No problem choose your supermarket preference and go for it. I have shopped with Sainsbury, And wait rose. Works fine for me.

I have used Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda and Waitrose. Waitrose was very good, as a new customer I had £30 off my first shop. Out of the others I prefer Sainsbury. They keep you informed on when they will arrive. My daughter uses Morrisons now and says they are good.

I find I spend less by online shopping and bargains are to be had. If you are not fussy about your booked time slot a delivery can cost as little as £1. I have used Ocado, Tesco and Sainsbury's making use of their special introductory offers and they have all been very good. I tend now to use Tesco and deliveries have been straightforward. If you like the experience of shopping it may not be for you, but it is a no brainer for me. Good luck with your wheels x

I have recently converted to grocery shopping on line and I LOVE it! I use Sainsburys. You choose an hour long delivery slot and it can cost as little as £1. If you spend over £100 it is free delivery. If I am near that amount I top up on loo rolls, tea bags etc and get free delivery. I will happily not go back to going around the supermarkets again! If we do go it's for a few odd things only or to have a look around! The delivery drivers are lovely too! One even brings a biscuit for our dog!

No more tiring shopping trips for me! I wouldn't manage without my Tesco delivery which is always carried direct into my kitchen by nice people. They keep to within the time slot very well in my experience and the one time they were running late due to snow they rang me to let me know what was happening.

I always start my next shopping right after the last delivery comes and bob in and out on my 'pooter adding or changing what I want right up till late at night the day before delivery. There are spaces to make particular notes to the 'pickers' of what you really want as in 'ready to eat bananas' or 'mixed green and ripe' or 'salami sliced very thinly' etc.
The first shop will take you longer than you think until you get the hang of it but there are a lot of helps and if you are stuck you can ring the help line. I have a basic list which I keep on there and take what I want from that. When you have been doing it for a while you get reminders of things you regularly order and may have forgotten which is quite handy - even if a bit big-brotherish!

I always tick the box for delivery without bags and if things need a bag they will bag it anyway and without charge, otherwise you pay 40pence per delivery.

I am a delivery saver customer and I am supposed to get preferential treatment whatever that infers. I paid for my delivery saver charge with my reward coupons on the double up scheme so I even got a good bargain.

I think I have turned into a 'nerd' as GS would say!

Love it. We don' t use it all that often. Really useful when you do self catering on holiday though.

I have used Asda and Tesco a couple of times when they first started online shopping and had a delivery from Ocado a couple of weeks ago. All have been very good and delivered on time. Ocado was especially good as the driver rang to say he was round the corner and could he deliver earlier but if it was a problem he would come at the allotted time and the savings were very good. Probably if/when the time comes we can no longer go to the supermarket we'll start to shop online (I buy nearly everything else online these days) but at the moment it's a trip out on a Friday afternoon which we quite enjoy plus we sometimes get to have tea out which is always a bonus

Online grocery shopping is awesome. We had the first ever Tesco delivery when they started out and apart from the Christmas week delivery never had any trouble.

I have also used Sainsbury's and Ocado. I love Ocado and as they price match to Tesco they would be my first choice. They also delivered well on Christmas week unlike Tesco who made the oddest substitutions EVER.

I think once you get used to it you'll love it.

I have a weekly Ocado delivery. I couldn't go back to doing the whole shop myself, but I do like to leave a few odd items to pick up instore during the week. Gets me out of the house, and I can pick up the odd bunch of flowers.

I would miss shops if I didn't do that.

I also shop on line but I use it mainly for heavy items such as cat litter and I buy a lot of long life semi skimmed milk. £40 is the average minimum buy and if I am having problems making that amount (rare!) like others I make it up buying loo rolls.

I have done the rounds and I am with Morrisons again. Their goods are kept at a warehouse so they rarely run out. If I have a beef sometimes the use by dates are too short and I cannot eat the food specially if I buy eg 3 items for a tenner. My freezer is small so that is not a way out for me.

I do recommend it but as somebody said, your first shop takes ages until you are familiar with that system.

If you are disabled/infirm it might be a good idea to use Ocado. They are the only ones who bring the shopping into the house for you. All the others have refused to do so, and just leave it on the doorstep for you to unpack it and carry in.

That's interesting about the bag charge, Synonymous. I might try that for our Waitrose delivery to the holiday cottage next week.

Morrisons and Sainsbury drivers offer to bring items into my kitchen.

Re bag charge I am happy to pay and then I give the Morrison van driver eg 10 bags back and that is credited to my account, albeit 50p!

Tesco always bring my delivery into the kitchen. I think you must have been unlucky and got an unhelpful driver.

Lillie if you want it carried in they are supposed to do it. The one time Mr Grumpy delivered and dumped it on the doorstep until I remonstrated with him I complained to H.O. and they arranged for more training for him and a shopping voucher by way of an apology for me.
So do complain!

Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to the site and have been settling in by enjoying the many lively comments about a huge range of subjects.

Just wanted to say that my Mum used to use the Somerfield system of shop yourself and then have it delivered. She loved it as it meant she could still choose her own stuff, especially fresh food, then pay and await delivery at home in an hour or so. It kept her going out to the shops as well. Sadly when the company was bought out the deliveries stopped and it really affected her. She was about 85 at the time and after that we couldn't get her to go out unless she had to. Shame that no stores do this now, as far as I know.

I used it when I have a full leg plaster on. Took a while to sort out the list the first time but straight forward after that. Sometimes use by dates short and fruit not always the size you would pick for yourself, but overall positive.

D until recently was manager for Asda home delivery in Edinburgh and one of her drivers Gary took dog biscuits with him.

We`ve used Asda for several years with no trouble, until they didn`t deliver our Christmas week order this year, when I complained we were promised it faithfully for Christmas Eve, but no delivery arrived, so we were left without quite a few festive items. We now use Tesco, very helpful delivery drivers, and an hour slot, rather than the Asda 2 hour slots, and they will bring it inside if asked. The only gripe from me is that if I don`t keep an eye on the screen, it quite often puts me down for more than I want, i.e. the other week I was very nearly landed with 96 bunches of bananas, and one week I was delivered 26 Swiss rolls!

I have used Waitrose, Sainsburys ,Tesco and Ocado. At the moment I'm using Tesco. I used Waitrose until OH retired and now find it a bit pricey, if money was no object I'd use them. I used Ocado a couple of times, the last time I used them my vegetables and chilled food were swimming around in a couple of inches of water in bottom of the bags. The delivery man seemed surprised when I refused delivery of them, he said it was water from the chill cabinet! This was a few years ago perhaps they've improved.
I'd definitely recommend home delivery,no more slogging round supermarkets and standing in queues. Once you get used to ordering online it's a doddle. The delivery men always offer to take shopping through to kitchen.

Just be careful about replacement items if what you want isn't in stock. Sometimes you can get some very strange things coming! I generally now say I don't want any replacements.

I too find that you have to be really careful when adjusting the numbers as sometimes you can end up with a feast or a famine?

Only Tesco deliver to my rural area but they were a god-send when I had a fractured leg and couldn't get out to shop. I've also used them to deliver to my aged mum.

I've nothing negative to say about them at all, they're always efficient and they'll even deliver right into your fridge, if that's what you want. Any errors are quickly corrected.

I find I have less waste, too, because I meal-plan more carefully.
