Whether they are banned or simply stop contributing it seems this happens reasonably often. It is a shame ,particularly when someone who has been a ‘regular’ is banned and most of us have no idea what caused it. A recent person to be banned never, as far as I am aware, transgressed . Sometimes I think someone with opposing views complains and causes a banning quite unnecessarily and we are the poorer for it. It would be very boring indeed if we all held the same views on everything.

I just don't think Justine will be involved in the specifics of moderating decisions, sorry to be a wet blanket.

I'm continuing to go down the "report the post" route, to just add to sheer accumulation of numbers reporting.

I don't share the mods hostility thing but this one has really puzzled me.

I think the apparently high handed injustice has probably struck most of us.
At out (great) age we should be beyond worrying about telling tales, the wrath of “Miss” or unexplained arbitrary actions (is that a tautology?)
This whole business of barring bona fide members for spurious infractions of “the spirit of GRANSnet” which is subjective at best, is a farce.
I am not talking about trolls, spam posts, vicious racist/sexist/ obscene posts by those we instantly recognise as bogus.
Repeated deletions can lead to barring, but repeated deletions can also be contrived by malicious reporting. QED
I think we need to keep going as a united front and hope that somebody somewhere at HQ will exercise a smidgeon of common sense - and afford us and Allira the courtesy of a reasoned reply.

MawsRosie Fri 29-May-26 10:59:27

I have got to wondering if Allira said something in her inbox[or outbox or whatever it is called].

But I had a read through of the guidelines, and nothing was mentioned about inboxes that I could see.

And wouldnt she have been told about that, if that had been the case?

Surely she has been told the reason[s] for the ban?

We are assured that PMs are just that -private - but I have more than once wondered in the past whether they are read by HQ.

fancythat Fri 29-May-26 11:07:38

Interesting. I had assumed that private meant private from the general posters.
I didnt know that private, meant private from HQ too.

Not that this is necessarily the issue going on here.

MawsRosie Fri 29-May-26 11:29:16

Well the question is, how private is private? Can what is meant to be confidential be used against us?
Obviously if you get a dodgy PM you can report it and delete, but can or should HQ be able to read correspondence between members without their knowledge or permission

BlueBelle Fri 29-May-26 11:32:22

Let’s not get off the path

Reinstate Allira HQ or let us know why not ?

Iam64 Fri 29-May-26 11:35:23

Exactly so maw, it seems most of us are aware of previous injustices which eventually were recognised as such and were put right

The outbreak of consensus where Allira is recognised as a popular poster, sense of humour, not controversial or a provocative poster makes no sense with her being banned. The absence of any meaningful responses from the mods or whoever made this unfair unjust decision is if nothing else, dismissive and rude towards the people who make Gransnet function

MawsRosie Fri 29-May-26 11:36:14

Let’s not get off the path

Reinstate Allira HQ or let us know why not ?

And give her a chance to defend herself against whatever accusations have been made.

I’ve reported my message in order to draw attention to what posters see as injustice

Rosie51 Fri 29-May-26 11:45:43

Iam64

I’ve reported my message in order to draw attention to what posters see as injustice

Oh good Iam64 I was about to ask if you'd mind me reporting it for the very same reason.

This lack of any transparency and response, apart from PhilipGransnet's post on page 1, does indicate a level of total indifference to our concerns. That response And unless a poster is an obvious spammer or a troll they are afforded many opportunities to adhere to our guidelines before we would ban. wouldn't seem to have been applied here.

Aveline Fri 29-May-26 11:56:20

I've reported it too

Wyllow3 Fri 29-May-26 12:15:05

PM's are private.

I block them if unwanted.

Rosie51 Fri 29-May-26 12:34:40

Are you sure the moderators can't read them, as that's what was suggested?

Spinnaker Fri 29-May-26 12:35:11

PM's are private.

I block them if unwanted.

With respect, how do you know they are private - unless of course you're a moderator ?

fancythat Fri 29-May-26 12:37:39

I cant find anywhere where it says they are private from HQ.

I agree we may be going off-piste here.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 29-May-26 12:45:42

Gransnet HQ and mumsnet can read our PM’s according to Google…

SpinDriftCoastal Fri 29-May-26 13:00:19

Why don't you just read their Privacy Policy?

www.gransnet.com/info/privacy-policy?utm_source=copilot.com#Your_data_-_what_we_store_and_why

MissAdventure Fri 29-May-26 13:04:18

I'm sure that was explained here, at some point in te dim and distant past.
Basically while they can see inboxes, they don't use that power, because well, why would they?

Maremia Fri 29-May-26 13:05:28

No probs, as we are all just having a private chat or catch up.

Maremia Fri 29-May-26 13:06:29

Meanwhile, please be careful if 'reporting' other GNs posts, just in case. 😟

MissAdventure Fri 29-May-26 13:10:53

I'm out of this thread, before it gets totally bogged under, as it then loses its purpose to me, which is to get someone reinstated.
Best wishes to alllira if she's watching.
My support for her is always there.

Petra please say hello to her from me.

In a word, NO. 😥

Why don't you just read their Privacy Policy?

www.gransnet.com/info/privacy-policy?utm_source=copilot.com#Your_data_-_what_we_store_and_why

It doesnt answer the question.
As far as I can see.

GG13 appears to have answered it.

petra Fri 29-May-26 13:16:30

merlotgran

The directive for mods is clearly to sit on their hands until we run out of steam.🤔

Nail on the head 😡
Put granny in the corner, there’s a good girl.
