Do shops only sell rubbish in there sales

I only buy in the sales too but for the last few years I have found almost everything I picked in the next sale had a waiting time of 6 to 12 weeks I presume they are making them for the sale. I usually get my shoes in Clarks sale except for Orla kiely it's not always a good idea to wait for the sale for those. I bought a a gorgeous gold and blue sparkly pair but got a bad mark on them can't get it off. I have been quoted £65.00 to dye them I am not sure it will work as everyone has had a go getting it out and now it's worse I am heartbroken they sold out in the first four weeks. I also got some fantastic jumpers in marks in November I was looking for something else and up popped their cashmere jumpers at half price they sold out in minutes. I am to see if marks has an online outlet. Clarks outlet is online I have just found it and of course trawling eBay for my beautiful Abigail shoes. By the way does anyone have an opinion on dyeing shoes if it's a good idea or not? I am not sure.

I buy all of the year round from a site named 'Just last season.' I find Eastex is always the right fit for me but there are many good makes on there at a lot less than shop prices and they do accept returns.

I agree some Christmas deals are a 'con.'
I decided to look in the sales for a Panasonic TZ60 camera. After researching on the Net, I found a shop in Watford selling them for £189. Panasonic are giving a £40 refund until 25th January making it only £149 - a tremendous bargain.
Before buying though I thought I would try my famous high street dealer. On their card it read ' Price - £179. That's good thought and then in small print it read, You pay us £219 and Panasonic repay you £40.
So it wasn't a true reduction by them at all.
So then I asked if they 'price matched' and was told they did. I showed the salesman a copy of the individual shop (not eBay) who would sell me the same camera for £189 with the £40 refund making it £149.
He produced a leaflet that stated they do price match but only with a list of other High Street Department stores Is this a cartel, I ask?
Needless to say, I have ordered the camera from the shop in Watford.

Here's another! I want a new ironing board and so looked in Argos's sale leaflet.
Minky reduced from £29. 99 to £23.99 (cat.no. 408/4479)
and then in small print,' This item has previously been sold for £14.99.
How can this be a reduction then. The price has increased by£9.
My advice is always read the small print before buying.

Went on the Joe Brown sight got lovely boots and a coat can't wait to get them in the post deft got my bargains as I was looking at them in a shop before Christmas tried them on then so they should fit

Hi granniefinn I might just try to everyone thought they could get the out and have made it worse. I bought some dye yesterday but it's not the right colour but I can't make it any worse . I will go back tomorrow and try for a better match. I spent weeks and weeks trawling through all the websites that sell Orla kiely looking for a returned pair maybe I just wasn't meant to have them thanks for the advice I will come back and let you know how I got on.

Oh I love Joe Brown but I thought I was too old it I have just changed my mind Marks and Spencer don't have an outlet website I thought they had one in past but I am going to check Joe Brown now.

I've had loads of bargains! On line shopping at House of Fraser and in store Tkmax. I have to confess that I buy all next years gifts in the sales, all done for next Christmas ( except close family) at very small cost. It's wrapped and packed away till next December.

only did the online sale and got some bargains from John Lewis new duvet etc), Paperchase (wrapping paper) and M&S (clothes). Otherwise not many bargains to be had really....

The horrendous weather stopped me from getting to the sales at all. I'm not bereft. Online it all looked like tack.

Mary294 what about dying both of your shoes, the full pair, not just trying to cover the stain.
I have done this successfully in the past. Just make sure to follow the instructions fully.

I got a really nice red, brown and black patterned cardigan in the M7S sale. A real statement piece It was reduced from £59 to £18 and I got staff discount on top of that!

Thanks Coolgran65 the stuff I got from the repair shop is paint on is that the sort you've used yourself. I am also worried that if I give it to them they might mess them up anyway. If I do it myself and do both I have to worry about the shade so much I had no idea there were so many shades of gold

Are your shoes leather? Only leather will dye successfully.
I've only ever dyed to navy etc not a gold......making sure there is no polish or grease on the leather, and using very thin coats of dye.

Hi Coolgran65 I have just put a reply on here and it's disappeared into thin air anyway yes they are leather they're Clarks Orla kiely they're dark blue and gold the blue is sparkly as well. The dye I got from the repair shop was thick and gungy it took a good hour to mix it I think I will buy another from Amazon or somewhere like that. Did you use brush on or spray paint? I Haven't polished them yet only wore them twice this dye has a primer with it to clean the leather first thanks again for your help

I think I got the dye in a shoe shop, maybe even Clarks. It was definitely not gungy, something not right there, old stock.....??
I used the brush that comes with the dye. The dye liquid was quite thin and easy to brush on. Very important to use the primer. I wonder about the dye covering the sparkles but you have nothing to lose.
Wear surgical gloves

I used Dylon shoe dye and used white spirit as a primer. It took a couple of coats of dye a d then a good polish.

I am definitely going to buy new dye and go for it I have nothing to lose I will get dylon its a well known established brand I won't go back to shoe repair shop get from Amazon or John Lewis get better quality from them. I will come back and let you know how I got on. I waited for the sale for these and had sold out so I spent weeks trawling the websites that sell Orla kiely several times a day trying to get them in my size I eventually found them on Very I was so excited I couldn't get the sale to go through. I had to phone them and do it over the phone. I know it sounds frivolous but I just love them and all other 60s and 70s around at the moment. Some good online bargains in John Lewis women's knits - ordered a sweater and have my eye on some more stuff should it drop further (well, I can always hope!). Best bargain is fake fur Cossack hat for £21 reduced from £70. Can't wait for it to arrive - it will keep me cosy at the allotment! Also have some cheerful stripey socks for OH - he's agreed to chuck out some of the worst of his (really dreadful!) old ones when they arrive.

Other great places for good buys in online sales are Wall, Pure Collection, and Sahara. Have had some full price stuff from Sahara for special (eg daughter's wedding) but mostly just buy in the sales.

For shoes I like Kate Kuba or H by Hudson. I know my size for their shoes, so know they will fit.

I do just about all my clothes shopping online as I'm disabled, so it's very difficult to get to the shops, and even if I do it's a big hassle trying stuff on! At home when stuff arrives I get a bath and have clean undies before trying stuff on, so that I know it'll be fit to send back if I need to. Or is that TMI!

I'm now off to take a look at the other places you've mentioned. But will try to restrain myself!
