thatbags Tue 06-Jan-15 09:39:59

Put, not out.

Sigh! I keep doing that.

Don't tell anyone in Pedants' Corner that I wrote "turned out good"! They'll have my guts for garters!! grin

Charleygirl Tue 06-Jan-15 09:46:38

thatbags they should stay out of soop's kitchen if they cannot be mildly pleasant about your grammar. We understood what you meant, that is all that matters.

whenim64 Tue 06-Jan-15 10:37:12

Ive just put some flapjacks in the oven, Bags, inspired by your idea about using up jam. Mine have got the remaining 1/3 of a jar of mincemeat, some stewed apple and peanut butter with raisins and chopped nuts. Looking good so far.

Kitty a belated Happy Birthday. I hope you enjoyed your day flowers

Gagagran Tue 06-Jan-15 11:02:38

I have good news! The catwoman (another of DH's names for her) has just been and has approved us as adopters! I have an appointment to go to the Rescue Centre on Friday afternoon and will be able to bring home our new furry friend(s). The Mum and daughter I fell for in the online gallery are still available so fingers crossed they still are when we go! Yipee!

Agus Tue 06-Jan-15 11:32:16

That is good news Gagagran. How lovely for Mum and daughter to be able to stay together in a loving new home. Of course they will be there waiting for you on Friday. So excited for you. Let us know how your girls settle in.

Charleygirl Tue 06-Jan-15 12:32:18

Gagagran can you not "reserve* the mother and daughter chosen by you? No harm in asking.

Agus Tue 06-Jan-15 12:43:45

I was wondering the same Charley

Gagagran Tue 06-Jan-15 14:16:44

Yes I have asked them to save the pair and I don't think there is a problem, it's just me doing what DH says "Don't build up too much or you might be disappointed". He has got the cat bed out of the garage and the litter tray too though so I don't think it's just me!

DD has rung for the result of the "visit" and plans to come on Saturday to meet them and DGD will def. come too. She has appointed herself their carer in our absence. It's all very exciting. smile

soop Tue 06-Jan-15 14:27:05

Gaga You have made my day. Or should I say that the catwoman has made our day. I have been thinking of you ALL morning. I told my pal that you were a trifle nervous that you may be turned down...I'm seeing her this evening and she also will be delighted for you. I agree with Charleygirl...nothing ventured...*MacSporran and I want to know all the details when you've collected your new furry friend(s). Photo please. I'm thrilled. flowers

That bags has really started something. The kitchen has a vast array of home-made flapjacks and delightful home-baked goodies for the sampling of. I did quite well with my diet yesterday. I'm already struggling. There is a party to attend later. hmm Perhaps it would be best to start in earnest tomorrow. blush

I hope that you enjoyed your birthday dear kitty. x

loopylou Tue 06-Jan-15 14:29:06

Brilliant Gagagran, you'll soon both be the servants to 2 felines grin!
Men not good at pretending not interested, of course he is....

soop Tue 06-Jan-15 14:40:02

janer Do you know whether or not you've been suffering with novavirus. ? spelling. I have heard that a number of people have had awful sickness and worse over the new year.

Note to bags It's a rule that grammar in our kitchen doesn't need to be perfect. Us lot here abouts say it as it is/was/maybe. Nuffin' wrong with that. grin

thatbags Tue 06-Jan-15 14:48:18

Lovely news, gaga! I'm really pleased for you and have crossed as many fingers and toes as I can without injury wink. Hope all goes well and, yes, please post a photo or two in due course.

I'm just having a wee collapse in here after a busy morning and then I need to parcel up some stuff I sold from my Etsy shop that I only opened a few days ago and which I only told people about today. Nice to have got it started. I'll have to be disciplined at getting stuff made.

soop Tue 06-Jan-15 14:54:31

I'm thrilled to hear of your latest venture, bags. You have enormous talent. All good wishes for well deserved success. [flower]

soop Tue 06-Jan-15 14:54:51

flowers flowers flowers

Agus Tue 06-Jan-15 15:33:57

I'll have a collapse with you bags. I have just finished polishing some furniture with bees wax and lavender. Now I'm jiggered!

