What makes you go "Yuk!" ?

I've just watched an EastEnders repeat and Ben took a carton of milk from the fridge, had a swig from it then replaced it, presumably complete with a good helping of germs! Yuk, yuk. What makes your stomach turn?

I don't know about dog's mouths being clean but my D was very recently hospitalized for 48 hours on intravenous ab's after being bitten by her cat while she was trying to extricate him when he got a leg caught in a piece of furniture.
The Dr said there are few things more germladen than a cats mouth.

I’m with you, Wilma. One of my dogs starts off on top of the bed then wakes me up crawling under the covers when he gets cold!

watermeadow Tue 05-Dec-17 09:08:05

I live happily with cat and dog germs. Yuk to me is soft-cooked eggs, shellfish, bleeding meat and kids’ runny noses.

Anniebach Tue 05-Dec-17 09:18:38

May I join you Wilma? Having three sisters who must have been born clutching detol spray I stitched a sampler which they thought should not be framed and hung in the hall

A tidy house is a sign of a wasted life .

A dog's saliva can contain up to twenty strains of bacteria, two of them are pneumonia and one is e coli. There is also a rare b canis which can cause fever and weightloss in humans and leads to liver and spleen problems. I won't be kissing and cuddling a dog any time soon.

Watching adverts for toilet cleaning products (specially those horrible green gremlins) which are always shown at meal times.

To those of you who abhor snot eaters; where do you think snot goes when it doesn't run out of your nose?

humptydumpty Tue 05-Dec-17 13:03:24

watermeadow I'm with you about eggs - my mother used to cook us boiled eggs for breakfast and I hated slimy, uncooked whites - made me feel like gagging!

humptydumpty Tue 05-Dec-17 13:05:38

I think we were given a supplement called 'radium malt' when I was young and I absolutely loathed it! When I mentioned it to my mother decades later, she said "you should have said, I wouldn't have given it to you"!

Jalima1108 Tue 05-Dec-17 14:02:35

radium malt sounds positively dangerous!

Was it cod liver oil and malt?

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 05-Dec-17 15:29:45

annsixty human and animal bites can be very serious. We all know about lockjaw, but sepsis is a real risk and can be life threatening. Any serious human or animal bite should be checked out quickly. Hope your D is on the mend. flowers

humptydumpty Tue 05-Dec-17 16:17:12

Jalima amazingly it was called radium malt!

Extract from a blog I found when checking the name:

In hospital back in early 1950s to get my tonsils removed we got a daily dose of Castor Oil followed by one of Radium Malt. Yeeuch, a sort of super-charged Marmite. There was a fascination with all things atomic then, Remember the x-ray machines for checking how your shoes fitted? A wonder that there isn't a whole generatio that glows in the dark. At least we were luckier than the Erics; they even got it in the chocolate

Aslemma Tue 05-Dec-17 16:30:56

What a lot of precious little flowers there are on here. In my 81 years on this mucky planet I reckon I've been subjected to most of these. Strangely enough I'm still alive and kicking.?

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 05-Dec-17 16:37:33

Janet Street-Porter has talked on Loose Women about the shoe fitting machine. It was called a Pedoscope. I tried to upload a photo of one, but it won't upload for some reason. Very weird!

stevej4491 Tue 05-Dec-17 16:42:45

must have a cast -iron stomach.Nothing makes me retch, even clearing cats n dog mess or anyone elses vomit .Always been the same.

Day6 Tue 05-Dec-17 16:48:33

I have a things about plugholes and sinks, those clogged with food or hairs and rarely cleaned. Yuk. Also, mucky dishcloths. <shudder>

Day6 Tue 05-Dec-17 16:52:59

Good post this, but far too close to my evening meal. I am amazed at how many make me feel quite ill.

Snap! I feel quite queasy reading this! shock

Fennel Tue 05-Dec-17 16:57:50

"a supplement called 'radium malt' "
I remember it as Radio Malt - I loved it.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Malt
But what it had to do with radio I don't know.

pollyperkins Tue 05-Dec-17 17:19:32

Can I join your club please Wilma?! Too many extremely neurotic people on here. Im not keen on being licked by dogs or cleaning plug holes (but I just get on with it) but many of the comments in here just amaze me!

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 05-Dec-17 17:21:16

The Pedoscope was also called the Shoe Fitting Fluoroscope. (Trying again with a photo from my laptop this time)

pollyperkins Tue 05-Dec-17 17:21:40

I hope none of the super hygienic people ever come to my house or they'd be horrified! However I reckon it's. clean and hygienic enough and we are still alive and well!

pollyperkins Tue 05-Dec-17 17:23:36

I used to love looking at my feet in the pedoscope and wriggling my toes. You could see all the nails in the shoe too.

Witzend Tue 05-Dec-17 18:02:36

I've never minded dogs licking my face, but then I'm a very doggy person.
One thing that really makes me heave is uncooked egg white - I can never have a fried egg anywhere but at home, since most people just don't know how to cook them properly - i.e the way I do it!

HootyMcOwlface Tue 05-Dec-17 19:25:07

Phoenix made me howl with laughter at that false teeth story (on page 1 I think!) So funny, thanks for that! grin

The thing that makes me heave is vomit or the smell of it! Yuk!

etheltbags1 Tue 05-Dec-17 19:48:39

No . Not too old. The dogs owner was laughing he didnt even offer to let me use his bathroom to wash my faceshock
