walk ins.
There had been a cancellation, but they could only do a dry cut. That was good enough for me.
The hairdresser was so kind, when I explained what had happened. She was shocked at how badly my hair had been cut. It will take a few cuts to remedy the mess, but I was delighted.

On leaving the shop, I heard my name being called.
What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be resting.?
It was the senior receptionist from the surgery, accompanied by her family, including her son, whom I had taught.
He had been a difficult pupil, but I had a soft spot for him.
His father and wife insisted I have my photo taken with my former pupil. They were also accompanied by their grandsons, the children of another son, whom I also taught.

The receptionist continued to reprimand me for not taking care of myself, when I was so unwell, I explained, that I must seize every moment I can. Life is far too limited for me and I must make the best of every moment .
I came home on a high, but began to feel unwell. Suddenly, I had an attack of vertigo and my antibiotics are making me so nauseous.
I slept all afternoon. 😪

In the evening, I like to wander round the garden, when it is cooler.
DH's golfing partner's wife called me over, she was in a terrible state. Her DH's bone narrow transplant has failed and she is broken, as are we all. She does not cope with stress at the best of times. It was such a difficult conversation. 😪

GM, we experienced difficulty, trying to pay for our roof work the other day. We had to jump through hoops to pay the roofer. However, I was just glad, that the bank was so vigilant, especially as DH messed up. No surprise there. 😉

DH has suggested takeaway tonight. I heartily agreed, for neither of us have an appetite and I am struggling, especially as my claw like left hand is refusing to co-operate!

Have a pleasant Saturday. Best wishes to all my fellow mountaineers. ♥️

hollysteers Sat 18-Jul-26 08:27:46

Good morning from a dull northwest coast.
I did a lot of walking yesterday as I felt I needed the exercise.
Firstly at my favourite park here followed by coffee and then to a lunchtime concert in a church at the other end of town not often frequented by me. Parking was tricky so that entailed another walk.

The performer spoke so quietly I couldn’t hear his intros and I’m not deaf, the programme was unexciting and a very poor turnout as opposed to the usual lunchtime recitals I go to at another church in the centre. Poor publicity.

I’m unfamiliar with the roads around that church and couldn’t find my car! In fact I had walked past it. It wasn’t fun walking up and down roads in the heat.
In the evening I made myself go for another walk after my meal of ham salad as I need to keep moving. Another quiet day ahead..

Lovely photos today and thoughts to all🌺

Hydrangeas in my garden

GrannyIvy Sat 18-Jul-26 08:19:54

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is cloudy 15 degrees rising to 22 later. The last two days have been a sunny warm 26 degrees and I have rather got used to these lovely warm days. It is quite a mission though keeping my garden looking good and well watered with a hosepipe ban.

Today is dgd2’s annual dance show apparently I have 50 dance routines to watch, five of which she will dance in, DH has volunteered to stay at home and look after dgs2😂. There are two shows and I will go to the evening one and keep busy feeding family between shows.

Lovely pics ginny and also Bella. It’s always lovely seeing the pics that are posted. Wishing everyone a happy healthy enjoyable weekend 🌷

Good morning from a cooler Black Country, where if it follows the pattern of this week, it will start hotting up as the day progresses.

Hairdressers yesterday was my only outing.

MrJ made a seafood rice last night, were we sat outside till well after 9pm.

No real plans today, some housework before it warms up.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 18-Jul-26 08:07:02

That mistaken identity made me laugh Gingster! Bet the man was mortified!

Lovely photos Bellasnana sounds a splendid holiday!

Workman have just arrived over the road here from Trafford Council. This town centre is being ‘upgraded’ apparently at least we have something to show for our council taxes that went up by an eye watering 7.4% this year!

While I was away on holiday, new benches have replaced the tatty old ones (although those did have more character) and now 3 huge planters arr being installed in between them. Be nice to have a bit more colour soon once they’re planted up and I get a bird’s eye view!

Jaxjacky Sat 18-Jul-26 08:05:47

Morning from a sunny S Hants, slightly cooler today.
What smashing pictures bellas a great holiday. Your day out sounds delightful too Gingster apart from your odd shadow!
MrJ is in Belfast visiting family, he sent this picture from near Larne last night.
No plans today other than my son calling in much later to help watering.
Have a pleasant day

Good Morning from an overcast N.Lincolnshire.

I don’t normally contribute to this thread but do drop in and enjoy reading up on you all.

This is the calm before the storm as we drive to Cheshire later this morning to help our daughter, SIL and grandchildren (11 & 5) who started the move into their new home yesterday.

They are totally disorganised, I’m not sure they even have a tool kit!

The house is on 4 floors so I am dreading all those stairs!

