soop I am amazed at the affection your friend was held in - what an huge amount of money to have been raised.
Your hard work in the garden has certainly paid off but I don't know where you get the energy. I'm a rubbish gardener but whatever those orange and red and yellow flowers are they're glorious !
Galen I did chuckle at the case of mistaken identity of the 'silkies' . For once I wasn't misled , we had been looking at keeping some chickens and these are simply lovely . I'm not sure I'd want to keep them inside but horse for courses eh?
Well, I need to go and pack my bag for the doctors, tissues, glasses, phone, iPad( I'll be there a while !) cough sweets. Its like a day out

I mentioned on another thread that my brother has broken and cracked ribs sustained by falling from a stepladder, balanced on a garden table, rather too close to the wall which he hit on his way down as the stepladder toppled. And, my BiL being in hospital after falling over while having a dizzy spell. And, Mum coming and going, as it were! There are lots of illnesses and accidents - I wonder if I am the common denominator?

The photos of the flowery garden wasn't taken this year. It is something like that we are looking forward to. A few early blooms are adding splashes of colour. Mostly yellows and purples.

The care home visit was tough. Our neighbour has almost lost his voice. It's been becoming frailer by the week. I had to lean in very close to him to hear him. A few words brought tears to my eyes; 'I want to go home with you...'
M was enthralled with the television news regarding the hijacked plane. She kept repeating...they should go in with guns blazing... I thought. That wouldn't necessarily result in a happy conclusion.
I sat for a while with C. C is permanently smiling. She tells me at each visit that the key to happiness is accepting one's lot. She's right. The room is full of residents who are either fast asleep, calling out for assistance, frustrated by their lot in life...C remains Zen-like. She's a survivor.
number...that poor lady. She must have been desperate.
Galen I'm chuffed that Anne can cruise with you. You will do her a lot of good.
Charleyg Our friend will celebrate his 80th birthday on the same day that I reach my 75th. In body he's still very active. In mind...he's going down hill fast. So sad. He was diagnosed with oncoming dementia shortly before his wife died from cancer. They had been "courting" for about 22 years. Next month would have been their 2nd wedding anniversary.
I see that we are perilously close to having to close this kitchen door and re-open yet another.
I shall look in first thing tomorrow morning. I'm logging off until then. I think that we'll call our next venue...*Soop's Kitcheners*...
Whichever one of you lot reaches the 1000th message, would you kindly open ONE new kitchen on my behalf. .
I'm aboot to prepare myself for a marathon session of ironing for my pal. She has returned from a holiday. Stacks of stuff to deal with.
