Yes, and me, I also have a lounge. My dear departed neighbour, a wonderful old lady who was head of English at the local grammar school, held the word in such utter derision that I could never look her in the face and admit that was what I called our 'sitting room' .

I have a living room with a sofa in it, a bathroom, no napkins when I eat breakfast, dinner and tea. Tea is not my main meal, that's dinner.

I have a big toilet and a little toilet, and I often call them 'the lav'. I have a living room which I often call the 'front room' even though it's at the back. I have a sofa. Which I sometimes call a settee. Sometimes I call my dinner, my tea. Usually on a Saturday, and always on a Sunday. I don't use serviette so. Or napkins.

When I go to the toilet I go for a tinkle

Oh and I say scone with a short 'o' - not as in sounds like phone ...
and I like the jam on before the cream ...

I have a lounge too but one of my friends has a drawing room!

Do most of you use a table cloth as Harri mentioned?

We use cotton napkins but no tablecloth for all meals eaten in the kitchen but, if there are lots of us, we eat in the dining room with a table cloth but those linen effect paper ones.

That confuses me now I've thought about it.

Living room where I sit on a sofa or sometimes a settee, just for the variety
Conservatory (as a dining or sleeping in the sun room)
Bathroom
Napkins for me, serviettes for DH - no matter what they are called we need them!
Breakfast, lunch plus tea or dinner depending if it is a cold or hot meal
Also 'elevensis', anyone else have those?

Scones? Have to rhyme with phones for me but always jam before the cream .

Scone in Perthshire is pronounced Skoon.
Scones I eat are pronounced skonns.

Moving on to food. We call eggy bread , Batman toast ( only way my son would eat it when he was little) and the powder you put in milk to make a milkshake ' liquick spindle' . My GDs call golden syrup, carmickla !!
We also have a ' Cwtch' under the stairs and a built in larder

Apologies and no offence intended to you Daddima I know it was intended as a light hearted thread, but seems to have touched a nerve, why should it matter what people call things or how they pronounce them?
