Settling down in front of the tv now with a cup of coffee and a chunk of dark chocolate.
Have a nice evening Allira, I’ll be back tomorrow and every day until you are back.
Good night all.

As Ricky Gervais said, ‘Just because you are offended, it doesn’t mean you are right’.

Nobody has the right to not be offended. We have the right to reply to a post that offends us, and a right to explain why we found it offensive, but the right to offend is part of our culture. There are those who find women disagreeing with them offensive. Those who believe that only one religion has all the answers, and are offended by anyone who says otherwise. Many people find lots of things offensive, but that doesn’t mean they have a right to silence the rest of us.

It’s not often I agree with Ann Widdicombe, but I absolutely do on this matter - she said ‘ Nobody has the right to live their lives being protected from offense, or from insult, or from hurt feelings. It is an occupational hazard of living in society

What sort of world would it be if nobody could say anything that might offend anyone else?

The point of a discussion board is that we discuss - make our case and defend it if someone disagrees. If they are offended we explain further, and if there is no middle ground we can agree to disagree.

Me too.
Provided I've not been sent to the Tower of London by then.
Actually, there are quite a few fortified citadels here in western France, (though they haven't got a King), to lock us up in. Food is probably nicer. And 🍷.
I've discovered a really nice wine, Allira, called Pinneau, not Pinot. You'd like it. 🍷
I've demolished quite a bit today; well it is Sunday.
Sorry back to the thread.

Pineau des Charente is fortified wine drunk as an aperitif
its dense and chewy, heady and works like a whole tin of prunes.
wonderful stuff

ViceVersa Sun 07-Jun-26 20:58:48

Well said, Doodledog!

MartavTaurus Sun 07-Jun-26 21:03:54

Yes, apologies.
A bit sozzled earlier, it's Pineau with one n not two. An aperitif.
I'll watch out for the prune effect! Thanks!

Aw! I think that’s a very good reason to feel shattered, I don’t envy your 6:00am start, so pleased to be retired. How much longer do you have?

BlueBelle I have reported your post, and added my agreement to it 👍🏻

Hopefully the mods will see (sense) it

Well done!

Cossy Sun 07-Jun-26 21:18:46

I wonder what would happen if we ALL reported each other, all day every day?

Would we all disappear or be banned or would it cause justifiable chaos?

Iam64 Mon 08-Jun-26 08:25:31

Good morning everyone, especially Allira.
How long till you retire Oreo? I highly recommend retirement though of course I became emergency grannie as soon as I was at home for the 7.30 am call ……. I’ve just tucked seven year old X up on the sofa. He was sick yesterday morning and school want 48 hours between the vomit and returning to school.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 08-Jun-26 08:29:59

Hi BlueBelle. And hi Allira. I gave up on the “extreme” version of today’s word puzzle. It truly flummoxed me. But I bet you did it!

Bellanonna Mon 08-Jun-26 11:37:58

Oh and as FGT says - hi everyone. P

Bellanonna Mon 08-Jun-26 11:38:32
