What makes you go "Yuk!" ?

I've just watched an EastEnders repeat and Ben took a carton of milk from the fridge, had a swig from it then replaced it, presumably complete with a good helping of germs! Yuk, yuk. What makes your stomach turn?

I remember when my son was small, he run to us in the park to show what he´d found, he opened his palm (he was wearing mittens at the time) and showed us some frozen dog poo. My husband insisted that I throw the mittens out, I just laughed and put them in the wash. I´d have spent a fortune if I threw childrens´s clothing out everytime it came into contact with something unsavoury.

There certainly are a lot of very fussy people on this thread!

Slugs make me go yuk, but I feel a bit mean because they can't help being slugs.

Dogs licking faces or any other parts of humans - ugh.

I wash my hands when I get home from anywhere, and usually change into slippers for comfort. Unless I have encountered dog poo I don’t worry about the hygiene of shoes - never really thought about it.

When I was ill as a child my cat used to sleep on my bed, frequently under the eiderdown. The doctor was surprised when he encountered it, but he didn’t forbid it. He had he sense to know it comforted me.

My dog used to lick my feet it was so relaxing, sorry!

My friend had two visitors whose personal hygiene is not good. They both took off their socks so that the dog could lick their feet. If I’d been there I’d have had to leave. Definitely yuk.

I used to work in a home for special needs adults. Now poop never bothered me but vomit did. I was always terrified of it as a child and it's stuck with me . Weird hey ?

Not seen it for a while, but can remember refusing to buy an item after the cashier licked fingers to open a plastic bag to put it in - I don't want someone's saliva with my food...when bagging stuff, for the freezer for instance, I wet fingers under tap and open any bags I might need before starting.

People who drink beer, etc straight from the bottle. I have seen crates of beer waiting to be taken inside a pub and being weed on by a passing dog!

We have a cat and a dog, don’t think we are too unhygienic .... but increasingly those of us who take our dogs out are coming across human faeces in the park. We think that some of the footballers and walkers don’t feel like walking all the way to the loos.

It’s also pretty gross when we see nappies filled with faeces left on park benches.

Oh, and yes ...... joggers and runners in the park who spit and cough phlegm up.

Quadruple yuk! ????

I have a friend who will never eat a slice of Birthday Cake.
She says the cake has been spat on when the candles were being blown out.

MissAdventure Mon 04-Dec-17 18:59:27

She's probably right. At least as much as a sneeze worth!

Phoenix, you are so funny. Cheer me up you do!!

This reminds me of the story about the old man who sucked all the coating of his sugared almonds then gave the bag of nuts to his home help, ?

Eating a school dinner opposite a child with a runny nose. ESP. custard or rice pud.
Why do supermarkets have the meat counter covered yet not the fish? Never understood this.
I can’t abide treading in dog poo, I have to throw the shoes away.
Good post this, but far too close to my evening meal. I am amazed at how many make me feel quite ill.

A couple of years ago, whilst on holiday, we were passing a greengrocers where there was fruit and veg on display outside. I was fancying some of the really big, juicy looking strawberries, until I saw a woman pick one up, put it up to her nose, and sniff it, then put it back and walk away. That put me off forevermore from buying fruit and veg from accessible displays.

Oh, nearly forgot the time we were staying with friends, I was first down one morning, walked into the dining room where there was a patch of lino before the carpet, put my bare foot down..........straight into a poo that their dog had done! Apart from the dreadful yucky feeling, I was so mad I picked him up and chucked him outside, shouting "you dirty little ba---rd!" He was usually a nasty little sod, but he was so shocked that I got away with it!

etheltbags1 Mon 04-Dec-17 22:05:13

Everything you have all said makes me go yuk but the worst thing happend to me was a dog that jumped up and forced its tongue in my mouth before i could raise my arms to avert it. It deposited lumps of bitty stuff in my mouth could have been bisciuts but it could have been licking its bum. Owner had hysterics

WilmaKnickersfit Mon 04-Dec-17 22:26:52

I'm sorry, but I'm laughing my socks off at some of these replies! tchgrin

I'm going to start a group for the posters who feel slovenly compared to some of our members. Needless to say I think some of you take this hygiene thing too far - far too far in a couple of cases! Anyone care to join me? tchgrin

NotTooOld Mon 04-Dec-17 22:28:54

Ethel, that's awful. Did the owner have hysterics as in laughter or hysterics as in shock-horror?

michelleblane Mon 04-Dec-17 23:27:23

Daisy L Your life sounds like mine!

starlily106 Mon 04-Dec-17 23:28:57

People picking their nose and putting what they removed in their mouth. It is amazing how many men do this when sitting in their car at traffic lights.

Harrydog50 Mon 04-Dec-17 23:34:41

All of you what's is like being so perfect

lizzypopbottle Mon 04-Dec-17 23:37:55

I'll join you, Wilma! My dogs sleep on my bed and I get the occasional kiss on the end of my nose or (if I'm not quick enough to avoid it) a wet nose in the ear from my son's dog if I'm daft enough to bend over him. I read somewhere that a dog's mouth is cleaner than many human mouths and that children brought up with pets are generally considered to benefit. I'm not worried by the idea that someone may have touched something that I'm about to touch. I'd be paranoid! Mixing with germ ridden children for many years as a Key Stage 1 teacher kept my immune system in tip top condition. These days, there's an anti-bacterial wipe for every household application. These cleaning product manufacturers rely on people's fear of germs. The craziest one was the contacted hand soap dispenser. Don't touch 'the germy pump!' they warned mothers ?. Erm...excuse me...we're dispensing soap to wash our hands for goodness sake! ?

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 05-Dec-17 00:07:20

My dogs used to start off under the covers and then stagger out on to the floor when they got too hot! tchgrin

Fennel Tue 05-Dec-17 07:40:47

Wilma - I'll join your club too.
There's one thing that does make me feel 'yuk' though, and that's the sight of all that plastic waste floating in a formerly beautiful clean sea. I was once walking on a rocky coastline, and there were a few turds and used tampax in the rock pools, which used to be so clean years ago.

illtellhim Tue 05-Dec-17 08:09:08

How can you never wash your hands?

How can you never kiss, except in private?