They have been living in a nearby air b and b for 3 months but hope we can get everything straight for us all to sleep in the new home tonight.

Funny that all our 3 AC were busy when we moved last year🤔

Liberty Sat 18-Jul-26 07:57:59

Good morning from a cool and cloudy Suffolk where the forecast for the week is temperatures around 20 degrees and no rain, which we desperately need.

A quiet day here apart from our weekly Waitrose delivery and a trip to the nearest town for a birthday card for DGD3 who is 16 on Thursday. She has been counting down the days as she has been promised a job after her birthday in the same restaurant where her big sister works during her holidays from university.

She has already mentally spent her earnings!

Hope all enjoy however your day passes. Now for my second cuppa and to read your posts.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 18-Jul-26 07:57:53

Morning all from an apparently cooler West Oxfordshire.

Granddaughter is already up so I will leap in the shower shortly.

We are off to Oxford later. Lunch and then the theatre.

She finished in Year 5 yesterday and will be in Year 6 in September. Time flies!

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright with light grey clouds
Hoping the fete goes well today gMattie, you’ve worked so hard for it
Lovely picture of you both ginny and wow - the cake!!!
Just housework and gardening for me this weekend, oh and a trip to Tesco, mustn’t forget that!
Oh Gingster so funny!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gagagran Sat 18-Jul-26 07:49:00

Good Morning everyone from a cooler, central south coast. The forecast says max. temperature 24 degrees today which will be just the job.

DH has his coffee and cake ride with his cycle club this morning and I shall attempt some chores now it is not so hot.
I even had the summer weight duvet on my bed last night for the first time in ages and slept better for it.

Has anyone else noticed that their finger nails have grown more quickly with all the sunshine we have had? Both DH and I have noticed that and think it is the sunshine causing it.

Hope the day is a good one for all those with plans, a restful one for the weary or unwell and a happy one for us all.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 18-Jul-26 07:49:00

Oops lovely photos ginny that cake looks scrummy

Yesterday was a mix of emotions, I am so proud of our 11yr old, but oh so sad that the era of him being in the little primary school next door but one. It’s time for him to move onwards and upwards 😿👍

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. After a busy day yesterday a bit quieter today. Plumber coming at some point to sort out taps and I have a small amount of shopping to do.
Lovely anniversary photos Ginny
Best wishes

Redcar Sat 18-Jul-26 07:37:51

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny with a cool northerly breeze, a slightly cooler day is forecast. Bingo yesterday lunchtime was fun, even though I didn’t win anything. I was fairly busy in the afternoon, clearing out a small chest of drawers holding lots of shopping bags! The chest of drawers is in the garage awaiting disposal and there are a lot of paper and plastic bags in their respective recycling sacks.

No plans for today, DD2 and family are off to Italy for a week, not sure if I’ll see DD1 as they’re usually very busy at weekends. The 11 year old had an enjoyable but emotional last day at junior school.

grandmattie another busy day for you today, I hope you have some help this afternoon at the fete, hopefully you can have a rest tomorrow?

bellasnana a busy day yesterday, but it sounds such fun. I’m sure the pool was very welcome at the end. Have a good day today whatever you plan to do.

What an amazing cake ginny, I’m pleased you had a lovely celebration.

ash I hope Perry puts in an appearance soon!

Safe and delay free journeys to everyone on the move today and tomorrow.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gingster 😂

Gingster Sat 18-Jul-26 07:20:32

Good morning all.
What a lovely day we had yesterday. A coach journey to a huge garden centre where I could have stayed all day. So many lovely things.
As I was heading towards to tills and exit which was a long walk, a man fell into step behind me, didn’t speak just followed each way I went . As I stopped to look at things, he stopped too.
Arrived at the tills and there he was but with nothing to buy.,
I left the building to look for my friend and he called out to me ‘Trish, over here’. As I looked round. He said ‘where are you going’. ?
I said ‘I’m not Trish’.
The look of shock on his face as he said ‘Oh bluddy hell’. 😂🤣.

I later saw his wife ‘Trish’ . I’m nothing like her.

Back on the coach and caught the boat for our trip along the River Lee. Fish and chips were served as we meandered along.
Perfect weather and idyllic scenery. We went through locks and we’re headed towards London through nature reserves with lots of wildlife. Good company, with a very knowledgable lady telling us the history of the canal. A really lovely day.

Today I have two brothers, one sister in law, two nephews and one neice in law from Bratislava arriving for lunch. DS1 , DIL and Dd will pop in later to say ‘hello’.

Lovely pics Bellasnanna.sweet little boys.
Don’t work too hard GM , try to delegate .

Must get on. Take care 🌺
