I thought that we had already reached the 1000 messages. Maybe we haven't. Anyway...for when we do, here's the new extension. I'm making it warm and cosy and there are date slices to be enjoyed. Rory has claimed his corner of the sofa. wink

What a torrid time they're having - not helped by each worrying about the other I bet. I do hope Soop gets home soon and MrSoop isn't tooo ill.

annodomini Sun 08-Dec-13 21:43:14

Best love to soop and mr soop when you're next in touch, Bags. I hope our vibes are reaching them.

Soutra Sun 08-Dec-13 22:16:26

Oh dear - that sort of journey is bad enough at the best of times let alone December, I do hope mr S can stay over in Oban and that neighbours will look after Rory. He is going to wear himself out otherwise and he needs to stay strong for when soop is home again. I used to do it to London (about 120 miles) there and back and I was knackered so we agreed I should only go every other day but when a person is ill you want and need to be there for them don't you. tchsad

Thank you for the update bags. I do hope they both feel better soon. It's a worry flowers

Marelli Mon 09-Dec-13 08:53:53

Thank you bags. Without you passing on the updates we wouldn't know how things were, and soop and Mr Soop wouldn't be receiving our best wishes. flowers.

What an awful round trip for Mr. Soop. I shudder when I have to do Addenbrookes and that's only 20 miles each way.

My best wishes to the Soops and I hope this awful ordeal for them both is over soon and they can enjoy Christmas. tchsmile

Get Well Soon, Soop

I've been unwell for a couple of days so I've only just caught up with the news that soop is in hospital. I hope that she is on the way to recovery now and will be feeling better soon.
Hope it is nothing serious with Mr soop, he must be tired out with all the travelling and worrying about soop

Ariadne Mon 09-Dec-13 12:08:47

Thank you, bags for keeping us up to date. Poor soops! Hope they both recover quickly. Once more, my love to them both.

The carriage and all its horse(power)s were available today to we trotted off to Oban for the day to check up on Our Soop. This had the advantage of giving Mr Soop's horsepowers a day off. Soop is still having horrendous coughing bouts, made worse because they send shooting pains down her left arm (the left lung is the one most affected), but she was really quite chatty which was great to see. She was 'nebulised' for a few minutes while I was there and I believe the doc has changed her antibiotic again since I left.

I just got home a short while ago and texted her to let her know. She replied that she's looking forward to some treacle sponge and custard. That's a good sign too as she had completely lost her appetite for food. I think she may have 'turned the corner'. I certainly hope so.

She said I've to tell "that lot in the kitchen" not to let Rory sit on her new tartan rug. He has his own and he's not to appropriate hers as well. She wants it all ready and waiting for when she gets home.

So keep zapping those healing vibes up to Oban. It's working by boosting her morale no end smile. And she thanks you all a thousand times.

Thatbags - so glad you were able to visit poor soop and to see for yourself how she is doing. It is a relief to hear that she is getting better and, like everyone else, I hope she will soon be back in her kitchen. Thanks for letting us know the latest news. tchsmile

janeainsworth Mon 09-Dec-13 18:45:38

I'm so glad you were able to go up and see her bags - it must have boosted her morale no end to see you and I'm sure mrsoop is very grateful too - he must have felt very isolated and helpless.
Good to know that Soop seems better.

Soutra Mon 09-Dec-13 18:58:19

Thank you for setting our minds - a little - at rest, thatbags as ja has said, seeing you must have really cheered her up, poor soop. How quickly these things can develop can't they? No more "being brave" and shrugging "feeling poorly" off - we need to look after ourselves as well as those who depend on us.
Virtual treacle sponge and custard will be winging their way northwards as soon as I can manage. [treacle sponge] emoticon cupcake?? and sunshine for yellow custard??

annodomini Mon 09-Dec-13 19:39:40

Well done, Bags. She must have been pleased to see you. It's good that she's showing signs of a returning appetite but I do hope the cough subsides soon. Love to her and Mr Soop when you are in touch again.

Nelliemoser Mon 09-Dec-13 19:41:11

Thanks bags you are a good friend flowers

Nonu Mon 09-Dec-13 19:43:34

that is good news BAGS . Hopefully she is on the mend ! Fingers crossed .

newist Mon 09-Dec-13 20:10:23

Bags I am so pleased you were able to visit soop. It is difficult to be in a hospital which is a distance away from home. I would, if I could, send her some real flowers to hopefully cheer her up, as it is I am not sure she would receive them being addressed to soop . so meanwhile if you can please send her these flowers

Gagagran Mon 09-Dec-13 20:28:24

What a lovely lot GNs are in times of trouble. Always can be relied upon to support and encourage fellow Grans. I feel very proud to be part of it.

Hopefully the treacle sponge and custard will do the trick and dear Soop will start to mend and feel much better and soon be able to get back home to the Black Prince and Mr Soop. I am sure both are utterly lost without her.
So wine for Mr Soop, flowers for Soop and a cooked chicken breast for Rory from me!

Thanks for the updates Bags. You are a true friend indeed smile

Gally Mon 09-Dec-13 20:31:35

Just catching up on the Kitchen since arriving in Oz. so sorry to hear soop has been hospitalised. Sounds as if she has turned a corner - I do hope so. I am sure all the concern shown by her 'lot' will help her no end. Love too to Mr Soop. They could both do with some of my sunshine, although I must admit I was finding it hard to cope with the humidity yesterday! It was very strange driving home on Sunday with a Christmas 'tree' strapped to the roof of the car with the sun blazing and temperature of 30+. Anyway it is now decorated, the blowup Santa and reindeer have taken up residence on the deck and the lights are flashing furiously, so all is well in the 'Gally' household wink

celebgran Mon 09-Dec-13 20:34:22

Oh thank goodness that bags for some positive news of soop do hope she improves rapidly now. Bigs hugs on way for other end country frinton in Essex!

Agus Mon 09-Dec-13 20:58:25

Strong healing vibes up to Oban for you soop. Pleased to hear you have turned a corner and also that your appetite has returned. Always a good sign.
More healing vibes up to Kintrye also, for Mr Soop. What a rotten time the two of you are having. Your kitchen has turned into a waiting room at the moment as we all await news to hear how you are doing. Best wishes to you both and I hope it won't be long 'til you are both home together and back to good health..flowers

mrshat Mon 09-Dec-13 20:58:53

Thanks thatbags for keeping us up to date on the soops. So pleased soop is making progress and hopefully mrsoop is feeling better too. sunshine for them both.

Charleygirl Mon 09-Dec-13 21:43:42

Thatbags it was good to hear that Mr soop was able to have a day off today and look after Rory.

Hopefully soop will fancy something more nutritious than treacle sponge and custard tomorrow. I am glad to hear that her IV antibiotics have been changed-they do appear to be looking after her there.

Thanks for keeping us informed.

LizG Mon 09-Dec-13 22:44:18
