I've just watched an EastEnders repeat and Ben took a carton of milk from the fridge, had a swig from it then replaced it, presumably complete with a good helping of germs! Yuk, yuk. What makes your stomach turn?

I love my kids and grandkids BUT even their dirty nappies made me boak, and having to pick up dog poo has stopped me getting a dog.Our cat wont use his litter tray ...which means getting up in the night to let him out and back in.I'd rather do that than have a mucky tray to get up to in the morning

I think it was 'a peck of dirt' *watermeadow, (well, according to DM)

Peck:
Unit of volume, equal to 2 gallons.

Quite a lot of dirt!

As I have no TV I hadn’t realised that the makers of Dettol et al have brained-washed most of the population to believe that EVERYTHING is covered with deadly germs and must be sprayed with nasty chemicals constantly.
This is nonsense and must be far more hazardous than contact with everyday dirt and microbes.
It’s been known for years that children exposed to animals have much lower rates of asthma and allergies.
Remember that your granny said we have to eat a pinch of dirt before we die.

My daughter used to have her dog in bed with her. Once, she ended up with the dog, and my grandson, then aged about three. She told my grandson off for picking his nose, and said "what bothers me is what you've done with it!"
Grandson replied "its ok, I wiped it on the dog".

Wilma, having scanned the posts on this thread, I am joining your group of the 'Less Bothered'.

I used to have to peel our dog off the little girl's leg, he used to wrap himself round her!

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 05-Dec-17 22:52:37

Jalima I would have said that rhyming word too! tchgrin

Don't remember it curing the Althete's Foot, but he did like my little brother's sweaty feet. Didn't make him randy though (the dog I mean)! tchgrin

Jalima1108 Tue 05-Dec-17 22:46:15

It must be the smell.
DD used to have a little friend whose house was rather smelly hence the children smelt too and our dog used to love humping her leg.

I wonder if dog saliva would cure athlete's foot? hmm

Yuk (or a word rhyming with that) is what I said when I put my feet in my furry slippers and found the cat had done a poo in one of them.

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 05-Dec-17 22:43:55

Actually this will make some of you reach for the sick bag! When I was 16 my parents and brothers went on holiday and I was allowed to stay at home. My boyfriend's little sister Mary had to stay with me though and it turned out she had Athlete's Foot (didn't know this at the time). She used to take her socks off and let our dog Sam lick her feet. It gave her relief from the itchiness, but Sam loved it so much it made him randy and he would hump anything he could afterwards. I had to put him in the garden until he had cooled down. Mary and I thought it was hilarious! I was a young 16yr old! tchgrin

The Group of the Less Bothered is growing! Couldn't think of a decent name - all suggestions welcome! tchgrin

Good heaven's, what a diverse range of tolerance!

Dogs licking, face definitely no, as really don't like it, however boss's dog will try to slip in a sly lick of my hand when I'm changing my boots ready to take her for her walk!

When it comes to cat's, unless you are monitoring their activities 24/7, you would be best to assume that they have wandered where you might not want them to.

As for other stuff, shopping bags on worktops, just wipe the surfaces down, and as said before, who on earth prepares food directly on the surface anyway?

A good way to clean plugholes of hair is to twirl a cotton bud around it. Still sickening though!

etheltbags1 Tue 05-Dec-17 19:48:39

No . Not too old. The dogs owner was laughing he didnt even offer to let me use his bathroom to wash my faceshock

HootyMcOwlface Tue 05-Dec-17 19:25:07

Phoenix made me howl with laughter at that false teeth story (on page 1 I think!) So funny, thanks for that! grin

The thing that makes me heave is vomit or the smell of it! Yuk!

Witzend Tue 05-Dec-17 18:02:36

I've never minded dogs licking my face, but then I'm a very doggy person.
One thing that really makes me heave is uncooked egg white - I can never have a fried egg anywhere but at home, since most people just don't know how to cook them properly - i.e the way I do it!

pollyperkins Tue 05-Dec-17 17:23:36

I used to love looking at my feet in the pedoscope and wriggling my toes. You could see all the nails in the shoe too.

pollyperkins Tue 05-Dec-17 17:21:40

I hope none of the super hygienic people ever come to my house or they'd be horrified! However I reckon it's. clean and hygienic enough and we are still alive and well!

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 05-Dec-17 17:21:16

The Pedoscope was also called the Shoe Fitting Fluoroscope. (Trying again with a photo from my laptop this time)

pollyperkins Tue 05-Dec-17 17:19:32

Can I join your club please Wilma?! Too many extremely neurotic people on here. Im not keen on being licked by dogs or cleaning plug holes (but I just get on with it) but many of the comments in here just amaze me!

"a supplement called 'radium malt' "
I remember it as Radio Malt - I loved it.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Malt
But what it had to do with radio I don't know.

Day6 Tue 05-Dec-17 16:52:59

Good post this, but far too close to my evening meal. I am amazed at how many make me feel quite ill.

Snap! I feel quite queasy reading this! shock

Day6 Tue 05-Dec-17 16:48:33

I have a things about plugholes and sinks, those clogged with food or hairs and rarely cleaned. Yuk. Also, mucky dishcloths. <shudder>

stevej4491 Tue 05-Dec-17 16:42:45

must have a cast -iron stomach.Nothing makes me retch, even clearing cats n dog mess or anyone elses vomit .Always been the same.

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 05-Dec-17 16:37:33

Janet Street-Porter has talked on Loose Women about the shoe fitting machine. It was called a Pedoscope. I tried to upload a photo of one, but it won't upload for some reason. Very weird!
