I'm sorry, but I can't abide it when people call their main meal "tea" I think it's really common and makes me inwardly sneer.

lynnie1 Sun 03-Apr-16 18:38:43

Does it really ?

Ana Sun 03-Apr-16 18:38:43

wot! How snobbish...(not to mention rude) hmm

wot Sun 03-Apr-16 18:39:21

Oh yes, I remember my mum going on about non u people! Wasn't it Nancy mitford who invented that description?

tanith Sun 03-Apr-16 18:39:33

hmm

annsixty Sun 03-Apr-16 18:42:03

I am so non u I actually have a three piece suite (shock horror) in my lounge from where I go to the loo. We do use napkins ( in silver rings) at dinner, after breakfast and lunch. We do have a dining room ,used everyday until about May when we eat in the conservatory.

wot Sun 03-Apr-16 18:42:32

Yes, snobbish. And to hear me, your think I was a cockney guttersnipe . But tea for heaven's sake! My mum was snobby and used to call it "high tea" or dinner. Both parents were disappointed when we grew up with the local accent.

wot Sun 03-Apr-16 18:43:50

Time for me to apologise. I've had my tea. Sorry.

obieone Sun 03-Apr-16 18:45:15

I am not playing this game as I lose!
And we have tea every day!

wot Sun 03-Apr-16 18:47:03

Sorry. Really I am. I didn't think it was that bad but yes, I was rude.

annsixty Sun 03-Apr-16 18:50:42

For goodness sake don't beat yourself up. You are forgiven.

lynnie1 Sun 03-Apr-16 18:51:28

I wish I hadn't bothered either, but thanks for your opinion wot...

Margsus Sun 03-Apr-16 18:52:33

I have a lounge, in which there are two sofas (and an armchair so there!).
I have two loos.
We have breakfast, lunch and dinner, when we use paper serviettes.
Am I a snob?

Bellanonna Sun 03-Apr-16 18:53:01

At least you admit it wot !

Sitting or living room
Dining room
Sofa
Napkins when we actually use them
Breakfast
Lunch
Supper
Loo

whitewave Sun 03-Apr-16 18:53:10

I didn't take you seriously anyway wot?

kittylester Sun 03-Apr-16 18:53:45

We have a lounge, with sofas, we use napkins with our own individual rings ( so we know which is which!) We use them for lunch too but not for breakfast (and now I'm confused) I go to the loo or I might need a wee or a poo!! We eat dinner/ tea depending on my mood. We have a glass corridor and a playroom!

Ana Sun 03-Apr-16 18:54:07

It was rude because a couple of posters had already referred to their evening meal as 'tea'.

Bellanonna Sun 03-Apr-16 18:54:17

Does any of it really matter?

pompa Sun 03-Apr-16 18:54:20

Sorry, I was having my tea, so have on;ly just caught up.

Wot, I think your apology is nowhere near enough, I think 1000 lines "I must not scorn the great British tea". is called for here grin
