Is it too early to put the t.v. on?

When I first retired I made it a rule not to put the t.v on until the evening. Now is goes on late afternoon but for some reason I look at the clock to make sure it is not 'too early' before I switch on. Do others set these silly rules for themselves.

I might start listening to her again. At least I would get a bit more physical activity. I think housework is a good form of exercise. Probably uses more muscle groups than walking.

As long as you don't tell everyone else that they are doing it wrong, there is nothing wrong with doing things as you want to.

I think I have a real hang up about sitting down to watch TV during the day as it didn't happen when I was a child. My Mum never seemed to sit down and told us so regularly.

My Nan, on the other hand, always had '5 minutes' after lunch when no noise was allowed under any circumstances. Though she would have been really old when I remember that happening, probably about 65! grin

littleflo; neurotic and psychotic. neurotic means you know you're bonkers and psychotic means you're bonkers but don't realise it. The fact that we worry about ourselves is strangely reassuring smile...

ethel

It was Mishap who mentioned snobbery in her post Thu 04-Sep-14 17:55:10 - good post actually.

If there wasn't a perceived acceptable time for switching on the tv, why would the OP have asked?

'Hair shirt Brigade' springs to mind with a lot of these posts. I have a TV in the bathroom, and shock horror I watch it IN THE MORNING while having a bath. And no, I'm not a lazy Neanderthal. You can watch daytime TV and still have a brain. I think there's definitely a snobbish element to some of these threads.
'fraid I won't be able to reply to some of the flack that's coming my way as I have to get back to papering the bedroom ceiling.
