I’m off to bed too. Goodnight Allira, Goodnight GNHQ. Goodnight all.

Aveline Sat 13-Jun-26 05:34:03

Good morning Allira. I'm awake far too early. So annoying. Oh well. I'm off to make some good coffee and give the cat his treats.

Are you referring to lines 59 and 60?

The few posters who seem to dislike this thread should think about how, if they were banned from the site how pleased they would be if their GN friends missed them and hoped they would be reinstated.

Surely, if they dislike the thread, they can get off it?

Or do you mean that they disapprove of the movement to get Allira (Hi! smile) reinstated?

You suggest the nay-sayers think about how they'd feel if they were banned - I think that occurred to a few of us Oreo - we didn't recognise the Allira we knew in the explanation from GNHQ which made some of us a tad wary about posting in the future. I was rather surprised that HQ did in fact engage with the 'movement' and think it's to their credit that they did as they could so easily have simply made a standard 'we-do-not-discuss...' etc response.

I've recently been over on one of the Bereavement threads and read comments and observations that are intensely moving. There were some familiar names, and for a brief moment we had a glimpse into their 'real lives' and it made me realise that we just don't know what emotional burdens posters might be carrying. It might be an exaggeration to say that GN could be a life-line to some, but it certainly felt like that for me in the weeks after my OH died last year. I didn't post for a while, simply reading was a distraction, but knowing that I could 're-join' the community eventually was comforting. GN became a life-line once my hovering family had returned to their lives on another continent and friends stopped circling me; posting was a way of picking up the threads of a new-normal life. I doubt I'm unique on GN in that way.

I don't think I've broken any posting guideline rules, but Allira's banning has left me feeling that I might be treading on thin ice, I don't have the confidence I once had.

I do very much agree with you Dickens. Gransnet is a sort of community on line which one can access at any time of the day or night. I am certain it brings comfort, friendship, and also a bit of a challenge to so many of our generation. It is a shame that the Moderators cannot be more specific in their rules as to what is and what is not acceptable. Even perhaps giving examples. The actual rules are vague and nuances often blurring. Perhaps even unknown to our age group. I was brought up to express my opinion good or bad but nowadays there are so many vagueries, a conversation can become a minefield. To keep the 'status quo' on the site, perhaps it would be a very good idea for the Moderators to update and bring in line what is and what is not acceptable in black and white.

Good morning Allira I hope you have a good day I know that is no compensation from being here having a chat and bit of fun, but it the best we can do at the present

Good posts Spindrift coastal and*BlueBellle*.

Good morning Allira. Hope you’re keeping your spirits up (I don’t mean whisky at this time of day).
Everyone here is doing their best for you. Such an unjust situation. Hope the moderators see sense soon, you are missed.

Just heard from Allira. It seems that the mods are going on inaccurate and erroneous information. Please review?

AGAA4 Sat 13-Jun-26 12:00:46

In that case Allira should be back soon with a full apology.

Mollygo Sat 13-Jun-26 12:07:58

Aveline,. I’d love Allira to be back, so that’s good news.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 13-Jun-26 12:21:40

Another here hoping the mods review Allira’s ban favourably very soon and allow her back.

The icing on the cake of course would be to thoroughly review the ban meted out to GermanShepherdsMum at the same time. I truly feel that was a serious miscarriage of justice - over a silly spat about bluddy curling tongs for gawd’s sake.

Aveline Sat 13-Jun-26 12:30:32

Have just received a reply. No dice. They are satisfied with their review but says Allira is welcome to contact them if she wants to.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 13-Jun-26 12:41:10

Over to you then Allira? 🤞

Then it's one word against another's surely.
The trouble is, there has been inaccurate and erroneous information even on this thread Part 1 and 2. Trying to correct these errors just attracts unpleasant criticism, so how can Allira, or any of us, get through to GNHQ with the truth? And I don't just mean the truth as we see it, but the real truth?

Of course, GN can decide for themselves who they want as a member, and who they don't, but presumably this can only apply once they have given Allira the opportunity to properly see all the complaints made against her?

Aldom Sat 13-Jun-26 12:53:52

I hope Allira will take up the opportunity to contact GNHQ.
It would be so good to see her back on GN. smile

That sounds about right, inaccurate and erroneous info! It’s what we thought isn’t it?

I think it's more likely that GSM's banning was related to the Angela Rayner thread, which ended up in the papers. If you can't remember it, you can Google "Gransnet Angela Rayner"
Allira's situation is completely different from GSM's and I agree with the requests to have her reinstated.

Charleygirl5 Sat 13-Jun-26 13:47:06

I doubt there will be any discussion at GNHQ as it is the weekend, but what's two days to us? We will keep going and hope they will change their minds and reinstate Allira. I also miss GSM a lot, very informative.

Sunny here with a nippy wind. I live near Heathrow, not on the flight path and it feels like the middle of the country.

Come back Allira, a warm welcome awaits.
