Good morning all, especially Allira.

JamesandJon33 Mon 08-Jun-26 11:40:31

Is she back then?

BlueBelle Mon 08-Jun-26 11:47:12

No just keeping her name alive JanesandJon

LauraNorderr Mon 08-Jun-26 11:59:21

Good morning Allira, good morning all. Scraping in to morning by the skin of my teeth.
Love your post of yesterday Doodledog regarding the right to be offended etc. I’m not a fan of Ann Widdecombe either but agree with her take on offence.
We have nurses coming in daily to dress Orlins wounds and give the daily intravenous antibiotic. The drip is hung from a picture hook, the drawers are full of bandages and the chest top full of paperwork. The bedroom would give the set on Emegency Ward 10 a run for its money.
The sun is just breaking through the clouds and the gardens are looking beautiful after rain during the night.

BlueBelle, i wonder how ,any of us are managing eye stuff 🌞. In this case, i too am Spartacus

My glasses frame broke yesterday, I have AMD and look after my eyes. Just walked to my opticians (in the rain) only to find a sign on the door that they have closed permanently and sent my records to an opticians in the next village.

Too far to walk, so I will have to get DH to take me, as the drops used for the eye tests mean I cannot drive afterwards 😡😡😡

Iam64 Mon 08-Jun-26 13:12:35

I hope you can get the glasses fixed gg13. My mum was registered partially sighted at about 80, she had Dry Macular Degeneration. My optician identified early stages in my eyes several years ago. He stressed good sunglasses that cover the sides. I have dry eyes so take good care of.

JamesandJon33 Mon 08-Jun-26 13:22:14

Me too. Just been referred to the eye clinic.

BlueBelle Mon 08-Jun-26 13:51:20

I ve always had poor sight from a child (-12 and astigmatism) wore contacts until four years ago when I had my cataracts done (one eye anaesthetic didn’t work, horrendous, other eye fine) I have had torn retinas a few times, a hole in my left macular and needed a polish a year ago but today told everything as good as it gets and doing fine.
Back to business …
Any news on Allira ?

LauraNorderr Mon 08-Jun-26 14:24:09

Gosh GG that was an inconvenience, they could have and should have sent you a text or a letter to let you know in advance.

LauraNorderr Mon 08-Jun-26 14:25:33

IMO eyes are the most important of the senses. Good advice on here about looking after them.

LauraNorderr Mon 08-Jun-26 14:30:54

How are you doing Allira? We are still fighting your corner and rightly so.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Jun-26 14:32:35

DH has come to the rescue of my glasses frame, good old gorilla glue

Will contact the other opticians and get my records changed to an optician of my choosing.

My last appointment with them was only several days before they closed up for good. I am really cross that they couldn’t bother to say anything despite our entire family (my parents, DH and I, our AC and GC) being regular patients since it opened over 35 years ago 😡😡😡

She’s very tired with the amount of hospital appointments she has. 😥

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 08-Jun-26 17:01:20

That really is very poor (and cavalier) customer service GG13

Thoughts are still with you Allira.

AGAA4 Mon 08-Jun-26 17:04:42

Sorry to hear that petra. Get well soon Allira.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Jun-26 17:07:25

I am starting to feel rather uncomfortable on GN.

I will continue for Allira

MartavTaurus Mon 08-Jun-26 17:21:06

I'm reluctant to call myself a supporter of Allira now, because even that gets misconstrued.
It's not really to do with that though.
Bottom line is, we are annoyed about the injustice, I think, and worried it could be any of us.
I've stood up for other posters before, I won't give up on Allira.

Not wishing to sound crass or hysterical, but it seems to me like Allira is suffering a kind of bereavement from GN. She has been sad, angry, sometimes more upbeat, at others totally confused all in equal measure. And people talk about being kind to everyone!?
I hope she will be OK.

Please don’t feel uncomfortable flowers

Lots of us here still behind Allira, even if some (either by accident or design) don’t approve of our “tactics”.

Sometimes, one has to try many different ways to get justice.

For some, sites like this are literally a lifeline, a comfort, a support, others, who might just pop in and out and use many different social media sites, may not be so invested and may not understand.

LauraNorderr Mon 08-Jun-26 17:36:42

Oh dear. I hope Allira is okay and that her problems are not exacerbated by this awful experience.

Oreo Mon 08-Jun-26 17:36:45

Oh yes MartavTaurus the be kind brigade who often don’t have a kind bone in their body🤬
Get well soon Allira💐

Btw, does anyone know of a way to find out when one first registered here?

I know I’m not a long timer but neither a newbie either! Just wondered when I joined.
