A bit cheeky of me to start this, but hope it is allowed!
Good morning Kitcheners!
DH seems to be perking up (typical!) which is good and is planning on getting up properly, shower and dressed.
Now I can moan that I have nonetheless cancelled a day trip I was booked on tomorrow to the Arts and Crafts museum in Chipping Campden and then to Rodmarton Manor with my art history class. Can't leave him for a long day without any means of getting back at short notice, heigh Ho, c'est la vie!

Alea Fri 04-Mar-16 07:58:53

That's a relief, kitty. I often feel the stress in a situation can be dramatically reduced by just removing one complication component. Suddenly things seem possible again. Good luck with the rest of it!

annsixty Fri 04-Mar-16 08:13:27

What lovely news glamma and congratulations.
GGC is the next step in our family but please not yet as oldest GC is only 17!!!.

glammanana Fri 04-Mar-16 08:18:10

Thanks ladies for the good wishes, off to the maternity ward this evening to have a cuddle xxx

NanaandGrampy Fri 04-Mar-16 08:25:19

Oh many congratulations Glamma , I too like the new arrivals name. Its hard to get excited when someone names their baby 'Pear' but Sophia Rose is most definitely a princesses name. Enjoy your visit !!

Nelliemoser Fri 04-Mar-16 08:42:15

Congratulations Glamma.

annodomini Fri 04-Mar-16 09:36:58

Congratulations greatglamma! Enjoy your first cuddle - first of many. Sophia Rose is a pretty name. flowers x x x

Charleygirl Fri 04-Mar-16 09:57:46

That is a lovely name, congratulations and flowers.

It is a lovely sunny day here in London. Now that the paint in the kitchen is dry I must empty drawers and cupboards but where to put the contents? I do not want to leave it all until the last minute, especially as more cleaning needs to be done. Maybe it would have been easier to move house but I suppose I would have needed to change things there also.

The way Tara was carrying on this morning she nearly found her way to the Cat Protection League for re-homing. She is trying to get into my mirrored wardrobe by scratching the beading which she has almost succeeded in dislodging. Then she decided to dig for victory on my duvet cover. She is out now and I will not see her until close to "Shetland" starting.

She used to be like Grace and Rory but no longer, she has to explore the great outdoors for many hours.

Lona Fri 04-Mar-16 10:11:15

glamma! That's wonderful news, Sofia Rose is a very e!egant name flowers, enjoy your cuddle!
soop I know that feeling when you realise your lifestyle doesn't fit with your wardrobe. I remember that beautiful outfit you had for a family wedding a few years ago, you looked so glamorous. Has it gone now?

annsixty Fri 04-Mar-16 10:18:45

The snow here, not a lot, has meant that S and GD cannot make it to the Dental Hospital and their appt had been cancelled and a new one given for JUNE. She is so upset. Why are we always so unprepared for snow?.

Alea Fri 04-Mar-16 10:21:39

I have thrown out so many things over the years which I could, at the time, easily afford to replace. Kicking myself now as much of it would have been useful and wearable. sad I think that is why I still pack things into bags in the loft rather than do the "sensible" thing.

Galen Fri 04-Mar-16 12:37:44

Youve all heard me talk about the old git next door. Well I'm sorry to say that he dropped dead yesterday while on his regular Thursday cycle run.he was aged 75.
I suspect I'll miss the old codger.

Charleygirl Fri 04-Mar-16 12:55:39

Galen yes, I have heard you mention him many times. You probably will miss him but it would appear that he died quickly and doing something that he enjoyed doing. It sounds as though he had a heart attack.

soop Fri 04-Mar-16 15:12:56

Welcome to the world, Sofia Rose. Such a beautiful name. Congratulations to all the family...especially Glamma now a proud Great Grandmother. [flower] and sunshine

annsixty The fact that a fall of snow can disrupt (when other regions in other countries live with mountains of the stuff) always amazes me. June must seem like a very long time ahead for your granddaughter. She has had to be tremendously patient throughout her life.

Galen You naughty tyke!!! wink

Lona That particular outfit is wrapped in tissue and boxed. It cost an eye-watering amount but I cannot possibly sell it. I'm about to rummage through the wardrobe(s) again, to see what other "high-class clobber" I can sell on eBay.

The care home remains closed to visitors. I've managed to catch Andy's first match in the Davis Cup...which he WON!

Badenkate Fri 04-Mar-16 15:30:06

Congratulations Glamma, flowers for you and the proud parents. I agree with everyone else, Sophia Rose is a really pretty name.

We haven't had any snow here in North Shropshire today, but it's been really miserably damp and drizzly. DS1 phoned an hour or so ago saying it's been snowing most of the day in Stockport and a lot of the schools are closed! This is actually not much further north than us - another one if the few reasons to be grateful for the Cheshire Gap (which I'd never heard of until coming here to live).

Tizliz Fri 04-Mar-16 16:23:31

Seem to be reaching an age when people I know keep on dying. The lady that ran the charity shop next door to our workshop died yesterday. I had to take her home a few months ago, but she was soon back working again - think it was what kept her going, she was 86 - but she went into hospital last month, then to respite care in the local hospital and just faded away. She was such a strong person. She broke her neck as a child during the war but that never held her back. I loved listening to her stories, even though she thought I knew who everyone was (only been here 10 years). She much preferred to ask OH to fix things in the shop than call head office, but she did take in our parcels (even if she did forget she had my new pc for three days!!).

