Soop's kitchen extension

alea Grace has to get the lampshade into a good position so that she can have a good few undisturbed hours sleep. She is well used to it, a pity that she lets you down if you turn your back when you are kind enough to take the shade off.

It has been a bitterly cold day and the night is going to be colder- lovely.

I've just had an exhausting (but lovely) day with the DGC and thought I'd pop into the kitchen for a bit of relaxation and natter ...and I got lost. Glad I found you all eventually. Good news about your DH Alea. Can you ask Grace if I can borrow her lampshade when she's finished with it. It looks just the right size for my hall lamp

We had a bit of a runaround earlier but we are now very settled indeed. Rory was unsure whether we were moving or not so decided to have a few more hours sleep and everything was sorted when he opened an eye later.

No promises, but after the success of my new breadmaker - 2 wholemeal loaves and a mixed fruit teabread so far - I'm extending my repoirtoire to try a moist gingerbread. Successful or otherwise it will be delivered tomorrow

Alea, not only greyhounds like that position, Mia favours that method of relaxing as well, she looks so cute.........until someone mistakenly decides to tickle her belly, then she aint quite so cute, the claws come out!

Hello*soop*. Please have you got room in your new kitchen for another visitor, from 'down south'? I have been peeping in through the curtains and eaves dropping on you and your friends and I'd love to join in.
I've made a lemon drizzle cake as a kitchen-warming present. It's really sticky so you might need to eat it with a spoon.

Since all the discussion about sparrows the other day, I`ve been searching for, and finally found, this pic I took on Lindisfarne a couple of years ago. I was sitting on a bench, surrounded by cheeky, chattering sparrows, but this one was amongst them. Is it a sparrow? It looked like one, apart from it`s colouring.

There still seems to be an extra soop kitchen so I hope I'm in the right one.

As usual, I can't sleep. It has been a sad few days with the death of my sweet little dog, Max. The house feels so empty now. It is the first time in over twenty years that we have had no pet at all and, with DH having died nine months ago, the house is not the same.

Hopefully, when DD3 and I move into our new place next month, we can make a fresh start, but I need some time before allowing another furry friend into my heart. It's just so painful when they go. ?

I thought I'd have a peaceful day today so popped in to say hello to all of those in the kitchen and have a cuppa . Made the mistake of popping onto a new thread 'Helo' should have known by the bad spelling it would be a bad experience.

The pictures of various penis ( or should that be peni?) put me right off my cereal !!!

Oh Bellasnana I am so sorry to hear this and can imagine how you are feeling. I am sorry I hadn't realised. I too have wondered over the last 3 months of Grace's shenanigans plus a "back leg scare" she had shortly before that, whether I would put myself through it all again. You will know if and when the time is right.

numberplease think your bird could be an albino house sparrow. These are often reported as snow buntings. Whereabouts are you?

bellasnana I feel for you, only 3 weeks since we lost Torres (see soop's painting on previous kitchen thread), and we are still beating ourselves up worrying that we could have done more for him. Still have his bed in the bedroom and neither of the other dogs will go in it, it is Torres' bed to them. Life can be tough, you can come here though for guilt free cakes and wine.

Thought I would add to the pet theme. My D had her cats shipped yesterday and they reacted very well to the anaesthetic and were home by 1:30 having been left at 8am.
D said they were soon fully awake but staggering around like drunken teenagers. They just hate their collars and D said she has to keep a close eye on them to watch for depression!!! Timed have changed when we look for it in pets.
I have never seen them but D and GC ,both teens, are devoted to them.

I know just how you feel Bellasnana, they leave a large dog-shaped hole in your heart and life don't they

How timely a warning Alea. My GD was born with a very bad cleft lip and palate,it really was disfiguring. Over the years she has had 5ops and extensive orthodontic treatment and is on the last lap now. On March 4th she is having veneers fitted to 3 teeth which have never formed properly. I posted in July last year how the last op had made such a difference and had thought I might post before and after pictures when this final stage is done.This has made me say " no way". What sad and twisted people exist.

Bellasnana, that's so sad. I remember the cat earlier last year, who if I remember just didn't come back. You've had a very hard time, too many sad events. Hope this year things start to feel better. A cruise with a grans pal later I think? Things to look forward to.

Annsixty. 50 ops!! Goodness. But lovely that she has come so far.

Number, we do get an influx of continental sparrows but that would be in the winter. They look a bit different. Also there are hedge sparrows and tree sparrows, but rare now. I'd get really excited if I saw a house sparrow but no such luck.

soop I also missed your news about your lovely friend and neighbour. Rescuing some of his plants might be a nice way to remember him in the village and while he may not seem to appreciate what you are doing, then again he might. Like knowing a pet has gone to a good home, if you do love your garden it can be a comfort to know your plants will be lovingly tended.

Annsixty, I am wondering if kitty got a pic in a PM, presumably you could send a "group pm" to anybody you want us lot with a pic, and nobody else could see it.
It might be encouraging if anybody is in a similar position with a grandbaby.

bellanonna a "rampant member" is presumably like a regular member but very, very cross literally "on the rampage" as opposed to mildly annoyed
