May I ask? What if you didn't remake the bed , how do you think you may have felt?

OMG! - we never even make our bed from one day to the next - I mean; the queen is not about to come along on a visit!

If I were you I should instantly stop making beds ever for the sake of your health!

I'm with you paddyann I like my bed to be made in a certain way and DH knows better than to bother trying, as I will only re-do it again my way. Duvet pulled almost to the top then folded over a pillows width. Bottom pillow leaning against headboard with top pillow in front. 2 co-ordinating cushions one either side then my throw folded neatly across the bottom. I couldn't leave the house with an unmade bed .

I call this "how to get someone else to do the job for you" - there are so many things I don't do just the way husband likes them, that I just leave it up to him - making the bed is one of them. Everybody's happy!

We don't make our bed in the standard sense. We fold the duvet back double at the bottom of the bed as I like to 'air' the bed then straighten the bottom sheet and fluff the pillows. It's a case of who ever gets out of it last does the above.
The OP asks if she might have OCD I think Annie's question is relevant.

Oh dear, I just pull the duvet straight. My pillow lies flat, well I can't really stand it up, it's filled with buckwheat hulls. I have no cushions or extra pillows on my bed. Am I odd?

I'm really particular about how I make my bed. I insist the dogs get off it first.

Luckygirl Me neither. I "let it air" and I cannot B A to make it every day, unless the covers are in such a muddle they start falling off.
As for those piles of decorative cushions some people have on their beds I do not get the point.

I throw it right back to 'air' and sometimes air the duvet over the banisters.
The pillows have to be bashed around a bit then put neatly at the top, right side up, open ends on the outside, the duvet just pulled up halfway over the pillows.
That's it, no fuss, no bother, just neat and tidy.

hilda I've been thinking of filling some outdoor floor cushions with buckwheat but have no experience of it. What's it like please? Does it rustle? Thanks in advance!

The bed has to be military perfect in my house but then again i even line the Kiwi fruit up with exactly the same mm difference between them ! and dont start me on the fridge magnets.

We are exactly like you nina - and most days it stays like that until I go to bed! As I have said on here before that I could never make the bed straight away, it has to be aired.

Paddyann if you can't function until the bed is made your way then you may have a problem as Anniebach says.
OCD is another of those medical terms used indiscriminately but which is a real problem to sufferers.

Like Nina I fold the duvet right back and let it air, after giving it a shake, plump up & tidy the pillows then later in the day pull the duvet straight. Plain, neat & tidy, no excess pillows and cushions. I have rhinitis so keep soft furnishings to a minimum - would never have a 4-poster with huge swathes of dusty fabric hanging all over the place!

I don't make the bed either . We all have our little ways and preferences -we all have our routines. It's not necessarily OCD.

Yes to what nina and others say. The duvet folded well back to air, never pulled up. But I must straighten the bottom sheet and plump and turn the pillows - DH just throws the duvet back, so I have to tidy it all if he's last up.

When we got home after living in Germany, I used to hang the duvet out of the window to air as all my neighbours did out there. Till I started to feel like the neighbourhood eccentric....

I can't leave the house without making the bed, but am not fussy as to how it's done. As long as the pillows are plumped, sheet straightened and duvet given a shake before putting it back, I'm happy. Can't bear unmade beds - not OCD, just the way my mother taught me

I fold the quilt back to let the mattress air in the vain hope that the dry air will kill off a few dust mites at the same time lol. But that's only because I'm allergic to dust mites (well the nasty bits they leave everywhere) and sneezing fits are no fun when you get into bed desperate to go to sleep.

As no-one seems likely to invade the privacy of my bedroom, the bed is likely to remain unmade or the duvet is folded back for airing.

All the beds in my house have to be show house perfect everyday other wise I start to feel quite sick. When my daughter comes to stay I am forever fretting about the state of her bed and bedroom. I'm the same about everything else, washing up must be done and not left in the sink, dishwasher emptied asap, washing on line, in tumble dryer or basket nowwhere else and must not be left unwashed for more than two days; all clothes must face same way in wardrobe on the same hangars etc etc etc. I quite enjoy housework and yes I do get out a lot and do lots of other things.

I am not as bad as my sister whose furniture is frightened of her.