All the best in your new venture. Good start you have sold some stuff already.

soop Tue 06-Jan-15 16:26:00

Agus add me to the jiggered list. I had 3 hours and 15 mins of non-stop ironing to do for my pal this morning. I felt fine...until I eventually sat down. It was then that my lower back decided to make a serious complaint. Hey ho! We've a party to attend this evening. I fully intend being in the mood, as we'll kick off with Champagne. Thankfully, MacSporran won't need to drive. Friends (one being teetotal) will be passing our door. We therefore have a lift.

The wind is picking up and the sea is very much livelier. Rory is fast asleep on my best tartan rug, in my best chair. Last night, Rory sat at the foot of my chair and gave me such a long, withering stare...I got up and without as much as a by your leave, he leapt up and took over. I sat beside MacSporran who wore a funny, quirky grin on his face. hmm

Okey dokey...time to log off and catch up with a few jobs. Until we meet again in the morrow, enjoy your evening. smile moon

Brendawymms Tue 06-Jan-15 16:27:38

I hope I can get some tea and cake here! My gob has never been so smacked. It's an Eassex expression as sort of " I don't believe it " well got thank you letter from elder sister today in which she thanks me, just about for sending wine she doesn't drink as she only drinks white, bbut also for the notepad in the " plastic" cover. The notepad in question was very expensive from Libertys and has a lovely pale blue thick leather cover. Perhaps I need several glasses of [ wine] to recover.

Brendawymms Tue 06-Jan-15 16:28:23

wine even.

Agus Tue 06-Jan-15 16:45:04

I hope you have your feet up for a while before party time soop. Champers is great for dulling pain though grin enjoy

No wonder you were gobsmacked Brenda after what she said about your gift. You obviously have better taste than your sister, plastic indeed!

Just ignore it. wine Slàinte

janerowena Tue 06-Jan-15 23:47:33

Thanks for the link, bags. Right up his street. Yes norovirus, I am a lot better today but tired with a vile cough. I did manage to eat chicken and a few chips. On the plus side I can pull my trousers down without undoing the zip!

kittylester Wed 07-Jan-15 07:22:33

Thank you for your good wishes, I had a 'nice' birthday thank you! Some thoughtful presents, lots of cards and phone calls! And I went to see mum!

Brenda - how rude - has your sister always been like that? flowers

Good luck with your new venture bags - are we allowed a link?

soop, hope you enjoyed your party and that your head is not too bad! grin

I wonder how Bella is?

Purpledaffodil Wed 07-Jan-15 07:26:41

Soop!! Three hours and fifteen minutes ironing! What on earth did that consist of? I am mocked by my family for ironing bed linen and PJs, but even I could not notch that time up. No wonder your poor back protested. When I was pregnant ( many, many moons ago) I used to iron sitting down. Could that work for your back? flowers

Lona Wed 07-Jan-15 08:32:00

Hello, I've not been in here for a day or so, I got carried away with my 'Little Henry' and did some housework! What a shame it has to be done more than once a year wink

Gaga Of course the cat lady approved you, I can feel your excitement.
janerowena I hope your recovery continues, that's not a good diet really.

Brenda Your sister makes me very cross, I would want to send her the receipt for the Liberty notepad, and tell her to get it changed! Then never send her another gift! Grrr!

soop I used to do ironing for a couple of people but I don't know how you manage to do it for so long, I couldn't do it now.

I too hope things are well with Bella

loopylou Wed 07-Jan-15 08:38:51

Brenda that is so incredibly rude! Clearly doesn't deserve you as a sister.
My sister, was incredibly snobbish and rich, always turned her nose up at anything I gave her; when told me she just took my gifts straight to the charity shop I said I'd save her the bother and in future donate directly to my chosen charity grin
Changed her stance once her exDH spent all the money on flash cars, booze and b.....d off, leaving her penniless though.
