Soop's kitchen extension

What a gale last night, no sleeping for about 2 hours, and with losing an hour due to the clocks going forward not much sleep was had. Luckily we didn't lie in too long as a friend turned up unexpectedly because he hadn't heard from us all week (that was nice). I hadn't cleared up breakfast and after he had gone I said to OH 'why does he always come round when it is messy'. He replied 'don't worry, home from home' ?? he does have three small children.

Hello dear Kitcheners. I trust that you are doing what best pleases you on this Easter Sunday.

We made a last minute decision to take our pals from the village out to a new carvery that has opened along the peninsular. Like most decisions made on spec it turned out really well. They had recently spent a holiday in Spain with two other couples. Sadly, the wives of both couples, suffer from dementia. One lady is now at the stage where she is in need of full-time care.

dusty I was told that because my spine has a lateral curvature, my pelvis is misaligned and one leg is shorter than the other. Whenever I fall, it is almost always due to one foot tripping the other. Daft as a brush...me.

number Mia and Rory have something in common; the ability to procrastinate for an age before diving headlong through the narrowing space of a closing door. And, naturally, it is we who feel guilty for any damage done.

Give me 15 minutes notice of visitors arriving, and I can work wonders with a feather duster and a broom and dustpan.

annsixty When I had a long bout of sciatica, the GP provided me with a tens machine. On going to bed (when leg pain was at its worst) I attached rubber discs to the area, switched on the battery operated machine, and regular pulses of mild shock HELPED me considerably. It would be worth a try.

soop sorry but I cannot see Rory rushing anywhere! He has the regal look about him- his rushing days are long gone.

I agree, give me 15 minutes notice and I pop everything into a cupboard I had made under the stairs. My staircase goes through my living room. I do not bother with a duster and it takes 2 minutes to run the hoover around.

I did not think that we would be moving to the extension for at least a week- how wrong I was- it maybe tomorrow or Tuesday.

Nice to have lunch out- no need to think about an evening meal except maybe biscuits and cheese or something just as simple.

Charleyg Rory can (sometimes) scoot like a youngster. He and Tortoiseshell cat play at chasing each other around the garden. One minute MacS asks...where's Rory? Before I can reply, he'll whizz by with T in hot pursuit. Give them a few minutes...and back races T with Rory in hot pursuit. After a spell of catch, they settle down beside each other on the back door mat. Within the last fortnight they've spent a great deal of time "chilling out". Rory's funny episodes of spinning around in ever-decreasing circles, back rippling, have thankfully stopped.

I shall get into my most comfortable clothing. The large lunch has settled like a lead weight and my waist band is straining.
After tomorrow...back to the exercise bike routine and the daily walkabout.

Can I suggest that now the weather is a bit better we move into the conservatory? We will be able to watch soop work in the garden from there ?

Whew they've all gone! Feet are up, wine in glass, house back to normal, I love having people and love seeing them go so that I can enjoy the benefits of a tidied up house!
DD and SIL brought Basil who made himself entirely at home. He snarfed Grace's dinner and settled on her bed so she took up residence on his sheepskin and they both seemed quite happy to see each other!!
There's a glimpse of DD who is quite heavily pregnant (35weeks) and whose comment on putting the clocks forward was "Oh an hour's less insomnia!" Poor girl!

How I would love ,for myself or an offspring,to be 35 weeks pregnant and the wonderful anticipation that it engendered.
I loved being pregnant and should have had more children.
After your D's experience last year I wish her all the luck in the world.

Anne ( next door) came round for a meal with her sister.
Anne's husband died suddenly recently!
The sister was going on about how easy it was for A rather than have to watch her husband die Ioved 6 years.
She complained A was shouting at het etc. A is still arranging the funeral ( Wednesday)
A stormed out!
I tore strip off sister. A's darling daughter rang to say that the sister should leave ( I agreed) A came back to my house to calm down!
The sister really is a nasty selfish bit of work.
I'm m exhausted!

Alea Basil is very much at home and almost looks as though he has taken over. Grace is comfortable, having a lovely snooze. At least your daughter will have had the sprog by the time the very hot weather arrives. I can dream!

Phew indeed! Shall I have a glass of ? (had two at lunch-time and still managed to cook dinner for 9!).
Most have gone home, one being bathed- he's very tired having been awake since 5 am, I have 'hovered' round to prevent chocolate, mud and cake being trodden into the new carpet and am now looking forward to The Night Manager then

And it is only 7.30 (well, 8.30)

High winds and heavy rain here- my house appears to be intact but I have not ventured outside. N o trees down near me which I suppose is something.

