I thought that we had already reached the 1000 messages. Maybe we haven't. Anyway...for when we do, here's the new extension. I'm making it warm and cosy and there are date slices to be enjoyed. Rory has claimed his corner of the sofa. wink

Get better soon Soop and I hope that Rory is not too upset that you are not around at present.

moomin Sun 08-Dec-13 12:13:43

Just caught up, sorry to hear soop has had to go into hospital. Sending my love and good wishes for a rapid return to full health. Thanks bags for keeping us up to date.

Soutra Sun 08-Dec-13 14:13:11

Has anybody checked out the sofas in Oban hospital for softness squishiness length to accommodate a number of slim and svelte Granny bottoms? We could move in and bring chaos and confusion comfort and joy to the other patients too!!
Some years ago when DH in Royal Free over Christmas with Lymphoma we all went to spend the afternoon with him (bearing smoked salmon and black pepper sandwiches) and his sister had to be restrained from continuing a family tradition of indoor fireworks!! Could you imagine evacuating all 12 floors of the Royal Free on Christmas afternoon because some twit one had set all the sprinklers off? tchgrin]tchgrin

ffinnochio Sun 08-Dec-13 14:16:00

Good idea, Soutra! grin

Charleygirl Sun 08-Dec-13 14:23:11

Although we are quiet and refined, (most of the time) the sheer numbers would overwhelm Oban hospital. Maybe a bit of hilarity is what soop needs.

Thanks bags for keeping us up to date.

Any more news bags?

thatbags Sun 08-Dec-13 16:27:32

I texted soop earlier just to say we're thinking of her and had a short text back but I think her phone needs a top up, so not sure how she's faring in hospital.

kittylester Sun 08-Dec-13 16:49:07

Thanks bags - keep us posted. flowers

Marelli Sun 08-Dec-13 17:04:15

Thank you, bags. Maybe John will take a top-up to her. It's quite a long drive to Oban from where soop lives, so I wonder if he'll stay in Oban - but then there's Rory....

Nonu Sun 08-Dec-13 17:06:30

Appreciated BAGS

Lona Sun 08-Dec-13 17:21:07

Marelli I was wondering how John would manage too. They have lots of friends locally though don't they, so I'm sure someone would keep an eye on Rory.

Marelli Sun 08-Dec-13 17:44:21

Maybe he'll go up every day for afternoon visiting - DH thinks it might be a 150 mile round trip, though. I'm sure soop has good friends nearby who would feed Rory and give him a wee cuddle.

Lona Sun 08-Dec-13 17:48:15

sad

mrshat Sun 08-Dec-13 17:49:13

Best wishes for a speedy recovery soop and keep strong to mrsoop. flowers

Marelli Sun 08-Dec-13 17:51:57

Wish we were nearer...sad. However - we must think of soop, and that she'll now be receiving the right treatment. She may have been dehydrated and needing IV antibiotics. They'll be all sorted for her now, and hopefully she'll be feeling the difference today.

thatbags Sun 08-Dec-13 19:59:48

Rang soop and read out all your names who have left messages in the Kitchen. She says to tell you that she feels privileged to know so many lovely people and your kind words and thoughts mean a lot to her. Gold star, gransnet!

The medical news is that she is wired/tubed up for a constant overnight IV drip of antibiotics. Problems arising (e.g. mouth thrush) because all the good bacteria are being killed too!

soop was still having coughing fits and says she feels desperately tired, which is hardly surprising in the circumstances, but she did sound a little better, if I can tell on the phone, than she sounded on Thursday. Possibly just glad to be in hospital getting the right treatment.

She didn't sleep much last night and has asked for a sleeping pill for tonight, which they are happy to give her.

Mr Soop is not feeling very well and has been ordered (by soop) to go to the doc tomorrow.

Oldgreymare Sun 08-Dec-13 20:11:39

Thanks for the info thatbags good to know Soop may be feeling a tiny bit perkier, but sorry to hear that Mr Soop is feeling unwell too. What a rotten time for them both!
Sending some sunshine into their lives.

Lona Sun 08-Dec-13 20:18:07

Thanks bags, so glad that you are 'in the know' as it were. Now I'm worrying about mrsoop too!
I hope nothing happens to Rory!

flowers for bags as well as flowers for the soops

moomin Sun 08-Dec-13 20:42:13

Yes, Gold Star to bags! Poor mrsoop - what a nightmare for them both. Virtual flowers and some sunshine too on their way to them both.

ffinnochio Sun 08-Dec-13 20:46:55

Thanks very much B. Wishing soop a good, restful night and an improvement tomorrow.

Ana Sun 08-Dec-13 20:59:33

Thanks for the update, Bags. I hope soop continues to improve, and that poor MrSoop gets some help from the GP - he must be so stressed...

whenim64 Sun 08-Dec-13 20:59:34

bag it's so helpful you being able to let us know how dear soop is getting on. Thank you flowers

whenim64 Sun 08-Dec-13 21:00:21

bags not bag....oh dear! my iPad will get me in such trouble!

Charleygirl Sun 08-Dec-13 21:16:52

That is a horrendous round trip from home to hospital-150 miles. Hopefully somebody can look after Rory and feed him. Mr. soop must look after himself and see the GP tomorrow. We cannot have both of them ill.

celebgran Sun 08-Dec-13 21:22:49

Special good wishes to soop do hope she soon back home and well especially from Rosie who loves her painting
