I think that food was close by -that is why Grace opened her eyes briefly.

The sun is shining here but there is a nip in the air. I have just been to Wickes with the painter to choose paint for the kitchen. That work should be finished today and next Tuesday, probably by midnight I will have a new kitchen.

This house owning lark never finishes.

Tara spent the entire night with me last night and was not too fussed about getting up at 7am. She lounged around until 8am and then off outside to explore the great outdoors.

A cheery good afternoon to all our dear Kitcheners. I swear that our kitchen gets busier by the day. So much hustle and bustle and blethering. It's the one place that I know for certain will have a supportive ambience.

anno Only three visits to your "nice young dentist" I was miffed when I was told that a gold crown cost less than one made of porcelain. I would have preferred the latter (but couldn't afford it). My gold tooth flashes like a beacon in the sunlight. I'm not impressed. Far too showy!

Just on the theme of dentists, tomorrow my GD is going to the Dental Hospital in Manchester to have three veneers fitted to the teeth that never grew properly in the part of her jaw that was affected by her cleft. She had a bone graft and the teeth came through but did not grow. All this on the much maligned NHS.
This will be the last of her treatment which has lasted 17 years.
She has been offered more surgery to realign her bottom jaw but she has decided she is now happy with the way she looks and has called it a day on further treatment.
As you can imagine we are very proud of her.

I wonder if anybody could help me find my glasses? I took them off some time before my (late ) shower and hair wash and have looked everywhere. I am getting by on an old pair (surprisingly well) but remain perplexed. Problem is I have a habit of taking them off when reading small print and I had a pretty pathetic attempt at renewing my bus pass on line earlier. Lots of small print there.
Probably in the fridge.
Am I pregnant perhaps???

Phew! Found them down the back of the chair I was sitting in over an hour ago! Good thing I didn't sit ON them. Might need a bit of a lie down now.

Actually I could see BETTER through the old pair, at least for reading, but they are too loose and slip around.

soop I could take a photo of this converted cupboard called a kitchen (designed by a man who lived on takeaways methinks) next week but I have not got a clue how to convert it on to here. Technology passed me by.

Bill the painter is coming back at another time to do more jobs for me. I had no idea that I was going to spend quite so much money when I ordered the chairs and sofa. They will be arriving around the end of April.

Years ago, DH was fitted with a gold crown. After several days of pain, he found he was slightly allergic to gold and had to have it taken out again - so no flashing for him soop

Just on the subject of teeth - I have a gold crown on my charm bracelet.

I am totally dental phobic so even the mention of dental work makes me feel a bit queasy so hats off to you granddaughter Ann what a brave young woman .

Here it is chicken pox central , DGS3 has now recovered hence his trip swimming with us yesterday but in the space of walking to town this morning DGS4 has now got chicken pox.

His poor mummy is at her wits end. The boys have not been ill per se , just contagious ! Taking into account half term when both were well but the weather was rotten we are running into week 4 of two energetic - yet spotty- little boys having to stay home.

I am currently assembling a goodie bag for the little chap ( as is the custom in our family along with a card in the post !) His mum might need one too with in !!

Did you take up my recommendation of Poxclin? It really is magic and allied with Baby Piriton takes much of the pain and most of the itching out of CP.

I think that's why he escaped so lightly. The couple that will scar were pretty much out of reach so he probably knocked them getting dressed.

Ive just passed on that info to the pre school as obviously they are dropping like flies now :-)

Alea Given my tendency to leave a trail of my belongings behind me wherever I go I have varifocals so I never really need to take my glasses off in the day time.

I have been known to have to go and get my spare glasses from the car to help me find my usual pair.

NanaandGrampy Thank goodness that you live close enough to your grandchildren to be able to step in and give hands-on support. Best get the chicken pox over and done with as early as one can. You are a treasure. Much appreciated by your family. The goodie bag is a delightful and kind thought.

Oh Nelliem I'm so relieved to learn that I'm not the only slightly dippy Kitchener. I picked up some rubbish recently and disposed of it AND my hearing aid (which I also had in my hand) in the kitchen waste bin. Later, I searched high and low for the hearing aid. It took some long deliberation before I finally "twigged" and had to rummage through the bin.

I confess to having a "thing" about beautiful items of clothing. Today I had to take an enormous deep breath and remove a variety of "best" (mostly unworn) items from my wardrobe. I've spent an entire afternoon measuring and photographing and pricing just half a dozen for eBay. I also donate to the Red Cross shop in Campbeltown. I really need a pal who can spare a day to urge me ever onwards because I now realise that my life-style doesn't call for smart/posh/best clothing.

I'm happiest when I'm comfortable. Aren't we all...

We shall check out the care home tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing the ladies. I shall pop into our kitchen early afternoon.

Roofer made a start today, weather permitting, he`s coming back tomorrow.
Mia is not very patiently waiting for her tea. The second I take my glasses off, she`s there, walking round me and demanding very loudly. I don`t have to move, just take my specs off!

soop you have my sympathy. I'm really bad at getting rid of clothes I no longer wear but my wardrobe(s) are now so full that something's got to go. I had a purge on the wardrobe in the spare bedroom yesterday and removed several Zara blouses, very pretty and hardly worn but now skin tight a bit snug, especially the sleeves. Do Spanish women have skinny arms? They were collected by a local charity van this morning - well, I hope that's who took them. There are some villains around that pinch charity bags before they can be collected. I'm never going to be able to get rid of my mother-of-the bride outfit. It's absolutely beautiful but had to be taken in twice before the big day and there's no way it will ever fit me again....

Hi there soop and all visitors of this lovely cosy kitchen,its been such a while since I last popped in (due to constant pain after break to shoulder and arm) but I must boast and tell everyone about the safe arrival of our new baby GGD Sofia Rose who arrived in this world at 4.10am this morning parents are my DGS2 and his fiancee who just happens to be called Charlotte (just like me),as soon as I am comfortable in the use of this arm again I shall be posting much more often as I miss you all,I do read the updates every day to keep in touch with everything that is happening.
