What irritates you about other Gransnetters?

Perhaps I should duck before I even start!

I think there are two things which make me wish people didn't do them.

1 When someone asks for really simple advice and people don't read what others have said before saying exactly the same. Yes, I understand on long threads that one cannot read it all and there are posters who say they haven't read it all and hope they are not repeating, they are not irritating.
2 People who post to say they don't know anything about the subject, why post at all then? No, I don't mean those who just want to show sympathy or that they care, of course that is appreciated. It feels like they just have to comment for the sake of commenting.

Perhaps I'm not in a very tolerant mood today. I admit I'm feeling emotional so maybe that is why. Or maybe I'm just plain grumpy!

I get irritated by the same old set of people, saying the same old thing, you can predict their point of view before you've read a line of their post and I agree with those who have said they get irritated by people who turn everything into an argument and the ones who ignore your post and post something below and then everyone comments on what they posted and ignores yours and the people who post great long sentences like this one without paragraphs and then the pedants who mind about paragraphs....

And the ones without a sense of humour. But usually I find some really interesting threads and I feel as though I know those usual posters though I sit at the back of the room and don't often comment. Thank goodness for GN!

I get a little peeved when posters do not come back to either acknowledge advice/opinions, or to answer queries that may help give more specific/helpful advice. I only like to post if I feel I have something to offer but recently have posted just in sympathy because having been in the receiving end, support can be as encouraging as sound advice.

Ditch it!!!! Remember, I'm only offering MY opinion.grin

Gransnetters who never post annoy me. Why did they join?
Was it just for the competitions?

lemongrove Tue 03-Apr-18 22:13:44

Greenfinch haha
(I never win anything)

Blinko Tue 03-Apr-18 22:15:41

People who annoy me are those who pick arguments with other posters, or take offence where none was intended. There are one or two culprits. How very wearing!

lemongrove Tue 03-Apr-18 22:19:04

I dislike snobbish comments dished out by posters ( bad mannered) and also the ‘know all’ posts, and the sense of humour bypass posters who only see in black and white.

merlotgran Tue 03-Apr-18 22:24:44

I agree about the sense of humour bypass. Nothing more annoying than having a post picked apart by someone who is going to be offended if it kills them.

Recently there was a thread title which warned it was a light hearted thread.

You shouldn't need to do that.

Greenfinch Tue 03-Apr-18 22:25:15

But do you enter lemongrove?

lemongrove Tue 03-Apr-18 22:28:05

grin Oh yes.

Marydoll Tue 03-Apr-18 22:55:12

I get upset by posters who are unkind. You can disagree without being nasty.

Agus Tue 03-Apr-18 23:08:23

I agree too re the nastiness of some replies. I just don’t understand why people do this, could it be it gives a feeling of superiority as in a similar vein to those who are not even part of a thread but can’t wait to jump in and correct another adults errors of spelling or Grammar?

maddyone Tue 03-Apr-18 23:18:21

I dislike unkind posts, arrogant posts, especially where the poster actually informs you that she/he is well informed and actually knows more about whatever is being discussed than you do. How on earth could anyone know that they are better informed about something than you are? There are only a few that do this, but I dislike it intensely.
I dislike the threads that become derailed and turned into Brexit threads.
I feel that the great majority of posters do their best to be kind, supportive, and stick to the subject in hand. I like that.

If they never post, how do you know they joined lemongrove ?
Or are they like Schrödinger’s cat? (now there’s a novel username). hmm

Synonymous Tue 03-Apr-18 23:46:09

Tiptoes in and whispers to Maw "wasn't that Greenfinch?" and tiptoes back out and shuts the door very quietly. grin

Synonymous Tue 03-Apr-18 23:49:00

I am very irritated by me when I seem to continually shut the flipping thread down - how do I keep managing that then? confused hmm

MawBroon Tue 03-Apr-18 23:59:31

Oops! blush
I hate Gransnetters who keep getting people’s names wrong!

MissAdventure Tue 03-Apr-18 23:59:45

>tries desperately not to reply<

I dislike it when posters complain about being bullied or shouted down when a couple of people disagree with them and point out the incongruity in their statements.
Also when people claim to be offended and hurt by others dusgreeing with them, especially when they have asked for opinions. Why ask for opinions if you only want to hear your own viewpoint?
When disagreeing with someone’s view is labelled “unkind”. I am not talking about personal insults here- haven’t seen many of those tbh - just plain old differences of opinion are considered by some to be hurtful.

kittylester Wed 04-Apr-18 06:27:39

I don't like gransnetters (or people for that matter!!) who are 'decided'!

Greenfinch Wed 04-Apr-18 07:02:34

Maw that was me and since I changed my name to Goldfinch I have been looking out for a bird with a similar name whom I asked to be and have never seen a posting from .In fact several of the names I chose had been taken by another Gransnetter I had never heard of.This is exactly the sort of comment that annoys/upsets me.Even if not meant to be,I see it as implied criticism.Or is it humourous or just plain fact?