Talking about my pc angry, had to do a factory reset today, took until now to reload all the data mainly because some of it is duplicates of duplicates of duplicates. After deleting 6,000 unwanted emails my hand doesn't want to work any more. Hope that it is fixed now as it will be out of warranty very soon.

I have blush clothes in my spare wardrobe that I have never worn. Did suggest that I ebayed some but my OH is convinced that we will go out somewhere posh at some time. In the meantime my jeans and fleece get more than their fair share of wearing.

janeainsworth Fri 04-Mar-16 16:27:14

glamma Congratulations wineflowers

annsixty Fri 04-Mar-16 17:06:17

Badenkate Stockport is where I am and it has been quite bad all day with some schools closed. It had stopped now but so much slush that as Lona said on another thread, if it freezes it will be treacherous.
Good news on the "teeth" my ex DiL rang and sorted her another appt for March 31st. She insisted on speaking to the Orthodontist and after holding on for 55 mins she sorted it. Persistence pays.

soop Fri 04-Mar-16 18:24:45

I'm in a bit of a rush. So sorry to have to leave you right this minute. I promise to catch up with all Kitcheners news in the morning.

Big group (((hugs))) moon

Tizliz Fri 04-Mar-16 18:41:28

soop we forgive you as long as you are rushing towards a glass of wine!

annodomini Fri 04-Mar-16 18:46:45

Just down the road from Stockport, in Poynton, we had about 7 hours of snow. It has stopped but the thermometer is now down to zero, so I predict some icicles in the morning!

NanaandGrampy Sat 05-Mar-16 09:18:21

Good morning all - there will be soft boiled eggs, and crusty toast served by himself if anyone wants a late and lazy breakfast!!

No snow here annodomini now I'm retired I wouldn't mind a bit but it used to be treacherous when I had to commute. It's remarkably warm here strangely but we do have that overcast heavy sky that is a forerunner for some snow.

My youngest daughter is away for a couple of days at a spa for her best friends hen night(s) and her littlest one went down with chickenpox just before she left. Her husband is a lovely chap but a bit of a flapper and not always high in patience.

So he has two under 4s , one of whom has only been out for 2 days in the last 3 weeks due to having chicken pox , and one who also hasn't been out and is now looking like a very complicated dot-to-dot puzzle !!

We have a little sweepstake going here as to how long it will take him to call and ask to be rescued smile . It's been 20 hours so far with another 30 to go - anyone want in ???

glammanana Sat 05-Mar-16 09:37:18

Thanks once again for the kind wishes we popped into the maternity ward yesterday and I had a quick glance at new babe,I let DD take all the glory as its her first DGD little one is of course a little sweetie and DGS2s partner are so excited, they go home to-day so I will leave them to get into a sort of routine and get rested before I visit possibly next week when I am on holiday from work gives me more time to buy some more pinky things doesn't it lol. xx
I am finding the typing getting easier by the day now its been such a long haul with the break, even just moving the fingers sent pain up the entire arm I go back to specialist in April to check if there has been any improvement as to being able to graft the replacement shoulder joint and go from there, its really scary as I imagine I will be in pain again after the operation so not sure which way to go really,I'm sure it should have been done when the accident first happened I would be well on the way to recovery by now but the specialist knows best I should imagine.

soop Sat 05-Mar-16 12:23:54

A bright and sun-filled good afternoon to all our lovely Kitcheners. For those of you with snow on the ground, please take good care. A nasty fall can have serious consequences. Here in Kintyre we have had no snowfall all winter long. There is a dusting on the Paps of Jura.

glamma You've had a horrid time since your accident. I'm certain that you will be well advised regarding the benefits of surgery.
On the subject of the newest member of your family...please, at some time, may us lot have a wee photo to coo over? smile

NanaandGrampy...such thoughtful Kitcheners. It's a treat to have a delicious ready-cooked breakfast to tuck into after a pleasant walk in the sunshine.

Tizliz Your neighbour who has died sounds very like a friend that we know in the village. She is now back in hospital and there is no hope of her recovering. A stronger, more feisty lady would be difficult to find. When we moved to the village, she was one of the first to welcome us. A good organiser. A busy member of all village activities. We walked past her home this morning. The daffodils are almost in bloom. It is sad to think that this spring she won't be outside with her trowel and tending her lovely garden.

annsixty You are right...the call was well worth holding on for. Patience and perseverance have triumphed.

thatbags Sat 05-Mar-16 14:12:30

I'm glad you feel a little recovered, glam, and I hope any further treatment you have will help a great deal. It's so hard when the slightest thing causes pain flowers.

Congratulations on the new grandchild. Here's a flower for her:

soop Sat 05-Mar-16 16:26:42

bags Your flower is delightful.
I hope that you are feeling better. Perhaps a spell of sunshine is just the tonic some of us need. sunshine

MacSporran is cutting the lawn. Rory is officiating. I've spent most of the afternoon ironing whilst watching Andy and Jamie play a super doubles match, which they won in straight sets.

A bit of a sore throat developing. I feel a tad lack-lustre. Thankfully the weather is improving and we have much to look forward to.

Hugs all round. x
