What makes you go "Yuk!" ?

My cat sleeps on my head and my dog on my feet. I hate having to wake up with cat hairs in my face and not being able to stretch my legs. But I wouldn´t call it "yuk". I feel totally protected and loved.

I also font lije to see people putting a spoon in to taste food whencooking and then replacing it - Using your finger is even worse!! This is a known method of contaminating food! So is coughing, sneezing or nose picking when preparing food.
But a bag on the table is not a problem as no food touches the table - its all on plates etc!

In our family, we all dip in with the one spoon, swig from the same cartons of milk, and, yes, horror of all horrors, eat peanuts from the one bowl. We are all reasonably healthy.

Recently while shopping I witnessed a woman I would estimate in her late forties early fifties go up to a young woman with a toddler in a pushchair pick the child out of the pushchair saying 'give your Nan a big kiss'
Plonked a slimy smacker right onto the childs mouth.
Yuk and more yuks.

Am quite particular about pets, my dear sister is as good as blind in one eye cos of dog poo and a friend is registered partially sighted for the same reason. Insist on hand washing for DGC coming into house from school. DGS's teacher, this year said "dabs" is not allowed-except for coughing and sneezing into elbows! What a treasure she is!

One friend always used to plonk her handbag in the middle of my kitchen worktop when she arrived. No-one has mentioned children sitting or standing actually in the shopping trolley (not in the child seat). Who knows what they have walked in outside? I've seen people hold money - coins or notes - between their teeth. I always wash my hands when I've handled money at home. As soon as DH and I come into the house when we've been out and about we both wash our hands.

No, mouth kissing, an absolute no, no. Not with my children, grandchildren, nobody, apart from my husband, in private.

When I was working a colleague said she had a phobia of flushing public loos so if it was just a wee she used that bit of paper to flush the loo with !

Dogs licking faces and people coughing or sneezing without making an attempt to turn away or cover their mouth.

I agree with Wilma how have you lot and your families survived, come on!! No wonder children these days have poor immune systems. Yes, some things are yuk, but it's exposure to germs that gets the immune system geared up! As for dogs licking faces, my daughter and I often get down to dog height with a friendly dog and get plenty of 'kisses', no harm done and we love it

I'm finding it very interesting that a lot of posters have said that they wash their hands immediately upon coming into the house, but do they change their shoes from outdoor to indoor slippers too?
ps I do the handwashing, and also take off my shoes. Here in my city there are many people who spit on the sidewalk. No way do I want to track those germs through my house.

I change into my slippers immediately, but that's just because I like slippers. I don't wash my hands.

Nothing makes me go 'yuk!' particularly although I was pretty sickened by my son in law ignoring my grandson vomiting everywhere and in distress last week whilst screaming at my daughter 'get your clothes off, they're contaminated!' I detest over the top OCD behaviour like that and I also blame all the allergies people have now on too much anti-bac hysteria.

Help yourself open salad bars in some pubs and restuarants. Yuk ! The thought of people beathing , sneezing, coughing etc. over food.

If you have had children or grandchildren and changed dirty nappies I don't see how picking up dog poo can be any worse than that. Much nicer than getting it on your shoes. I used to hate clearing vomit but having children put paid to that, and I got used to it. The thing I really do hate is B O and bad breath

Gilly scientist on tv said children picking nose and eating it are building up good immune systems . Love the story of dog licking teeth .i don't like dogs or cat licking out cups etc or faces . I used to hate it when my dc stepped in dog poo that would make me retch.

Yes your own grandchildren and your own pets is fine. I'm just fed up of scooping up the cat filth of the streets cats. It's not nice and my GC have ran through it many a time in the summer because I missed the odd one .

Totally agree about the BO and bad breath. Yuk

public loos, I try to avoid using them. but if I have to then I always hang my bag on a hook rather that put it on the floor, operate flush and door handles with a piece of loo paper or my sleeve/elbow. If I do have to use one I absolutely have to use the shower/bath/bidet before the day is out. I would rather go behind a bush.

Not at all. I don't think of germs at all just a Yuk with me . But then my medication gives me a weak tum
