I have a little gripe DH and I thought we would go out todo a little sale shopping we were very disappointed I am sure most of the stuff has been brought in from the cheep nasty pile they have stored away for sales the nice good quality clothes that had been there on Christmas eve had gone and all that seem to be left in there place was tat

You could be right, granniefinn, it could all be stuff that has been piling up unwanted at the back of the shop, but that is what a sale is - a way to get rid of what hadn't sold by reducing the price. If it was attractive enough for people to want it in the first place, it would have sold already.

A lot of shops use the sales instead to clear last years fashions to make way for newer designs. These are the ones where you get bargains, but you have to know the shop, and be quick.

No. I've just received this in the post from Plumo - I've had my eye on it for a while and I'm delighted with it smile

Yesterday I popped into the M & S Outlet to pass a half hour before going to the cinema about 100 yards distant.

Wonderful. I got a knee length coat from the M & S Speziale range. It is wool, angora, silk and polyester, like a fine boucle. Beautiful stretch lining with two long inner pockets suitable for phone. All the seams have a taped finish. The colour is called Blush, it's a pinky/browny tone and will go with black, brown, navy, dress up or dress down. Very plain design, narrow lapels on a V front, hidden fastening, light as a feather and fits excellently on the shoulders.
The original store label was £149, I got it for £29.

Also a 100% cotton ankle length nightie from their La Maison de Sentaurs range labelled at £25 and on sale at £3.99. Bought one also for my friend.

I just love a real sale.

We've only got a M&S Food ........

How lovely to be able to 'pop in' to somewhere like that!

rosequartz Sat 02-Jan-16 18:26:04

ninathenana Sat 02-Jan-16 18:34:47

We haven't even got M&S food sad nearest is 40 min drive.
DH bought me a black wool coat for Christmas I hope I get to wear it this year.

janeainsworth Sat 02-Jan-16 18:55:17

Haha Roseq grin
I'm off to the States next week to see DS and family so hoping to put it to good use then.
Coolgran yours sounds lovely!

Coolgran65 Sat 02-Jan-16 19:40:25

rosequartz I looked on line also and couldn't find the coat or the nightie, I guess they are in clearance because there's just a few left.

I'll try and upload pics. My coat is so much nicer on, both the colour and style. I wore it today with black straight jeans, taupe scarf and taupe block heeled ankle boots.

rosequartz Sat 02-Jan-16 20:09:43

My coat is so much nicer on, both the colour and style
Just rub it in Coolgran65 grin

I am sure both will look lovely on you

You buy stuff from Plumo jane???!!! My DD ad I often ask, when the catalogue comes through, "Who on earth buys thus stuff? - it is SO expensive!!" Now I know! smile

granniefinn Sat 02-Jan-16 20:14:23

Loving the coat very trendy will have to go line to have a look and maybe bag a bargain

Coolgran65 Sat 02-Jan-16 20:27:42

granniefinn if it is my coat you are talking about, I couldn't find it on line and think it was just a few that were left and sent to the M & S Outlet Clearance. I never see them cheap enough on line even in their Sales/Clearance sections.

Coolgran65 Sat 02-Jan-16 20:29:39

rosequartz .... only rubbing it in just a little bit wink

rosequartz Sat 02-Jan-16 20:48:08

I just looked at the Plumo site - pompom hat reduced to £35.

Time to get off here and find my knitting needles .....

janeainsworth Sat 02-Jan-16 21:26:51

Yes Luckygirl a lot of the things are ridiculously expensive, but some are not.
I only buy things in the sale too.

petallus Sat 02-Jan-16 23:00:07

Well janeainsworth I was wondering whether to go for a year of not buying clothes but now you have introduced me to Plumo, fat chance!

I am wondering whether to send for their owl socks. I do like that coat you have.

janeainsworth Sun 03-Jan-16 09:24:08

They do have some unusual stuff petallus smile

Gaggi3 Sun 03-Jan-16 09:30:30

DH got a Liberty shirt half-price, full-price is ridiculous, but that was before Christmas.

ajanela Sun 03-Jan-16 09:48:29

I use to buy lots of clothes in East's Sale. I was always popping in to my local shop to try things as they had great bargains. They closed 6 weeks ago to be replaced by a card shop. I am bereft, even wrote to the head office and local council. I find it difficult to buy online as by trying things on I discovered items I would not normally have considered.

I also bought 2 pairs of trousers in M & S sale which were great bargains, but one pair was marked short and were just long enough for medium. I think I buy nearly all my shoes in Clarks sale.

But I agree at Sale time they bring out a lot of tat.

I wait for the sales to buy wool jumpers and have had some really fabulous ones from both John Lewis and Debenhams. mostly half price and once a Windsmoor long navy jumper for £19 and the label said £99! these two online stores are also very good for bed linen and towels.