Tara asked to go out but changed her mind and has retired to bed- little madam, having dragged me out of mine around 7.30am I was not impressed.

Of course I could do more wardrobe clearance or catch up with TV. I wonder what I will do?!

I have just noticed that my computer clock did not change automatically, must do that now.

Morning all !

I hope 'Katie' has left you mostly unscathed. Our neighbours newly erected gazebo is roofless but apart from tumbled chairs and pots we're unscathed.

My tonsillitis is in full flow so I felt pretty poorly all weekend ( why does this sort of thing strike when there is no possibility of getting any antibiotics for my ulcerated throat?). Luckily all my visitors chipped in and seemed happy to do so, and I just sat on my chair in -regal- -splendour- pjs and surveyed my domain.

The little ones has a boisterous Easter egg hunt aided by Holly and Sam. Himself cooked a fine meal with his ex army pals - totally wasted on me sadly - 1 ice lolly and some jelly was the sum total of my lunch.

I've missed a lot here so will catch up , but I hope the sun shone on you all and Easter Eggs were in plentiful supply!!

( I know I feel bad because my egg is intact and likely to be for some days )

Galen the dinner party from hell? It would make a good TV play wouldn't it? But what a pain for you and distressing for your neighbour.

Glad you noticed that Grace was having a snooze for a change Charleygirl having doggy company seems to have worn her out as she barely stirred all night!
Thank you annsixty for remembering DD's sadness of last year. I wouldn't say she is sailing through this pregnancy, the sickness went on for longer than it might, but fortunately eased just before she thought she might need something to help. She has also had threatened pregnancy diabetes, strange as she eats practically no sugar and is by nature stick thin, but that turned out to be a false alarm. The baby has been transverse for a few weeks and is showing little indication of turning too. But they are so looking forward to this much wanted baby ? !

Thankfully the rain has stopped and the wind is less, even the sun is out which is a minor miracle.

Tara still has not moved from her bedroom upstairs- that is the life.

NanaandGrampy it sounds as though you should be hot footing it tomorrow to your GP's surgery and get some treatment. I hope that you feel marginally better today. You are lucky that you have a DH who does not need a map to find the kitchen.

Alea hopefully the next 4-5 weeks will whiz by and the baby will arrive at a reasonable time of the day! Do you know the sex of it yet? I doubt if Basil will be overly impressed.

Good afternoon from a calm and sunny Kintyre. As some of our Kitcheners already know, we often have wild weather to contend with. Not this weekend...Katie did her bit to disrupt elsewhere. I'm sorry for those of you whose weekend travel arrangements have been disrupted. Heathrow and Gatwick airports are busy trying to cope with stranded and delayed passengers.

Galen Anne's sister sounds totally bonkers and insensitive. You must have felt awful. I'm glad that sister left and A came back to cool down and enjoy your company. Will sister attend the funeral? Good grief!

NanaandGrampy Your husband did extremely well to hold the fort and enable your visitors to enjoy the Easter treats. Dear me! Off to the GP (for you) first thing tomorrow. Tonsillitis calls for serious medication. Keep your chocolate egg hidden away. Your turn will come.

Jalima The Night Manager...what a climax. I thoroughly enjoyed the drama. The actors were well chosen.

TizLiz I seem to recall leaving the Tens Machine operating throughout the night. I may be mistaken. All I can say for certain is that it was beneficial.

annsixty How are you coping? I wish that I could offer some proper support.

Our village has approx. 200 inhabitants. I told you that the kirk was packed for our pal's memorial service AND that 200 people stood outside as there was no room inside. Many mourners had travelled from a variety of locations. Some far afield. A number went on to the crematorium, near Helensburgh. Yesterday, our other friend told us that the total left on the collection plate was over £2000. Amazing!

Here is a fraction of the garden from which I've been clearing barrow-loads of tough stuff that had taken root and was suffocating the wild flowers and cutting out the light. There is ample room for nettles to grow. Wild flowers. Mosses and fungus. Anything, other than more knotted brambles.

I'm about to wrap our eldest Granddaughter's 27th birthday gift. She is the "arty-farty" one.

Tomorrow will be care home visiting day. I'm hoping that the two sisters have forgotten why they appear to have fallen out with each other. It's difficult to sit between them when there is a bit of a strained atmosphere.

Anne's sister went home this am. No! She's not attending the funeral thank goodness.

The final straw though was Gary coming in this am. A little tearful. He'd just had to take one of their two pet silkies to vets to be put down. Mabel was 13 years old and now her companion Gert is pining.

Galen that is very sad- I can imagine that the other dog is pining.

They're not dogs. They are chickens!
