Nothing.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 13-May-15 22:08:28

That the economy will continue to slowly recover.

Mishap Wed 13-May-15 22:09:27

And that the benefits will trickle down to all the poor and disadvantaged before they die of old age.

Penstemmon Wed 13-May-15 22:33:30

That it gives a few years space for the left to reflect, regroup, rise and win the next election grin

GrannyTwice Wed 13-May-15 22:41:03

That honeymoons don't last for ever

merlotgran Wed 13-May-15 22:41:41

That when all the Tory bashing threads on Gransnet have run out of steam we'll talk about something else?

petra Wed 13-May-15 22:43:55

A Re wrighting of the HR act so that a murderer, rapist who came to this country illegally, got himself a cat and is given leave to stay.

Ana Wed 13-May-15 22:46:27

That could take a long time, merlot! (about 5 years?)

Mind you, if Labour had won the triumphal threads would probably have gone on for that long too...

Ana Wed 13-May-15 22:47:36

I thought we already had that Act, petra confused

merlotgran Wed 13-May-15 22:47:48

Ah but would the Tory 'losers' have gone on and on and on about it?

Ana Wed 13-May-15 22:51:03

Of course not. Bite the bullet and be stoical about it merlot! grin

GrannyTwice Wed 13-May-15 23:04:39

Petra <sigh> do you really still believe that story?

GrannyTwice Wed 13-May-15 23:06:45

GrannyTwice Wed 13-May-15 23:09:47

And Petra you should be careful about calling someone a murderer and a rapist especially when he was a student who had only overstayed his visa

Penstemmon Wed 13-May-15 23:33:54

The trouble is that many people don't have the time (or sometimes inclination) to read /research widely enough to clarify facts or to challenge their prejudices. I know that I can take things at face value in the media sometimes and get the wrong information. And let's be honest there is more right of centre controlled media pumping out the 'news' than left of centre. The Morning Star is the one newspaper with a really alternative perspective to mainstream and that is not in many newsagents just to pick up and browse! Media is extremely powerful and although we like to think we are not influenced by it I believe we all are!

GrannyTwice Wed 13-May-15 23:36:57

And that's why referenda are scary!

durhamjen Wed 13-May-15 23:37:52

Optimistic that Cameron will not be PM in five years time.

GrannyTwice Wed 13-May-15 23:43:11

Well that's a given - he'll have to go before 2020 to give Boris the chance to settle in before the GE

Soutra Wed 13-May-15 23:53:55

Definitely better weather, or possibly worse.

kittylester Thu 14-May-15 07:05:13

Soutra grin

That after 10 years the Conservatives will finally take responsibility for what they have done /will do and not blame the last Labour government or the fact that the coalition "didn't let them".

mollie65 Thu 14-May-15 08:11:29

please please please can we stop the left-leaners whinging incessantly and constantly shock posting links to rabid articles in the leftist papers and blogs that lots of us do not want to read
it is massively boring and I have been ignoring the previous threads only for the posters to pop up on this thread like a persistant irritant.
I am optimistic that they will do something about the welfare system we cannot afford without hurting those who are really in need (unselfish mode on)
I am optimistic because we have escaped 5 years of Ed Milliband in charge
I am optimistic because I hope we have a referendum on the EU
and finally I am optimistic that Scotland will be given the independence we are ALL hoping for

absent Thu 14-May-15 08:17:24

Incessantly whinging?
Rabid?
Scottish independence "we are All hoping for"?

thatbags Thu 14-May-15 08:38:06

That being PC rather than really thinking about stuff will go out of fashion.

That people will come to understand what freedom of speech actually means.

I think there's more of a chance of these things coming to pass under a Tory government than under the Labour Party as led by EM.

I've never voted Tory btw but Tony Blair and Ed Miliband wrecked Labour for me.
