I am the opposite of grumpy today. 5 years ago today I has surgery for breast cancer. I've seen my consultant today and been discharged. I feel the same person I was before the diagnosis and that was my goal??????

The trouble is, sometimes one person's 'jokey comment' can be interpreted as nasty when it meant to be nothing of the sort - I'm sure a lot of us have fallen foul of that law of Sod!

I feel horrible and regret it when I've been nasty! On here and in real life. It's just spite and I wish I didn't do it.

As a comparative newby, I have been reading threads for about 6 months, and ten days ago decided to post, but I have been very selective in where to post, as have noticed "mean girl) comments on rather nice threads. This does take the spontaneity out of posting (I have an opinion on every thing) so let's welcome all comments grumpy or not

Thank you all. The surgeon was pleased. She gave me a hug. I was almost tearful, although wasn't at all during treatment. I've bought a rambling rose to remind me of today.

DH definitely got out of the wrong side of bed this morning. I've just endured a (thankfully brief) shopping trip with him moaning about everything and everybody but as we were driving back up the farm road I burst out laughing when I heard on the radio that a multi-million pound research ship is to be named 'Boaty McBoatface'

I've gone down in spirit now after feeling better today........my friends dog is very ill [hes 13] so feel so sorry for her as she's on her own, apart from her dog.

After reading pensionpats good news I decided I would post on here my gripe of yesterday and not start a thread.
An acquaintance of mine about whom I have posted before had a BC op about 6 months ago.
She had her lump removed, grade 1 stage 1,no spread, 3 weeks of radiotherapy. Marvellous outcome.
She has now decided that she can't live with the very limited deformity and the fact that her nipple is slightly inverted. She saw the surgeon last week and "cried for an hour* her words, and he has promised her a cosmetic procedure,she actually said " reconstruction" on an area which can't be seen and I think is unnecessary but then what do I know?
She is 75 and wants to still wear a bikini on holiday
Meanwhile people are waiting months in pain for ops which will transform their lives. Not me I hasten to add I just feel annoyed on their behalf.

It is so strange, just today I was thinking that it would be a good idea to have a "Good News" newspaper (didn't think of Gransnet), because so much of news is depressing, and indeed some of that on Gransnet does occasionally get that way, so this in my opinion was a good thread to start and with some interesting comments. It is difficult to be positive if life is treating you badly, and this is quite a good place to try to let go of the bad times. there is often some really good news here too.
