annodomini Mon 05-Jan-15 11:31:41

AlieO, I think we are around the same age, so I feel old even tho' not yet a great-granny!
Charley, dinnae fash yersel, I wouldn't dream of buying privately as I know a very good dealer not far away from whom I have previously had two very good cars. Probably will not go out today as I have acquired a cold from my very kind sister and I want to be fit to go to Rome with DS2 a week today.

Agus Mon 05-Jan-15 12:28:11

I changed cars about 18mths ago and GD2 tells me she likes my new car but she still misses Freda smile

soop Mon 05-Jan-15 12:31:01

Good early afternoon dear kitcheners I like the name Diggory, bags I'm almost certain that a boy at one of my son's schools, had the same name.

I drove a Citroen for a wee while. It always put me in mind of a frog. It was comfortable to drive but there was something not quite right with the gears. Cannot recall what that was.

My Mini - Mo, remains my favourite. She was scarlet...and nippy...and dead easy to park on a postage stamp. wink

We shall put away the Xmas decorations this afternoon. The perfect excuse to get behind the sofa and have a right royal dust-up. Tomorrow I shall be catching up with my pal's ironing. In the evening, we'll be celebrating her husband's birthday, which is always a time for some fun and games such as Charades.

soop Mon 05-Jan-15 12:34:28

HAPPY birthday dear kitty I send flowers sunshine wine cupcake and a hug.

Agus Mon 05-Jan-15 12:34:44

It was a column gearstick in Citroens soop. Came out from the dashboard as opposed to the well between front seats. Mine was called DeeDee.

thatbags Mon 05-Jan-15 13:43:39

Thought peeps might like this twitpic of someone's old car

Agus Mon 05-Jan-15 13:56:20

Love it bags. A neighbour in France had a 2CV planted up. It looked fabulous. People used to stop and take a photo', myself included smile

soop Mon 05-Jan-15 14:05:45

That is a brilliant pic. Thanks bags it made me chuckle. Very creative...and totally original.

And NOW I really MUST do some boxing-up of the Christmas decorations. grin

Charleygirl Mon 05-Jan-15 14:24:05

anno I did not mean buying privately but selling that route. It is so much easier, I think, buying from a dealer.

My little car is going off on Wednesday to have parking sensors fitted. I had them on my old car for 12+ years and I am so used to them now.

thatbags Mon 05-Jan-15 15:21:49

Tray of flapjack, folks. Don't eat them all before soop gets back! I used apricot jam instead of honey in the recipe this time because the jam needed using up.

whenim64 Mon 05-Jan-15 15:24:38

Oh, what a good idea, Bags. Great tip!

granjura Mon 05-Jan-15 15:42:28

Kitty, my mum always had 2CVs, ever since the 50s- and my first car, when we lived in Staffs, was a blue Dianne- Loved it. I then had a green and then a red, 2CV. When I worked at the school not far from you- I had to push it along our long drive, then across the road and down the hill, and jump in just in time for it to start. When it failed to do so, twice the same week- and I had to get to L. by bus, via the town centre and got there just in time for lunch- I just had to give it up- but it was a very sad day.

Crafting Mon 05-Jan-15 15:45:50

Happy birthday from me too kitty. I see Soop has already provided you with cake and flowers etc but in my opinion you can never have too much cupcake so have some from me too. Hope you have a lovely day.

annodomini Mon 05-Jan-15 15:46:58

Ah, Charley, I'm with you on that.

soop Mon 05-Jan-15 17:35:14

Is that the tempting aroma of flapjacks wafting on the late afternoon air grin...Thank you, bags you've persuaded me to call a halt to trawling through my extensive memory bank. Thousands of photos on the pooter. I really do need to start printing a number of our favourites. Although it will be time-consuming, I shall have some super images ready to put into another new album. We seem to have got a bit slack recently. Such a shame.

granjura Such a lovely story. I can see you in my mind's eye. Respect! Oodles of it.

Charleygirl parking sensors are a bonus. Of course MacSporran hardly ever needs assistance with parking. On the other hand...blush shock confused I'm okay, providing there is a street between me and the next parked car.

soop Mon 05-Jan-15 17:37:49

Thank you for your company. Now I must log orf and attend to the pussy cats. I shall return tomorrow afternoon. Ironing for my pal all morning. I'm a devil for punishment. moon

Crafting Mon 05-Jan-15 17:43:04

Flapjacks! Where are they? Don't tell me you've scoffed eaten them all Soop . Oh, there they are. Delicious. Thank you baggs. Bang goes the post Christmas diet blush

loopylou Mon 05-Jan-15 17:46:58

Apricot instead of honey, yum, yum! Thank you baggs (and b....r the toothache!)

janerowena Mon 05-Jan-15 18:49:22

I am starting to feel better be sick less often thank you, trying out a satsuma was my undoing today but I so craved one...

I would love to know how a move from Cornwall to Scotland came about, was that MacSporran's doing? Or are you too a native?

Icyalittle Mon 05-Jan-15 21:56:57

Hello, hello, hello everyone, and Happy New Year! I've been really busy, and then I found I'd lost you, if you know what I mean. I've made lovely lemony almondy cake, and brought mulled wine, if you will all forgive my absence? Just catching up - so sorry you've been ill, janerowena. thatbags, love the apricot flapjacks.

Icyalittle Mon 05-Jan-15 21:58:48

Sorry kitty I meant to add a Happy Birthday too.

janerowena Mon 05-Jan-15 23:05:13

Oh dear - Happy Birthday Kitty! It's a shame there isn't a birthday notice at the top of the page every day, isn't it.

DBH likes the sound of the apricot flapjacks. I make flapjacks for him every week, that sounds like a nice change. Currently mincemeat flapjacks.

kittylester Tue 06-Jan-15 05:05:31

Good morning, it's quiet in here! Thank you all for the birthday wishes - DD made me a lemon sponge so I've brought some with me - I know it's a bit early for cake, but never mind!

I agree jane a birthday notification 'bit' would be good! hope you feel better today. flowers

I've been awake since 3.30 - expecting to get a phone call from Mum's home as she was not with it at all yesterday. The Senior had called the GP because they though she was looking a bit yellow (which was hard for me to spot!). The GP wants some blood tests which I thought were unnecessary but I was overruled by my brothers. Apparently, Mum didn't flirt with the GP confused

harrigran Tue 06-Jan-15 06:58:49

Been awake since 5am so in the study tidying up and reading mail, hope all is well kitty.

thatbags Tue 06-Jan-15 09:38:58

janer, the recipe for my flapjacks is here: nutty, seedy flapjack. Sometimes I out chopped, dried apricots in but yesterday I substituted apricot jam for the honey. Turned out good smile.
