A friend of mine lost the sight in one eye due to complications in anaesthesia during surgery for breast cancer recently so I wouldn't recommend any surgery that was not strictly necessary.

Although I very much understand what you are saying annsixty if it is your own body it is easy to become obsessed with some small flaw rather than take a rational approach. Perhaps your friend is also mourning her loss of youth and health.

I thought surgeons were supposed to offer reconstruction at the time of the original surgery? Now sure where I got that from. Surely it would make more sense to just have one op?

Yes non you are. So perhaps the surgeon thought it was too insignificant to warrant a reconstruction

She was only in for a few hours and came home with a plaster over a few stitches so it really was insignificant.

I find the politics threads so depressing that I rarely read them now, and don't want to get involved in posting. Obviously we are never all going to agree about the government, the referendum, the previous government, the previous referendum - you name it - but we should be able to say what we think without the sheer nastiness which we have had on some of these threads in the past.

The lighter threads can be fun. For example, I enjoyed the Ask a Question one, which got into the second collection but then, I think, we just ran out of questions, but maybe it could be revived at some point. Even so, somebody who didn't want to take part found it necessary to ask if there was any point to such a thread!

Recently I tried in vain to put a post on the thread about odd compliments, because I thought mine was funny (it was at the time, anyway) but after several attempts I realised that my laptop needs upgrading and so eventually put it on using the desktop. Far from amusing anyone, the thread then disappeared, so bang goes my attempt to cheer you all up

Like others I think it's the time of year and it has been particularly grey and drab, yep mild but grey. It's the time for coughs, sinus problems and sore throats. Not to mention hot swollen joints. I don't mind reading the little moans. It often makes me realise I'm not on my own feeling like I do. I have a holiday question but I'm too miserable to start a thread. Today has been sunny (ish) the garden looks lovely, birds are singing, my four year old DGS has just phoned me for a chat ( to tell me about a new toy) DH said 'your hair looks nice' this afternoon and we are just settling down with ipad, books and tv for the evening ( sigh of contentment) so no moans from me! I even have a box of Maltesers.

My little dgd is poorly, so she is coming to Nana for a cuddly day on the sofa. So I'm definitely not grumpy.

For my birthday last week, DH bought me a little silver necklace with a golden bee on it, to remind me to "Bee Happy!" I had seen it and admired it in a small jewellery shop some time ago.
