I'm sat here with a cuppa and mince-pie, the rain is belting down outside. and I got to thinking about you lovely people, wondering where you all live. (I,ve finished the chores for today)
Some of you ladies will know each other very well, however I'm fairly new to Gransnet, so if you have two minutes talk to me from wherever you are. I live in a small village near Thirsk in North Yorkshire with my DH and Molly our Cairn Terrier. Our Daughters and GC are near bye in York. Originally from Alnwick but been here for 15 years and love the folks and the area.

Hi- Alnwick is one of those places I dream to visit one day- well the whole of the NE coast. I live in the Jura mountains of Switzerland, on the French border- quite close to where I was born and bred. I lived all my adult life in the UK, several locations in London, then Staffs and then 34 years in East Leicester. Now back in the Jura mountains for retirement, with British DH. DDs and GCs still in the UK, Surrey and Warcks.

Hello Kupari. I live in Boston, Lincs, but only for the last just over 38 years, before that we lived in Heywood, Gtr. Manchester, but I was actually born and lived my first 13 years in Elsecar, nr. Barnsley, S. Yorkshire.
Our eldest daughter lives with us, but the other 4 children and their spouses and children all live within a 5 mile radius of us.
Thirsk featured in a vets programme recently on Channel 5, it looks a nice little town.

Hello Kupari I lived up there in your neck of the woods but over in Wensleydale for a time now I'm here in Melton Mowbray but originally from east London and Essex. I'm often up in N Yorkshire which I love and I watch all the re-runs of All Creatures Great and Small.

Hello Kupari.

For the past 27 years my husband and I have lived in East London, not far from the Epping Forest area, which has miles and miles of forestland and meadow, all accessible to the public. I was born in Clapham London and have lived in Wembley, and Romford and Colchester in Essex, and Suffolk, West Sussex and Lancashire.

I enjoy living in London because there are so many interesting things to do and see and the transport system is very good, but I'm also particularly fond of West (and East) Sussex.

We have a son and a daughter and three grandchildren - 22, 3 and 5. They all live nearby.

Hope you continue to enjoy Gransnet.

HelloKupari tchsmile. I live in Fife, in a small-ish village. I have 3 adult granddaughters and a great-grandson, who all live within a short distance. Nice to meet you.

Hello kupari. I live in a small town of about 4000 people in the Tyne valley in Northumberland. We are only about two miles from Hadrian's Wall. I was born and brought up in north Cumbria, near Carlisle, only about eleven miles from here.

I am originally from Fife- came to London in 1968 for a year, got married and have been in London ever since, now living in NW London. It has been a long year!

Indinana Fri 04-Dec-15 17:53:02

Hello Kupari
I've lived in Plymouth for the last 38 years. I was born in East London, Hackney Hospital to be precise, and moved from there to Hutton, in Essex, then on to Rayleigh, before getting married and moving to a small village in East Essex, not far from Maldon. Then the big move down to Devon when our children were very young.
I never expected to stay here, but somehow we just put down roots. And of course, the children grew up here, put down their own roots, so it soon became obvious that moving back East was not an option!
Those children are now in their 40's and have provided us with 2 grandsons and a granddaughter between them smile.

ninathenana Fri 04-Dec-15 18:35:44

Hi, I have lived in the same fairly small seaside town in Kent all my life. I'd love to move but DH is a London boy and loves it here.
We have two children and two grandsons.

What an interesting post, not least because I can relate to many of the areas you're living as I travelled all over the UK for work.

I'm currently lving in north Cheshire. My only daughter and family live in southern Spain, so they're quite a long way from here, but I'm on a flight there on Tuesday. Can't wait.

granjura - the Jura is one of my favourite places on earth. Perhaps another thread about favourite places would be interesting too!

Hi Kupari. I'm from the South Wales Valleys, but lived and worked all over. My family on my mother's side is from Blyth, Northumberland. I've always wanted to visit Alnwick, as it's got a reputation for being a great place to live.

Hello Kupari
I'm fairly new to GN too but seem to be spending more and more time each day checking out the new threads. I am originally from Gloucestershire but have lived in York since I came here as a student in 1965. My DS and family live close by but DD and SiL live in Fife. Dad's family were from Berwick upon Tweed and we have spent many recent caravan holidays in Northumberland near Alnwick - so many castles and beautiful scenery. I would love to meet other Gransnetters for coffee and a chat.
I am very interested in politics but wouldn't dare post my opinions on political threads for fear of being shot down in flames .

Hi. I am originally from SW London but 3 years ago moved to just outside Bath. I have 4 children. 2 live in Surrey, one in Manchester and my son in Bristol. I have 6 grandchildren and they are all coming for Christmas! It would be good to meet up with anyone in the Bath area. smile
